ryan curry, abc seven news. public health advisory is now lifted for parts of contra costa county this morning. a fire at a refinery in martinez raised new concerns about possible hazardous chemical releases in the area. the fire happened overnight, saturday into sunday at the marathon refinery. the area is under the advisory where martinez, pacheco, concord and clyde. one employee was hurt and airlift to the hospital. a marathon spokesperson says air monitoring indicated no off site impact. the company is looking into the cause of the fire. the new developments from the middle east, an airstrike reportedly hit a school run by the un, killing at least 24 people. >> but there is growing hope that a pause in the fighting could come soon. a deal to free more hostages held by hamas appears to be closer to being at the live desk with the details of the negotiations. jobina. thank you, kumasi. >> negotiators are closer to an agreement with hamas to release 50 hostages in exchange for israel allowing more aid into gaza

abc7 news reporter ryan curry is in the newsroom with what we know. ryan.hat body got in there and who did this are the biggest questions investigators are asking right now. it is shocking for them. and also shocking for the people who live nearby. workers cleaning the lake rediscovered a suitcase that was floating near the lakeshore avenue side. they thought at first it was a mannequin or a cadaver, but it ended up being a real human body. police taped off the area while they recovered the body and looking for other evidence. residents around that area say crime has gone up in the last few years. we spoke with the cleaning crew who discovered the body. i thought it was a dummy. >> you know, like one of the human dummies. it looked like, you know, look like a human flesh. and then we opened it up further and realized the person who told me just said, did you hear about the body in the suitcase in the lake? >> wow. >> just really shocking for those people. police are asking anyone around that area to review home security camera footage to see if they caught

ryan curry, abc seven news. >> a wild day at the port for sure. thank you, ryan. now to a disturbing case out of santa rosa. police are looking for luis gustavo arroyo lopez who they say is wanted for killing a woman on thursday. she was found decapitated at the scene. and police believe arroyo lopez may be carrying the victim's head with him. he's five foot six and weighs about 150 pounds. and now to the new developments involving the bay area pilot accused of trying to shut down the engines of a flight heading to sfo. last month, three passengers on that flight, they're now suing. alaska airlines claiming they suffered emotional distress from the ordeal and that emergency landing. they say the pilot should never have been allowed in the cockpit because he was suffering from depression and a lack of sleep. alaska airlines says it's reviewing that complaint, but caltrans is planning nighttime closures for all southbound lanes of interstate 680. >> in pleasanton this weekend. starting tonight, workers will be repairing the pavement on 680 between i-5 and 86 680 con

abc7 news reporter ryan curry explains how prosecutors say both companies cheated drivers out of theirargest wage theft settlement her office has ever secured. now these drivers will be entitled to paid sick leave as well as back pay. the two bay area companies will now start to give that money back to those drivers who file claims. according to the attorney general, from 2014 to 2017, uber deducted sales taxes and black car fund fees from drivers payments. when those taxes and fees should have been paid by the passengers. lyft deducted an 11% administrative charge from drivers payments, when it also should have been paid by riders. the new york attorney general said in a statement. for years. uber and lyft systemically cheated their drivers out of hundreds of millions of dollars in pay and benefits while they worked long hours in challenging conditions. this settlement were ensure they finally get what they have rightfully earned and are owed under the law. not only will they get that back pay, but they will also now get that paid sick leave and a minimum wage increase. we reached out

ryan curry, abc7 news. >> the driver of a vehicle wanted in connection with a carjacking is now in custody after a slow speed chase through san francisco. it started just after 2:00 in the area of richardson avenue and francisco street in the marina district. this white mercedes suv with its tires blown out by a spike strip, limped across town to the mission district with more than a dozen patrol cars in tow. as you can see, finally almost 30 minutes in, the driver bolted from the car, tried to carjack another vehicle. there you see that the driver quickly backed away. officers chased the man into an alley where he paced back and forth behind several cars with a backpack in his hands. after three minutes, an officer rushed the man, followed by several others, taking him into custody. after a very short struggle at the enterprise. at enterprise, near folsom, the struggle resulted in injuries to both officers and the suspects. police are not saying what, if anything, they found in that mercedes that the suspect was driving, that it did have temporary license plates and tires shredded by a sp
