sanjay gupta, who's with us now and sanjay, the princess had started what she called preventative chemotherapy in february. and then she revealed today her treatment will continue for months which is something that i think is max pointed out some people didn't expect. so that was some news there. is that typical for preventative chemotherapy? and what is preventative chemotherapy? >> right? right. well, you know, there's obviously a lot that we don't know here and that's understandable so the people who are speculating a lot and we're not going to do that obviously here. one thing i will say is that preventative for a lot of people they think, well, that's something to prevent cancer. in this case. and i think in some of this may be semantics. but i think what we're really hearing and what is become clear in this most recent statement that max read is that we're talking about something that's really more known as adjuvant therapy something that is given to treat cancer that may not have been entirely removed at a previous operation. for example, that's typically what you hear and that sort of

sanjay gupta has much more on this. now. >> sanjay, this is a focus of this week's episode of chasing life. >> how serious are these human cases and how significant are they well, they're not that serious, but they might be significant because they can be red flags and little warnings that we've got to pay attention to. >> so what we know at this point is there have been three people who have had symptoms due to h5n1. they've all been farm workers. the first two people, mainly had ice symptoms conjunctive itis, pink guy, those types of symptoms this third person, which is getting getting a lot of attentions. a farm worker in michigan who had symptoms that were more respiratory. so the big question i think for a lot of people was, is this related, is this sort of more severe in some ways? or is it is it not, is it there's something else and what they think at this point is that it's doesn't necessarily appear to be more severe. it may be that they, the third person got infected in a different way. first two people may ha

sanjay gupta. so should people be tested for their alzheimer's risk i don't think it's ready for everybody yet. >> anderson, but we're getting really close. i mean, we're probably where we were about 60 years ago with heart disease for a long time, people believed lucky, they're going to get heart disease or you're not. and there's nothing you can do about it. so why even bother getting checked? we now oh, no, that's not true. we're sort of at those early days, i think when it comes to the brain and you saw richard isaacson there, someone you know as well, who says, we're gonna get to the point where you test cholesterol for heart disease. there's gonna be tests like that for all timers as well. i think the main reason why is because now we know there's something you can do about it before you get tested. what can you do? why bother getting tested? that narrative is starting to change anderson and that's one of the things that dr. richard isaacson is very much involved with the preventative aspect.

sanjay gupta is year. what are we talking about here? sanjay? >> good morning, john yeah, potentially a big deal here there are no drugs to cure or to prevent alzheimer. so what we're talking about here are medications that can slow the progression of symptoms once they start. and if this gets approved this would now be the second drug that could do that sort of thing. as you know, john, the fda advisory committee that's an independent committee. they make their recommendations. they recommended this be approved. the fda usually follows her guidance, not always, but this is certainly a good sign and that approval could come by the end of the year so for this particular study, they looked at 1,700 people, just over 1,700 people between the ages of 6085 and these were people who had mild cognitive impairment. so this was early part of their diagnosis, early part of their disease and they gave them this drug and what they found was that over time, over 76 weeks that about a 29% reduction in cognitive decline. >> so they got worse, more slowly. >> i
