. >> the fire burning in sonoma county tonight continues to grow. the point fire is being fought on the ground and in the air by cal fire planes and helicopter as it's burning through heavy brush and trees. >> the 11:00 news on ktvu, fox two starts now. >> hello again. i'm cristina rendon and i'm julie julie haener. >> just in the past hour, cal fire updated the point fire. it is now burned more than a thousand acres tonight and remains 15% contained. and firefighters are continuing to battle the flames overnight as evacuation orders have now forced some people from their homes. now the fire is burning in sonoma county, and officials say it's burn into at least one vineyard near healdsburg. ktvu zac sos joins us live again in sonoma county with the latest on the firefight. so, zach, how's it going? >> well, you released those latest figures there. the last figure that we got exactly 1013 acres that have burned 15% contained, as you mentioned, that is a big jump from 6:00 this evening when just 300 acres were reported burned. this as firefighters are

underneath that in sonoma county. this says so much about fire season, we are back to tracking these things now using high resolution satellite imagery to get a handle on the size of the fire. and that is just so dramatic from today from mount diablo. started right around 5:00. that's all coming from the sights fire. so here's what the wind will do. we used the virtual map to see what it's doing now. watch how it sloshes back and forth. we had our offshore winds today, watch tomorrow morning, onshore. look at the difference that does for the amount of humidity in the air. this is today at 2:00 when we were at our low point. this is when we were in the red flag warning. and red flag warning has to go with high winds and low humidity. two of those together. and we definitely had both. but tomorrow watch the humidity increase just a bit. it was subtle, but did you see it? if you missed that, wait until you see wednesday, it really goes up. same time of day. so you can use that as your base to see how each day differs. it

nascar is back in sonoma. our anthony flores previews the stfa this weekend, the sonoma raceway is hosting the toyota save mart 350, a new challenge for the drivers this year. there's a new racing service surface. here's nbc bay area's anthony flores. nascar has been making a pit stop in wine country since the same year. the 40 niners won the third of their five super bowls. that was back in the late 80s. experience has always favored the veteran drivers here, but maybe not this year. after the raceway had a repaved during the off season. sonoma raceway is one of the premier stops on the nascar cup series circuit, sonoma is always a trip that the entire industry is looking forward to this weekend. the raceway is hosting the toyota save mart 350. this is one of only five road courses on the cup series circuit this season, but it's more than the track that makes this place special. we don't go anywhere that's like this in wine country and just how the hills are and how much elevation there is on the track. you r

this is still a difficult story all the way through sonoma valley.n. two of the other big blazes in the state tonight, the post fire in southern california has burned over 1400 acres since it started just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. crews there are also having a hard time getting it under control. lori perez is on i-5 in gorman where the fire started, and she has the latest tonight. >> reporter: we have a good position now to show you some of the intense work these firefighters are doing as they try to get a hold of this massive fire . behind us, you can see the fire crews stationed and standing by . that is because, as we pan over, you can see all of the hotspots dotting the hillside, until just a few moments ago. there were ground crews up there, watering the hotspots , every once in a while, we could see spotlights on the cruise. multiply that now by 100, that is what fire crews are having to monitor and attack over an area of 14,625 acres, now. a huge area, running parallel to the fire in gorman where it started yesterday afternoon, down sou

you will be breathing smoke from the point fire in sonoma county. if it is murky here, imagine what it is like a nap and marin county. jessica burch is here with more as we have a spare the air alert right now. >> and on top of that, the red flag warning. it starts at 11:00 this morning for all our friends in the north bay and solano county. for the friends in the sacramento valley, gusting north winds, about 30 to 35 miles per hour into this afternoon. with that low relative humidity, it can drop to 10% this afternoon, stretching all through the east bay in areas like fairfield and vallejo. we will keep a close eye on these conditions. it is fire season and we are keeping a close eye on the wind. it is relatively light for the most part as we wake up, maxing off into the 5 to 10 miles per hour range. this afternoon, it shifts fast. they will be about 20 miles per hour at the surface level near napa and we will continue to watch the wind to strengthen into areas like santa rosa, all the way into the 4:00 hour and closer to dinner time. the red flag
