this is your view from mount tam.t moments ago, it was quite the view because of the snow flakes were coming down. we still have a few of them up there, but it is let up a little bit. it actually stuck on some of those trees and grassy areas, which is among the first times this season that mount tam is actsally had snow stick, even if just for a minute, we are looking out there at a little bit of continued snow on mount tam heavy snow on mount saint and mount diablo and really coming down on mount hamilton where the lick observatory is expecting around 3 inches up there. now, as for the bay itself, we are looking at heavy rain right on the bay bridge up through emeryville, berkeley, up to richmond. it had come down downpours around benicia just moments ago on over towards highway 4. as you make your way out to antioch, it's still coming down. really heavy walnut creek down 6.80, still very heavy. the central coast has been seeing some thunderstorm activity, especially around castroville watsonville, monterey, on up to

so we'll take a live look now at what's happening from on top of mount tam. haha, a little over now to kyla snow. i can't believe it. >> well, we talked yesterday about how cold this system was going to be right. and it's certainly to live or this morning. in fact, still a lot of cold air rushing in right now around this low pressure system. it wraps around it and then it shoots it straight into california right now. a lot of that action is headed into the sierra where you can see some of that snow is falling at a very heavy pace right now. but we still are very unsettled and we're chilly out there to see. as we zoom in, you can see, you know, you look into the santa cruz mountains. we still got a little frozen precipitation happening there. also in and around down hamilton. and you can see just to the east of morgan hill, we've got a little bit there as well. so we're going to be with this for the next about 24 hours before finally do with it completely. right now. san francisco getting a break. the east bay, just a few sprinkles out there. the north bay now

this video posted by marin water on x, shows the mount tam watershed's west peak blanketed in snow. the slick roadways made for hazardous conditions at the higher elevations, but here at lower elevations, lots of scattered rain and even hail throughout the day. the rain made for some slick roads in los gatos and across the bay. chief meteorologist bill martin joins us now. bill a little bit of everything today. >> yeah, that's exactly right, craig. and as we go into tomorrow, a lot more sunshine than we had today. and probably there's a slight chance for a sprinkle or shower. but for the most part it's going to be mostly to partly sunny. and then maybe a stray sprinkle late in the afternoon there. scattered showers out there right now. not a big deal. the rainfall did accumulate below 1500ft. the snow level we had at saratoga snow is around 1500ft. so below that we had rain, almost an inch of rain in some places, and three quarters of an inch to a half inch in others, and a quarter inch in others. so a very beneficial rainfall. not a lot of water wasted. it hit the reservoirs. it go

i want to show you a scene from mount tam. this was from a few hours ago. the snow was coming down.was accumulating over the mountaintop there. believe it or not, they did pick up quite a bit of snow up there. and this is something that you expect to see in february. not exactly around this time of year. so let's look at a loop of the area of low pressure that has moved onshore. and as it is over land now, it has been bringing us everything from thunderstorms earlier tonight to snow showers over the mount tam, santa cruz mountains up to our north, mount diablo, mount uh, uh- these areas are going to continue to see the snow fall. so right now we have a combination of showers at the lower elevations san jose, santa clara, milpitas highway 130, and you see that wintry weather over mount hamilton, widening it out here, still seeing showers off the coastline. so we're not completely done yet. seeing some pockets of downpours in the inland east bay right now right around antioch, lone tree way, oakley, brentwood area. this is going to continue around san francisco peninsula, the san mate
