a wave of rain coming in, with off and on showers for the inner bay, the inner east bay down to the hills over the tri-valley as well. we are seeing showers moving through. so this is what we're seeing right now, once again, this kind of activity continues throughout today as we see on our models. but there may also be some thunderstorms in the mix as well and some brief heavy downpours through late morning for the north bay. it looks like the north bay will be the focus for some of the heavier waves of rain. tonight and throughout the day tomorrow, it's still raining and at times gusty winds will be in the mix. as we continue to get this rain throughout the weekend, then we start to see the impacts of all of that, the potential of some rising creeks, as well as some street flooding, and just this weekend we may see anywhere from about three-quarters of an inch of rain for san jose and los gatos, up to closer to an inch and three-quarters and possibly two inches for some spots. if you're looking forward to colder temperatures, it's going to be a while. this blast of cold weather, we

>> right now the bay bridge, rain in many parts of the bay. slicker roadways.d here. no issues, no major issues coming down aside from the slowing you typically see through richmond and the berkeley curve. we have a slow start for highway 24. highway 4, i was concerned. it looked like there was focused slowing in pittsburg. it might have been just a wave of light rain causing people to tap their brakes. willow pass, bailey, and starting just where you get to kirker pass. for westbound highway 4, no surprises. vasco road has seen more time tacked on over the last few minutes. >>> happening now, measles is, once again, being detected here in the u.s., including northern california. uc davis says hundreds may have been exposed to a virus at the sacramento hospital after a child visited the er, later testing positive. several outbreaks have been detected, including cases at a migrant shelter in chicago. measles was once thought to be eradicated here in the u.s., but health officials say the rise in cases is also due in part to falling vaccination rates and increase

scattered rain through the east bay, the north bay. less of that activity as we wake up and see those clouds down here through the south bay. as we go throughout the day, we continue this light scattered fashion as we go and plan our hour-by-hour outlook. as we go into the second half of the day and into our workweek, we are going to see some showers continuing, but definitely not like what we have had over the last couple of days. there is a chance of seeing the isolated thunderstorms, some gusty winds at times, and definitely those conditions in the sierra do not continue to improve as that blizzard warning is in effect until tomorrow. so it's been pushed back, kira. >> and before i let you go, i want to ask you about that alert sent out yesterday about a tornado warning south of the bay area. so unusual. what can you tell us about that? >> it's always interesting when we have severe weather in the bay area. i can explain just a couple of things. we definitely had an issue that was going on with what was detected in our satellite and

most delays are out of the south bay and east bay.are commuting out of the north bay, napa, 101 south, novato, san rafael, everything is looking good. i will zoom in on the south bay. you are down about nine miles per hour. this is north 101 near mckee. there is a crash blocking lanes and traffic is building beyond the 280, 680 connector. you will need extra time to navigate through that and this. bay bridge, metering lights are on. brake lights west bound 80 as you work into the area near the toll plaza. one more thing, we've got slick surfaces out there. be extra careful as you hop on the roads this morning for your commute. at the sonoma race way, two months later and now the newly repaved track is ready to be broken in. the drive for charity, first laps at 9:00 a.m. participants will be able to take three laps in their car to experience the race way's first complete repave in 23 years. all proceeds go to speedway children's charities in sonoma which supports local families in educational, financial, and medical need. >>> after his

parts of the east bay and the south bay. this early portion of wednesday afternoon. now checking out the wind reports. we do not have wind advisories, but there is a bit of a breeze out there in a few spots. novato gusting to 20 miles an hour. and some more reports for you with sfo. a southerly wind at about 13 miles an hour. here is our live camera looking out toward the golden gate bridge. you can check out the cars as they approach the toll plaza here. and you'll notice probably not a lot of windshield wiper activity showing up here, but there's the chance of some mist or some drizzle. current numbers in the 50s and the lower 60s right now, san jose checking in 63 degrees. so here's the overall weather pattern. the storm track is racing across the pacific. here is of course, hawaii. here's the bay area and also up in the pacific northwest. we have that circulation, that area of low pressure. so we had a dry start this morning for the most part with some cloud cover out there. and then rain returns, especially for this evening. and then there's that stronger storm

central part of the bay area right now, sweeping down from the north bay. so the peninsula, south bay, east bay will some will get some of this rainfall as well. it's a level one storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. so overnight more periods of rain and showers. highest totals in the north bay. occasional wind gusts. here's the forecast animation starting at midnight. notice by about 4:00 tomorrow morning. this storm will be just about over, but wet areas on the pavement will be left for morning commuters and then tomorrow evening and overnight tomorrow night, another little weak storm moves through. and that will be our last rainfall for a while, leaving rainfall totals generally ranging from about a quarter of an inch in the south bay to nearly half an inch or more around the bay shoreline, and certainly well over a half inch over much of the north bay. overnight, low temperatures will be generally in the low to mid 40s up in the north bay, a little bit chillier with lots of mid to upper 30s there. then tomorrow's highs uh- upper 50s at th
