tubman. oh, did get it right. that she was studied by the. mm hmm. so didn't start, obviously, until 1947, i think. right. right. so so couple questions here. number one, she gathered a lot of intel. mm hmm. how was recorded? somebody there says she was illiterate. how was recorded? and the other is that where did. did the cia use some of her, um, some of her ways of gathering intel and what she did? did the did they use in infuse that, for lack of better terms, in. they do. yeah. so i don't know that we actually know how she communicated the intel to the us army. my hunch is that it was verbally she had very close relationships with, the generals and the colonels of the us army of the south. there's i in the book about this scene of general david hunter, who was the commander of the department of, the south pouring a glass of water for. tubman. she seated and he's standing in, pouring water for her as if their roles are actually reversed. wow. had very close relationships. it's the kind of t

and i said well, how about harriet tubman? because i read about harriet tubman. and the answer was yes. and i said, can i go to harriet tubman? an environmental perspective. and here i held my breath. that was sort of an unusual and answer came like again, yes, absolutely. absolutely. go for it. and so that's how this particular framework battalion telling harriet tubman story came about, that long history of just a widening lens of attention and concern and interconnecting different of study. so my answer to part b of your question, martha, concerning what was new new in this project would a, they'll be twofold really. harriet tubman is someone we're surrounded by, you know, especially as kids. i mean, you know, black history month and probably now women's history comes along and she's going to be plastered on the elementary school walls and i think that's good. i hope she sees that there might be some states in which her role in those spaces, you know, could be endangered because of concern about teaching the truth of black history in history. and harriet tubma

a major rallying cry for a amazing people, brilliant geniuses like frederick douglass, also harriet tubman, who lived in auburn. she lived in auburn to miles away from the auburn state prison for the second half of her life, from the 1850s, through her her passing in 1913. so why why wasn't there more organizing against the prison? and in answer to your question about his family, his family loved him. his family really loved him. and that was really clear. and they some members of the family testified for it on his behalf in court, which was an extremely brave thing to do. and some of them suffered enormous white retribution for their testimony. so i want to really honor their courage in testifying on behalf of william freeman. so some of them did that and and since then, some of them didn't. some of the members of his family and his community had difficulty hearing his challenge for some of the same reasons that the white people did, which was that they were also part of an economic system. they were also embedded in auburn. but the other reason was that, of course, they weren't clairvoya

there have been so many who have paved the way, such as fannie lou hamer so governor truth, harriet tubman, hillary clinton shirley chisholm, and so we've come to this point now where the work and the sacrifices of so many black women and so many women. and so many young people have gotten us to this point. and so this is his story is historic for me personally, this is a book end from 1972 you know, also, i think the country is clear about the fact that we need new leadership when we need a new perspective, vice president harris brings up perspective. she brings a lens that has not been in the white house that we know to solve these problems, we have to have new energy, new lens, new perspective a new vision for where we go. but she has the experience she is prepared and she's ready that she's from oakland, california, burning my congressional district, grayson, berkeley and so she's got the spirit i knew you were going to bring that up and i know, you know, her personally and she's from the bay. as people say, who live there, i do want to ask you, what would be the thing that you would b
