i'm vicki liviakis i'm grant lotus. the crash happened about one 30 in the morning eastern time on the francis scott key bridge. we have a map to show you. >> where the bridge is. it connects to parts of maryland here you see the patapsco river which flows into the chesapeake bay. officials say the dali cargo ship as it's called, had left the port of baltimore a short time ago when it lost power almost an hour after that, we'll the ship's crew issued a mayday call just moments before the crash to let. >> authorities know to stop traffic on the bridge. moments later, the vessel crashed into one of the bridge's support causing it to just collapse into the river. within a matter of seconds. this collapse also sent several construction workers. we're fixing potholes on the bridge into the water as well. 2 workers were rescued from the frigid waters, but 6 of them have been presumed dead given the waters to death and how much time has passed since the crash, frigid water to that's really the tragedy of this. those constructi

i'm ken wayne and i'm vicki liviakis. the oakland fire department first reported the incident only 15 minutes they say that the bus was hit by another car in the area, 54th and international boulevard. >> to 13 people hurt. adu have critical injuries. more than 15 firefighters are on the scene right now. they're rendering medical aid. we'll, of course, stay on this breaking news and keep you updated as soon as we can get new information. also developing news tonight, we're learning that another united airlines flight had to divert to lax after taking off from bound for mexico city. it as about 1 o'clock this afternoon and landed at lax at 4.30 this afternoon after the crew reported an issue with the hydraulic system that united says the plane was an airbus 3.20, with 105 passengers and 5 crew members on board. the airline also says that the plane has 3 hydraulic systems and that there was an issue with just one of them. again, we will be updating this story on air and online as we learn more information. now, this is come

i'm vicki liviakis. i'm ken wayne. this time because of a hydraulic leak that caused smoke to blow out from the landing gear. that's according to united. when for rob nesbitt here in the studio with what passengers say they experience trump, ken vicki, the flight was able to land safely and all passengers deplane normally at the gate, according to a united spokesperson. this mechanical issue, just one of many in the last 2 weeks for the airline. problems for united continued thursday when an airbus, a 3.20, carrying 150 passengers. >> encountered a hydraulic leak on its approach to sfo. smoke could be seen from the landing gear which the airline says occurs. when hydraulic fluid comes in contact with the brakes i spoke with retired pilot douglas rice about how has the phone has been the nexus for all the united incidents in the last 2 weeks. all of these incidents occurred on aircraft that either. >> out of francisco are back into san francisco but came from san francisco in prior flight. sort of describes where this c

i'm vicki liviakis. i'm ken wayne. last check. francisco boulevard between clarendon road in lakeside avenue was shut down. >> as police worked to clear that scene, a scene that's been active now for several hours. and that is where we find kron four's. dan thorn with the very latest on what's happening there. dan. and this quiet beach town shaken up gunshots this morning. it appears that there were 2 shootings that happened here. >> in pacifica police still out on scene 10 hours later. all started around 8 o'clock this morning. investigators say they responded to an apartment complex here on francisco boulevard and that was after they got a 9-1-1. call from a man who said that he was shot by his mom. so when police got here, they saw the mom driving away from the area. they eventually caught up with her. she pulled a gun on those officers and then one of those officers opened fire and killed her. they then went to the apartment and found the sun with a gunshot wound. he was later taken to the hospital and is right now doing ok? w

i'm vicki liviakis. i'm ken wayne. use u.s.. postal inspectors say they need your help to try to find a man who they say robbed a letter. carrier video shows a masked man armed with a gun ripping postal keys away from the carrier in oakland earlier this month. postal inspectors say these types of crimes continue to be a problem, but they are cracking down. kron four's. dan thorn reports. >> screams coming after a letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint in oakland, video from the u.s. postal inspection service shows the crime happening in the afternoon of bark sackett. it's one of many letter carrier related crimes in the bay area over the last year. at this point across the country. i think all that it bears are going to work every day wondering if this is the day they're going to get robbed u.s. postal inspector matt norfleet says the recent number of threats and attacks on mail carriers has gone up dramatically. >> according to data obtained by the associated press, u.s. postal carrier, robberies climbed above 640 in 2023. more

i'm ken wayne and i'm vicki liviakis, a major crash this evening in oakland. >> 14 people are hurt after a car hit another car and then collided head on with an ac transit bus. oakland fire first reported the crash about 5 o'clock tonight in the area. 54th and international boulevard. the bus was traveling northbound on international with the driver and 11 passengers. according to ac transit, a chrysler 300 was speeding down international when it first collided with a toyota prius. that crash caused the chrysler to jump the center median and collide with a bus head-on. officials tell us of the 14 people hurt. 2 are in critical condition and that includes the driver of the speeding car. all 12 passengers on the bus were taken to the hospital. both ac transit and oakland. police are investigating the crash. new at 10 pleasant and police say the woman who was found dead in her home yesterday was killed by her ex-boyfriend. investigators have not yet identified the woman or the man, but police put out a statement today. >> saying that the woman was at her home on saginaw circle around 11 o'c

i'm vicki liviakis. i'm ken wayne. more trouble tonight for united airlines after another plane leaving sfo has a this time an external panel is discovered missing from that plane. >> after it landed, a united says it was not an emergency landing when the plane touched down in oregon this afternoon. but the post flight inspection revealed something was missing from the plane stance or live for us sfo with the story. dan. >> and this is now just the latest issue said that the united airlines have been dealtng with when their planes are leaving or coming to sfo, these mechanical issues haven't really concerning for a lot of united passengers and united says they do not know when this external panel came off of the plane today. >> another issue for united airlines flight leaving sfo after landing at rogue valley international medford airport friday afternoon. a united aircraft was found without an external panel. medford airport spokesperson says they were forced to briefly pause operations on the runway to look for any d
