and they've still been using waymo since. so waymo does have cars and cameras in the car, right? they are recording. they're able to see what's going on. and that's how they ensure safety. and they use those things for support purposes. i spoke with a different parent who said when he first brought his very small child under five in a waymo, someone did come over the intercom from support again at that point to ask, like, hey, is your kid in a booster seat? we just want to make sure they're secured in a booster seat right now, if they're riding in this car and the child was in a booster seat and secured, but that made this guy feel like, okay, you know what? there's someone actually watching and paying attention, right? so in a way, the fact that waymo support will ask these, ask these questions makes the parents like the service even more feel even more comfortable with it. >> all right. well, i know in your article you also talk about waymo possibly considering a teen program because of this demand that's there. so people can read more about it in your article. thank you so muc

and as for waymo's meeting on wednesday with city officials. waymo tells us it was a constructive discussion and added this is an important opportunity for us to hear feedback, as well as to share more details about our technology, including how our vehicles communicate with other road users. joel karma schaar, the union representative for the city's roughly 170 school crossing guards, told us he had hoped to be part of that waymo meeting to learn what the company and the city are doing to keep crossing guards and students safe. but he says city officials wouldn't allow him to attend. i hope that the people that work for waymo will realize it's in their best interest to cooperate with the city and all the regulators to be candid about what goes wrong and acknowledge it and learn from it and improve it. now this all, of course, comes in the wake of our investigation. back in may. we spoke to 30 crossing guards stationed at more than 20 schools throughout san francisco and nearly one out of four told us they experienced some type of close call in

there are ways for waymo's to share information about what they see. it's very roundabout, but she was getting at with these questions is why the cars were honking at each other so early in the morning, and the company says the answer is essentially that each car didn't realize it was another waymo next to it, and was honking to tell the car next to it that it was there, just like it would if there was a human driver. according to waymo, the company now has rolled out a couple of software fixes that prevent the cars from honking at each other in and around this lot. for now, sophia tung and some of the other residents in the building that live right next to this lot say the honking has stopped. and that's what's most important. the complaints have been rolling in since july. some online, others through waymo support page. but tung and other residents say the company. we want to dip out of that story there from sergio quintana, go back live to chicago on the floor of the democratic national convention. you see vice president kamala harris essentially ma
