all of the concerns that the members have that our constituents have. i do not in my district, i don't think people are convinced that military action is necessary. but it's important for them to know that the weapons of mass destruction use has taken to us a different place. that the president takes obviously any president would, but this president does not take this lightly. and that what will happen will be targeted, tailored, of short duration and will send the messaging that is necessary and then we go from there. so you are absolutely right. there is work to be done, but it's not a question of whipping, it's a questioning of discussing with our members hearing their views and some won't ever be comfortable. i myself from a humanitarian standpoint think that waiting for the u.n. and waiting for putin, the slowest ship in the

convoy of reacting to use of weapons of -- the chemical weapons by assad, is a luxury that we cannot afford. i have to go. thank you all very much. >> that is house minority leader nancy pelosi. >> rwanda and stuff like that. >> pausing for a moment for a reporter's question. haga a second. >> i don't think congress will reject, but i want to remind you because i have been reading some of what some of you have written and say the president has never gone forward if congress has nada proved when it has taken up the issue. i remind that you in 1999, president clinton brought us altogether, similar to this meeting here, but over a period of time to talk about going in to the bal ball kins and the voe was 213-213. 187 republicans voted no, 187

11:33 am
yes war with syria, no war with syria. i said what do you think? he said i think no war of. i said i gem agree with that but, yo -- generally agree with that, but they have killed hundreds of children there and he says five years old, were these children in the united states? and i said, well, no, but they are children whenever they are. so i don't know what news he's listening to or where he gets this, but even a five-year-old child has to, you know, with the wisdom of our interests, how does it affect our interest int. well, it affects our interest because again outside the circle of civil eyesed behavior humanity drew a line decades ago i think if we ignore with do so to the peril of many other people who could suffer, so in the event, i i go back to the

point, in the balance kins, congress 213-213 failed for a lack of a majority for president clinton went in. [inaudible] >> i think that's a subject of discussion. some people want it broader and some more narrow. i think that's an open discussion. >> what do you think? >> i want to hear what my members have to say. >> thank you. >> that is nancy pelosi, i guards my comments right now by saying she is leaching the reporters, she left moments ago but then came back to give an anecdotal story about one of her grandchildren and pointing out how difficult it is to make a decision point out who had gathered there. that even the people in our own district of california are not on board the issue of taking military action against syria. but she said that if we don't do
