>> if sounds like our lead story last night it's because it is. one more day has passed and the american people still don't have a fully functional government. there's no movement, no agreement, no compromise in washington. there were plenty of accusations. republicans and democrats pointed fingers and blamed each other again. >> the shut down continues with no outward indication that they are going anywhere in terms of negotiation or breaking this. pacecally, we're at the shouting stage now. there were several dozen protestors on the capitol steps today shouting at members oh of congress to phase clean spending bill without coupling that deep funding or delaying the president's health care issues

to put people back to work, pass the spending bill. both trying to get the public on their side. both sides say they will not do that. they will not negotiate on the threat of a shut down. the president and joe biden left the white house today. they walked half a block u up pennsylvania avenue towards georgetown and stopped at sandwich shop who was giving a 10% discount to furlough workers. >> right now this establishment is providing a 10% discount to all federal workers who are on furlough.

warnings. that severe weather is moved through the state and blizzard warnings continue in western south dakota and northeastern nebraska. each one of these red dots is a tornado report. you can see this line of severe weather. this one storm moved on many tornados and another one there moving to iowa. now there's winds and severe thupb damage. thunderstorms dam and. >> current warnings are with this storm now. the strong thunderstorms were not near that center. not really holding together all that well. not strengthening and weakening just a little bit for powerful storms and started to pick up the group in north-northwest at 7 miles per hour. timeing with the latest track as

it's passing southeast of louisiana there by 7:00 sunday morning. the overnight saturday to sunday is when the wind picked up. you see the heavy rain. the tropical depression can could come together and cause flooding. look at that coming up with the national forecast. we'll have that a little bit later. low lying areas are making preparations for "karen's" arrival. some are under a state of emergency. "karen" could dump up ten inches of rain in some areas. >> basically, we're talking

about some low-lying areas of louisiana. sort of the bottom near the mouth of the mississippi river. other people are being encouraged to take precautions. you have to keep in mind. we are talking about an area where people are used to this. they have seen this happen. they have opinion warned before and are used to this. they are starting to see the effects of it right now. we saw several people today who were being very cautious. a lot of people asking questions about the government fur los gos and how that will effect certain things.

not as severe. the iowa in the weather in south dakota is stationary. were looking at snow and wind over the same area. this line breaking apart of this and still holds together fairly well through iowa and in to missouri, kansas and oh oklahoma. a few severe storms in that line and it's pushing to the east. that's the cooler air that is moving in. that storm is spinning over south dakota. that's not moving. still seeing a lot of snow, wind and some rain in south dakota in the same area. not much change there kpwu the severe severe weather is moving through. all quiet for now. next 24 hours, seeinging that snow end eventually tomorrow afternoon as the severe weather moves east. chicago will get a shower or thunderstorms there. but storms spreading out just a bit until finally ending by to recall night. now, the focus turning to the

tropics. than will be tomorrow night on sunday. the satellite picture shows a storm away from the condition is. the track of the national hurricane center by tomorrow evening and sunday morning and by louisiana. that's where we're getting the wind an rainmaking the land fall along the coast there and maybe by illinois by sunday evening. monday and tuesday it combines with that storm by the midwest. the water will pile up in louisiana. by monday in new york. here's the remembrance of that tropical storm at the midwest low monday and tuesday could be very heavy rain with flash flooding in the mid atlantic.
