attacked government buildings in thailand today. they took control of the state broadcaster and forced the president to take refuge in the state compound. until yesterday it had remained peaceful. >> again back to the breaking news out of the bronx new york. the metro north passenger train derailed this morning. there are four fatalities and several serious injuries several cars derailed as the train headed southward taking off from poughkeepsie that is where it departed heading towards grand central station in manhattan. it appears that all of the injured have been taken to area hospitals right now the fdny say 63 reported injuries and of those 63, 11 are critical. and 7 are said to be serious the ntsb which will lead the investigation just held a news could be foconference in washin.

>> the ntsb is heading up the investigation on a go train this morning on a metro north accident that occurred at 7:00 this morning in the bronx, new york area. before i go any further on behalf of the ntsb i would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of this victims of the this accident. in addition to the team that is leaving from the washington, d.c. the investigators from ntsb have been on scene gathering evidence as part of the investigation. the ntsb will be led by the investigator in charge mike flannigan. he will be accompanied by ntsb staff with a number of expertise in the following areas. track, signaling, operations, americmechanical, survivor factd human performance and vehicle recorders. also accompanying the team are

members of the ntsb office transportation disaster assistance and the office of public affairs. our tda specialist will work with officials to support them and th family members of the victims in this tragic accident we expect to arrive on scene this afternoon and have more on the investigation a the that time. time -- at that time. >> to be clear he said there were regional investigators already on scene and were getting enforcements from the office in washington, d.c. we are already on the scene. >> we have been reporting throughout the morning and have more to add to the story. >> absolutely. so we do know that the ntsb has started to look at things now. this is their investigation. they have basically taken over. we also know that the four fatalities that we have heard about this morning have not been removed from the scene.

in fact one of the bodies as we mentioned earlier is still under one of those sheets. i believe we saw pictures of that earlier. what we are in right now is a staging area where a lot of the media are. i will give you a quick look this way. behind me actually is where the cars. the first four cars are off the rails and where actually the fatalities occurred. and we are waiting for another press conference from the ntsb to find out a little bit more about what happened. we found out from the police commissioner and ray kelly and the other officials that they were earlier looking to see if there were any bodies trapped under the actual cars they couldn't confirm that earlier. judging by how the train is laid out the ntsb will be assessing how exactly it came off it's rails. rails.and we are going to know

more from this press conference coming up soon. >> one thing that has been difficult to report and pinpoint is how many people were on the train. that is an obvious question that our viewers would want to know and we haven't been able to tell them. when that question was put to the police commissioner ray kelly he couldn't answer it. could you put that into context and explain to the viewers why that is a difficult question to answer? >> absolutely. it seems sometimes when we get these updates that it brings up more questions. we were told initially that more than 100 people were on the train we were told that 63 were sent to hospital and 11 were critically injured and then these four fatalities. and then at one point they didn't know for sure if there was anyone left trapped under of the cars maybe. but we do know that they had completely canvassed the area several times. we were told that they did it

three or four times, looked throughout the water and all over land, making sure that they have got everybody. it's like what we were talking about earlier. we don't have a flight manifesto. people are constantly getting on and off the train at ditc diffet stops. it's very hard to judge exactly how many people were on that train. i'm not sure how officials are trying to figure that out. >> very difficult. the only number we are working g with is that the governor estimated that maybe a hundred that seems to be the number they are working with. great reporting this morning. i know you will stay close for the next press conference. we have morgan radford on the seen and she is talking to people that saw and heard the horrific crash this morning. morgan what more do you have? >> in fact richelle i'm standing in the home of a witness, ray

martin, who was actually sleeping when the crash happened. can you tell us what you heard. >> i watt was asleep when i heaa loud boom sound that reverberated and then this was dead silence and then i thought it was something i was dreaming. a few minutes later i received a text message from a neighbor telling me to look out the window. >> this is what you saw. as you can see richelle this is the first car of the train. it's literally feet away from the harlem river. it turned on it's side. witnesses tell us it's this curve the railroad tracks that the train was coming around. they say it was speeding it turned the first car to turnover and then caused the second and third car of the train to turn on it's side. what you see here rus richelle. >> morgan the angle you have is amazing and shows how close to the water it came.

some of the victims ended up in the water although the train car itself did not this is not the first train derailment this year from this particular hudson line, morgan. what else can you and the witness you are talking to tell us about that? >> this actually is not the first time a train, as you mentioned. it actually happened in july. ray, i believe you were here when that happened. can you tell us what you heard threatethen. >> yes, i was. it was late in the evening and it was a freight train that derailed between this station and the next one heading south. it was a similar sound. that took maybe five days to clear up. this one seems a lot worse with passengers being injured. >> and it seems also richelle i was talking to one of ray's neighbors. and both ray and the neighbor confirmed that the traffic here on this particular bend has actually doubled. where the trains ran once every

hour now they are running once every half hour. the neighbors have raised questions with the authorities wondering if the tracks can support such frequent trains of. >> i know morgan that is going to be part of the investigation. the ntsb is arriving on the scene as we speak. there have been many people on the scene throughout the seen throughout the ne monk. morning. the governor of new york and the police commissioner and the fire commissioner has been on the scene let's hear their reaction. there is concern that the cars are so close to the water and concern that someone may have been ejected into the water. we used our divers and we have helicopters that checked out the shoreline. we have cadaver dogs that we use as well looking for bodies. everything has proved negative as far as those searches can

we feel good things in the market and we have good things in the street and so that will help more to invest in the market. and stockbrokers in cairo seem to agree with that. mohammad works with premier securities. a cairo based stockbroker. he says it's improved recently but any recovery is fragile. >> we start to recover in june of 2013. and because some ambassadors like arab ambassadors especially expecting that we will recover soon and economic. >> many financial analysts believe the stock market is an indication of egypt's political and economic stablity. and only a political settlement acceptable to all can bring sustained economic recovery.

bronx where at 7:20 this morning a manhattan bound metro train, metro north train derailed. four people are dead as a result. right now the fdny say there are 63 reported injuries and of those 63, he i 11 are in criticl condition. new york governor says he believes everyone at the site has been accounted for. the ntsb is also headed to the site. the train operator was among the dozen injured. the crash was reported by the engineer. it's not clear whether any other crew members were among the injured. four of the five cars that derailed at about 100-yard north of the next stop. the witnesses say the train wags goinwasgoing faster than normal. it's not been confirmed but that is what witnesses believe. it was going into a curve into the track. that is the latest ntsb is on

>> well al jazeera has been tracking the train derailment in the bronx alt morning. and what i can tell you at the time of the crash at 7:20 this morning the winds were calm across the northeast. we had a front push offshore and the winds really did die down the last couple of days. the winds were gusting to six miles-per-hour out of the east at the time of the crash. fog and visibility were perfect pristine conditions at the time of the crash. usually ten miles of visibility is considered the best you can get. it's not more than that. ten miles you can see across the horizon. eye teal conditions and no fog reported in the area. we are showing that there were a few clouds in the area earlier

on but for the most part a quiet day and a quiet start to the morning and the sun had already risen at 7:00 in the morning. as we track through the course of the day. snow is headed towards the portion of up state new york and also across the great lakes we could see a little rain mixing in with that across the new york state throughway. that is going to stay north of central pennsylvania and across the mid atlantic where it's going to be a milder day. if you are traveling home to spend the holiday with family and friends you may run into a couple of showers on the new york throughway and snow showers along i-95 in the north east and be careful traveling into maine and down into massachusetts. >> there was a a car accident this morning due to freezing rain. out west this is our next major weather maker. we are looking at light showers across i-5 and i-90 and i-15. i want folks to use caution not

only will the storm bring rain across the cas cascades and heay mountain snow. it's going to bring in the clouds will continue to travel north of the that ridge of high pressure. this is the next 24 hours today into tomorrow. heavy rain along the coast from washington down into oregon and certainly along northern portions of california. so i want you to be careful there. meanwhile that moisture is going to push across the cascades into idaho and western portions of montana. we are looking at a mess out there along i-90 and i-5. heavy rain. 7 too 24-inches of snow across portions of western montana and including helena. and billings. stay with us more news up ahead.
