operation clean out. al jazeera obtained these pictures of the fighting in the benne region. with the u.n.'s help, the democratic republic of congo plans to neutralize rebel groups in the east. these presidential guards are looking for members of the alliance of democratic forces. they find four bodies, a boy and three women, claiming they are all adf rebels. they had been fighting the ugandan government. they were mostly defeated by 2004. the survivors established bases in the eastern d.r.c. this is not the first time the congolese government has eradicated them. but attempts in 2005 and 2010 failed. the adf managed to intregate themselves into the cross-border economy. they have taken advantage of corruption within the d.r.c.
