correspondents who is in the nigerian capitol abuja and bring us up to date and tell us the detail of this attack. >> well what we know is this attack happened in the very early hours of friday morning in this border town called nanboya on the shores of lake chad and borders the nigerian border and according to an unnamed security official and couldn't be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the village was attacked and four people killed including a soldier, the same security source it was launched by 30 suspected boko haram fighters. another eyewitness talking to news agencies says the death toll was higher and ten people were killed and it's incredibly difficult to get precise and accurate information because it's such a remote area and communications there are very very poor. >> yes, i can imagine that it is very difficult to get current

and accurate information, but do we have any idea as to how this multi national force is actually getting on because they launched their operations against boko haram just under a week ago. >> well that is right and clearly this attack is going to raise questions about just how effective the various armies in the region fighting boko haram are. now if you speak to critics of the authorities here in nigeria at least they say that this is just more evidence this news of another attack is just more evidence if you like of the ineffectiveness of the nigerian military and other multi national partners who are helping nigerian authorities fight boko haram. but if you speak to i guess the porters of the offensive against boko haram they will say this is just part of the challenge of fighting this group president good luck jonathan did say in a

television interview that took place a couple days ago that boko haram would not be completely extinguished and repelled by the presence of thousands of soldiers in regions and it was an ongoing battle an ongoing part and part of a global war he said against terrorism. so it does raise the question how effective are they and what more can be done to try and stop this sort of violence. >> thank you, evon our correspondent reporting live from abuja. now, i.s.i.l. forces in iraq are moving closer to a major government base which houses hundreds of u.s. troops. fighters attacked the ba sieged western town in anbar province where they are training iraqi forces and most surrounding towns have fallen under i.s.i.l.

take control and do all of the fighting to get rid of i.s.i.l. who is close to the base itself. what we have seen time and time again is this tactic of taking over a town and village and there are convicting reports if i.s.i.l. fighters remain in the center of baghdadi itself but a tactic we have seen time and again from i.s.i.l. fighters and it's a real concern. nine people injured in a minor blast in egypt, a security source says an improvised bomb targeted a police patrol northeast of the capitol cairo and police are combing the area. al jazeera journalists mohamed and fahmy are now at home with their families they spent 412 days in detention. their retrial on charges of colluding with the banned muslim brotherhood is expected to resume in ten days and we have the latest.

>> reporter: . >> after 411 days after too much time alone in prison it's like a dream come true. >> reporter: al jazeera producers mohamed and fahmy are now reunited with their families in cairo. they were given a bail by a judge on thursday and it has come as a huge relief. >> i'm very proud of every single moment i spent in prison for the same of freedom of expression. i'm really proud about it. time goes back i would choose the same excuse and i know if i was there i will continue to fight for the freedom of expression and i will not backup. >> reporter: they were in prison in egypt for 411 days. and as part of the bail fahmy was asked by the judge to pay a security bond of around $33,000.

>> abide by everything in the egyptian law and i'm sure he has and always will be vindicated by this and completely vindicated later on in this case when it false apart completely. >> reporter: the fight for mohamed and fahmy will continue until the charges are dropped. he was initially sentenced to ten years and fahmy to seven years in prison. that decision was recently overturned and egypt's highest court of appeals has challenged the evidence presented by the prosecution saying the proceedings were flawed an ordered a retrial. [chanting] early this month another al jazeera journalist peter greste was deported to australia after 400 days in detention. fahmy who is an egyptian canadian was told by the authorities that his only way to freedom is to renounce his egyptian citizenship which he

has done. the three al jazeera journalists fahmy and greste were arrested in december 2013. they were wrongly accused of promoting the banned muslim brotherhood. >> the bail release is a small step in the right direction but it's a step that should have been taken 411 days ago. there is no evidence that they have been complicit with the muslim brotherhood and no evidence they have been in terrorism and they are frightened and been made frightened and organization frightened by the fact that these journalists are in jail. >> reporter: their trial has been widely condemned by the international community and human rights organizations. protesters from around the world demonstrated in solidarity with the detained al jazeera journalists. six other colleagues from al jazeera were sentenced to ten

find out more talking to our correspondent brown and in the chinese capitol beijing and this is a little known ethnic group in myanmar and what are they fighting for? >> reporter: well they want their own homeland and it has to be said this is a very very remote part of southeast asia and it's very close to the border with china, it's an area that has a notorious reputation for people smuggling and drug smuggling and now fighting. the latest reports we are getting from the area are thank you tens of thousands of ethnic chinese are crossing the border from myanmar and according to one report there is accused some ten kilometers long again, this cannot be verified. almost nothing about what is happening in this region is being reported in the official chinese media. having to rely on myanmar state media for what little information that is coming from

that side of the border. but certainly there is a humanitarian situation underway. the chinese foreign ministry today said they will continue to provide aid to those crossing the border. i've seen pictures online showing soldiers from the people's liberation army searching everyone crossing into china, of course the worry from china perspective is some of those refugees could be ethnic fighters and want to make sure this battle that has been going on doesn't spread across the border into china because it's not the first time we've had trouble in this area six years ago some 30,000 people crossed over into china after fighting broke out between the two groups and, in fact, the number of shells landed on the chinese side of the border and fair to say the fighting is not going to enany time soon. >> what position does china take on this group's quest for an independent home land?

>> reporter: well this particular group, the myanmar national democratic alliance army was once allied to china communist party and received financial aid from the communist party and that is no longer the case. there was a time when china had a certain amount of leverage over the government in myanmar and that is no longer the case as myanmar started opening up to other countries but beijing is watching things nervously i think and appealing to the government to bring this under control. >> thank you for that and adrian brown live in beijing. we have a lot more to come at al jazeera, inc including which are the winners and the losers in the trans pacific partnership. and we are on the run in nepal to be the race champion of trail running. ♪

years ago the united states and south korea signed a free trade deal and lowered the tax on california wine from 15% to 0. sales to south korea flowed. but this trade agreement is going to be different than past free trade agreements yes, the wine industry looks like lit be a winner but the trans pacific partnership will regulate industries and that might complicate things. it will hit the seafood industry especially small operations like the ones at the wharf in san francisco. >> free trade agreements tend not to help local producers and we don't really trust free trade agreements. >> reporter: larry collins worries about cheap seafood from overseas and also questions the quality of many imports, already agents inspect 1% of seafood coming in if the pacific trade agreement brings more seafood from other countries some worry

nepal is owned by high mountains and running up and down the mountains is becoming an increasingly popular pastime and we are seeing some of the best trail runners in action. >> reporter: every weekend locals at kathmandu wake up to race the trails or follow the mountains that encircle the valley. >> beautiful forest trails to run today. >> reporter: among the best runner is this woman and last year at 23 she discovered trail running. >> translator: we had to carry water and from the house on the hill go down for freshwater and used to carry 25 kilos of rice down a mountain sell it and get home back the time to do homework. >> reporter: grew up in poverty in eastern nepal and youngster

she joined the fighters. trail running an informal group and organizes trail running here discovered her and sponsored runs in hong kong and europe. runners here say the story could be replicated and two girls a remote corner of nepal were in runs in kathmandu and showed plenty of promise but need further training which is not available outside the capitol. trail running is not a national sport here and most women might run or win at an event like the marathon but don't get a chance to continue. >> this year i think the international athletic federation will recognize trail running as an official sport and then the nepal government and their sporting departments might be able to introduce trail races into their national program of running. so if that happens then a lot of problems will be solved. >> reporter: for those like mira without others raising
