2022 qatar world cup to the winter months. ♪ we begin with syria where at least 90 people from a syrian christian village in the northeast have been kidnapped by islamic state of iraq and lavate i.s.i.l. attacked villages on monday morning and we are joined from neighboring jordan with more and what more what are the details of this? >> well according to the syrian observatory for human rights at least 90 residents, christian from the ancient minority in northeastern syria were kidnapped by i.s.i.l. fighters on tuesday morning. they come from the towns of mainly a syrian and christian towns and they are close to the

christian town which is controlled by kurdish fighters which is called teltamid and engaged in syrian and kurdish fighters there and as a result after that the christians were kidnapped. now we understand that these kidnappings coincide with major push by syrian fighters in northeast syria on the border of iraq and syria in resent days and compounded i.s.i.l. in the area and director of the syrian observatory for human rights said he believes that these kidnappings are a retaliation against the kurdish fighters to take revenge, get revenge from kurdish fighters for pushing i.s.i.l. from northeastern syria and weakening their position by kidnapping christians who work

together with kurdish fighters and protected by the kurdish syrian fighters in syria. this comes after a week after i.s.i.l. released the video from libya showing the graphic execution of 21 egyptian coptic christians and we understand that the fate of these, around 90 syrian christians were kidnapped in the morning is still unknown until now. >> thank you for the update and we are live in aman. and also getting news of another kidnapping, this one happened in afghanistan and afghan officials aarmed gunmen of foreign origin kidnapped 30 people from ethnic community in southern afghanistan and they were taken from a bus in zobol province on monday afternoon. al jazeera investigative unit given leaked documents which show how they put pressure on palestinian leadership over the

>> well, i'm standing right outside the headquarters of the pchl pchl -- plo where we met with the doctor a senior official with the plo and we brought the substance of these leaked documents to her and we asked her just that very question which is what is her response to the an assertion to put pressure on the south african government to vote against the gold stone reports and the doctor very quickly dismissed this claim saying she believed it was very unlikely and more specifically she didn't think that the israelis would be involved in that way. however, the reason this is being given some weight or credence is we have to consider

the time that this leaked document comes from from 2009 when relations between hamas and the other was at an all-time low and it was ex speedent for them not to go with the war charges against israel because that would in some way bolster hamas in gaza whatever the case we have been saying the doctor from the palestinian authority is denying this here is what she told us. >> i'm not aware of this and i am surprised. i don't think that president hamas deployed or needed this type of lobbying at all and therefore i think if israelis volunteered to do things on their own doesn't mean they are acting on behalf of anybody and they are capable of doing anything. >> reporter: well, we have also been speaking to gaza hamas a

senior official about cia trying to get in touch with hamas but he says that never happened. >> i'm surprised to hear such news because i think until now we don't have official communication with the cia or united states administration i can say that in the last four or five years we met with americans and some of them are from the academic sector and some say they are very close to the united states administration but until now someone say he is coming officially from cia or from united states or from the official department of the united states. >> so mts revolution the u.s. government trying to reach out to hamas and have been in conversation and placed in the hands of the plo, what are they saying about this? >> well what is interesting is

that the doctor again a senior palestinian official who we have been speaking to had a very different view than the one we just heard and said while they had no concrete evidence they did believe that at some point there was some sort of coordination between u.s. security apparatus or intelligence with the hamas leadership in the gaza strip. however, she went on to say that in light of that she questioned why the u.s. maintains hamas' status as a band organization or a terrorist organization and in her words following israel's precedent and went on to say this connection between the cia and hamas really just underscores the fact the u.s. does see hamas as a partner within this entire conflict and indeed within this region but again questioning why they continue to keep hamas on that

terrorist list. >> thank you very much indeed. now australia human rights has a scathing report on conditions faced by children being held in immigration detention centers but the government has rejected its findings calling it a political stitch up and andrew thomas has more. >> we now live in sidney and studying to be an accountant but before he was given a visa as a refugee australia government held him for a year in prison-like detention centers and he was just 14 years old and alone and he came to australia but boat and coped in detention but saw other children who did not. >> i saw kids who were cutting and it's not something i could forget. we are damaging those kids. we are damaging mentally and we

are damaging physically. >> reporter: his experience is similar to many detailed in a human rights report on immigrant children detained by australia's government. >> our findings are deeply shocking. we found that all the medical evidence confirmed that detention causes and compounds mental health disorders among children. >> reporter: more than a third of children detained require psyche at -- psychiatric and many self harmed and on camera on tuesday officials from australia department confirmed a 16-year-old detention threw herself off a building last week. this is a shocking report, only australia it says automatically locks up immigrant children serious damage is being done to those it does and shocking too has been the government's reaction to the report, this it says is a travesty.

agenda up until june. now what the government has told us is that this list contains alleviation of the humanitarian group caused by austerity and contains possible reform of labor law so that we have a raising of minimum wage back to what it was before the crisis and collective bargaining brought back to the legal system which is something may the unions have wanted but of course we also expect it to contain things that the government hasn't been quite as public about but it does need to contain many of the reforms that the europeans have asked for and in which the finance minister say it will contain such as better tax collection perhaps an independent tax authority created out of the present one, we would expect to see some sort of policy planning for privatization even though this is a left wing government that is not keen on cutting down the

state and doing what it calls fire sales and public property we do expect also to see reform of the public sector which this government has said it wants them to take in order to make the public sector more efficient and more productive in order to help the economy grow again, while we don't yet have the full list of things in brussels we will see spending measures to alleviate suffering and also reforming to generate more growth in the economy. officials for futbol governing body recommended that the 2022 world cup in qatar should be played in flov and december to avoid the extreme summer heat and fifa task force spent three days in do what and meeting with officials for the tournament and recommendations is expected to be ratified by fifa executive committee in march and lee weldings reports. >> reporter: fifa has exactly what it wanted from the start,
