a lot of civilians that have fallen and we think that there is something - there must be something to be done for the civilians living in horror for the past few days. as far as the call - really it feels sad and a pity to see my friend being used by the deposed sergeant salah to try to cheat people by calling for dialogue. the man should be now confronting, you know criminal - his criminal record all over. all of this has been caused by him, and what is yemen - what yemen is suffering from now... >> i was going to ask you about the call to dialogue with the houthis, why would the houthis go to the negotiating tail. what's on offer -- negotiating table. what's on offer to them? >> they are presenting not a call from the houthis, but a

mealing in shamal sheikh what do you think they can do to resolve the situation and draw on the players, and the houthis, who have a lot of support? >> i think arab summit is a turning point in the history of the region or the contemporary arab industry. the message is clear not only to the houthis and former dictators, but to their backers. the formation of arab force which is on the agenda is meant to send a message that nobody is going to tolerate the nonsense going on in this important region on the world. they are really threatening and regional peace and stability. the message is loud and clear from shamal sheikh and hopefully the iranians

understand what is the message. deciding from our international partners from the united states and from u.k. and from europe is important. we want to hear a clear voice for them. we are now aiming as we heard my friend disrupting the naval route. which is quite grave, i think, for the world peace. >> good to have you with us on al jazeera. thank you a hotel siege in somali is now over. police say al-shabab fighters took control of the hotel, killing 20 people. we have more. >> as somali's fighters attacked the hotel in the capital. witnesses say some jumped out of the windows. a survivor said gunmen killed everyone they could find. it started with a bombing. armed men entered the hotel and

the fire fight began. >> a suicide car bomber went off at the rare entrance, and gunmen attacked, and that caused casualties. i saw injured people taken to the hospitals. among those killed is the ambassador to switzerland. the attack came a day after somali government spokesman announced the capture of commanders much the two men were involved in planning attacks and assassinations. officially al-shabab was pushed out of mogadishu, and other centers in 2011. the group has retreated and launched attacks on government and foreign targets. until somali's western backed government can assert its own control, it may not be able to stop attacks like these.

nigerians are heading to the polls to choose a president. and lawmakers in the upper who lower houses of parliament. the incumbent leader jonathan goodluck is facing a strong challenge from muhammadu buhari. the race is close. some 68 million nigerians registered to vote. jonathan goodluck is running for his second full term serving as vice president in 2010. he came to power that year after the death of the president. a year later jonathan goodluck won the presidential election. he is a christian from the group. his presidency is marred by a boko haram insurge city in the north. jonathan goodluck main opponent is bare muhammadu buhari, a

retired general that ruled. he ran for president in 2003, 2006 and "11. he's a muslim fulani coming from katsima state nigeria's ministry pushed them out of the state. the army announced a success in borno state on the eve of election day. from the capital we have this report. >> reporter: the nigerian ministry said it has captured a boko haram state. in a rare address a military spokesperson gave the statement. terrorists died. many have been captured in the

process. >> the home of the terrorists have been destroyed. >> reporter: it can't be verified. restrictions have been pleased on the society and the media and accessing the north-east. al jazeera journalists have been confined to the hotel since tuesday. the army accused them of operating without accreditation, and they'll be held without further notice. both were embedded with the military. the al jazeera news crew has been prominent in reporting events in the north-east of the country, and has been one of the few, if not only sources of information from them. and ahead of elections happening, and the expectation that we'll be getting reports from the al jazeera journalists who are baste there and worked embedded with the military.

most challenging threats. our region has seen a great deal of tension in the face of terrorist organizations that have taken ground in certain countries, harbouring and conspiring and perpetrating terrorist acts especially that the international community fail to address the pockets of tension and conflict which provide ground to terrorism. what is regretful in this respect is that the more conflict and sufferings of the people are prolonged, the more international community is incape aim of addressing them.
