>> the king of saudi arabia said that they won't stop until stability in yemen occurs there. saudi-led forces targeted yemen positions for a third straight day. they described the shia rebel movement as a grave threat to security across the region. >> these houthi missions were able to subvert the government, overtake institutions and turn a blind high. they continued with their hostile actions against the yemeni people and posing a threat to regional countries.
12:02 pm
>> also speaking at that summit abd rabbuh mansur hadi also urged yemenis to rise up against the houthies in any way they can. i call on all yemeni people to join forces to stand up to those militias. to take to the streets, and peacefully demonstrate at supply suppress expressing their free will. >> he said that there was no military solution to the crisis in libya. and he said that qatar was confident about its relationship with iran.
12:03 pm
>> the hopeful president hadi calling for help and assistance, and this call was heeded on recent developments. we call on all the parties and flip forces to lay lay lay aside differences. there is no military solution to the crisis in libya.
12:04 pm
>> you what daughter think that they were saying there. refraining from intervention in domestic affairs. that's exactly what saudi arabia and the coalition are doing in yemen, aren't they? >> well, remember, can war's position basically is much more noise qatar has always called for mutual relations with iran. for taking iranian concerns very seriously. but at the same time qatar has made it clear that iran should intervene in other affairs. and qatar has naturally been very--so qatar and qatar and
12:05 pm
iran have words in this approach in the last few days. >> saudi arabia's king said that the campaign will continue until such time as yemen is secure. it could be qatar that holds the key here to the de-escalation if you like, in its determined to talk with iran. >> i think that would be wonderful for qatar and iran to play the kind of bridge, a bridge between yemen and the gulf states, and also a bridge between the various yemeni factions. remember for your own viewers what's happening in yemen is very complex. you're talking about really multiple contexts in. it's partly political and partly tribal, and the sectarian element is least important
12:06 pm
despite what western analysts would like us to believe. at the end of the day there is no military solution. it would basically be a step up forward in order to discuss and try to bridge the divide that exist today. >> i just want to pick up on that. this is not a sectarian conflict going on in yemen. the shia houthies against the sunni coalition. >> i think what i'm going to say is going to surprise you. yemen is the least sectarian country in the middle east. i spent years in yemen. i never knew the difference of the y.
12:07 pm
this is creeping in our politics. let's not talk about sectarianism in yemen. this is a complex political ideological tribal conflict, and now of course you have the regional element. the sunni dominated and shia dominated iran. i hope that yemen does not turn out to be like iraq and syria in terms of regional war by proxies, destroying this is the poorest country in the arab world. more than 50% of the 20 million yemenis live at the poverty line. it is a very painful situation in yemen. >> always good to talk with you. always good to speak with you. well inside yemen coalition airstrikes have continued for a third day. an arms depo in aden in the

12:10 pm
table under the u.n. it the dialogue should be moved to another area. >> the dialogue is an option but only under conditions. >> we insisted on the importance of dialogue. we always asked for it and still do but it has to be on equal grounds where we wouldn't have one side dominate the other. it has to be under the legality of the president and the state not under the legality of a coup or militia of a controlled state institution. >> dialogue seems to be a far-off idea at the moment and people of yemen can only expect more of this. >> syrian rebel groups led by the al-qaeda-link al nusra front captured the city of idlib following five days of intense
12:11 pm
fighting. idlib is the second city to be in full control of the rebels. stephanie dekker is following that story for us from beirut. a fierce battle over four or fives days for idlib. >> that's right and it's now firmly in the hands of this new coalition formed last week. it's led by the al-qaeda affiliated al nusra front. but there are other groups working together. they say to liberate idlib something that they have now achieved. syrian state television said that the syrian army has regrouped to the south of the city, and they'll continue to fight what they call terrorists. it is an ongoing battle. we've seen videos up loaded on the internet where they're attacking a statue of the
12:12 pm
president's father where they're pulling down posters of president. they're taking down the syrian flag usually significant images in a city that has been under government control for the majority of this role, and was functioning as a relatively normalcy compared to what has been happening in the rest of the cities. we've seen civilians fleeing over the last father days. what is new the government was carrying ute airstrikes to try to keep it. this was once a safe haven for civilians, they are now having to flee that area. where are they going to go? many people will tell you they don't know. >> what are the implications for the syrian regime and it's control across the country? >> well, it's a hugely
12:13 pm
significant city, also in terms of geography. er youyou have turkey and it's opened up as a front for them. we talk about army morale, this would have done nothing to help that. also politically for any potential negotiated solution that everyone says is so important and is the only way forward even though we're far from that. the more ground that they lose in syria the more the hand gets strength of the opposition and the other players who support that opposition. certainly he won't be happy about this. there is another push going on in the south. but hugely significant people have been following this war and the fall of idlib is something that they didn't expect. it happened quickly but something that a lot of people are celebrating. >> stephanie dekker live in beirut. across the border in syria and

12:19 pm
of course, this hall continue in the next few days to prevent the advance of hotely forces and to disrupt supply and lowies ticks and to prevent movement of vehicles. the next few days we noticed that there have been movement to vehicles and troops either towards the south south of yemen. the central building in the
12:20 pm
middle of this row of these buildings. it's not--our goal is not to destroy infrastructure but target the specific building that was confirmed. it was an ammo dump used for the houthis. of course, you must all know as we mentioned earlier that the houthi militias are fortified inside houses, we're seeing in the past few days they are putting anti-aircraft batteries overbuildings and right in the middle of civilian populations so that it forces us to bomb these areas and result in
12:21 pm
collateral damage of innocent lives. the coalition forces we're seeking to minimize these targets so that it is clear that the houthi militias and the other loyalist groups are targeting other civilian areas and anyone who knows there is a difference between mortar round and a missile. of course, we're targeting weapons and ammo dumps started
12:22 pm
attacking the anti-aircraft batteries. as we see here one of the ammo dumps that has spread along the borders in yemen has been destroyed. this is multiple in the northern cities and south of yemen. it's motor pool intense which has been targeted directly. this is the motor pool.
12:23 pm
during this period we continue the mouth militias move mobilized its elements towards the saudi borders. and they're doing their role to deter these movements using artillery and the apatchly helicopters to prevent the outy militias grouping in front of the southern borders, and we'll continue to prevent this kind of grouping. we confirm movement by houthi militias to go towards the board points between yemen and the
12:24 pm
kingdom, and we're targeting more than one kind of grouping. and we shall target any kind of grouping here. we will not allow the houthi political shahs to bring their forces near the southern border. of course on the novel side the assadthethe assad navy and saudi citizens from aden to the kingdom. we have removeed almost 86 people of different nationalities, thankfully they
12:25 pm
have arrived safely this morning . the navy in all its elements participated using apache forces. they have arrived safely this morning. this is conclusion of our briefing today. now we're open for questions. if you would just go to the microphone, i will try my best to answer your questions. >> they build between sanaa are
12:26 pm
there any resistence that you encountered in during the air patrols. >> yes, as we mentioned in the first day that any air operation that will always target the first day is to sub due or destroy air defense possibilities. there is now no resistence, and we have control of the air space over yemen. and on the third day there has been movement of houthi movement towards saudi borders. is there any intention to have land intervention or land forces as you are now in the process of
12:27 pm
setting up an operations as you're aware any operations with the land, naval it first has to evaluate the intelligence and estimate the situation, and any kind of operation needed it shall be conducted. they will use force apache helicopters, artillery this is parallel with the size of the houthi. it will be evaluated and the necessary action taken. >> are there any information about the safety of the plane reconnaissance, or is it an offensive--defensive? >> the plane of f-15 is the most
12:28 pm
operated, one of there is one injury. it's a fact in any operation. and it has hazards. thank you. >> there are security reports confirmed that houthi advance towards aden. and the loyalist forces can move towards aden despite the
12:29 pm
operations you've done in the last three days as far as civilian targeting you said when amongst civilians you try not to target could you repeat the second question. it is not clear. >> i'm saying that in regards to the houthies put their defenses you said you are being cautious or to avoid targeting these
12:30 pm
areas. you don't think this could be a group tactic for them to stay there? firstly as far as the first question we mentioned that the first day the operations are conducted according to the timetable. we notice that there is a graduation in work and the first to destroy air defense and their ability to effect the air space and the work is in coordination with land operation. that is to protect and support the president god willing this will be aachieved.
