former president mohammed morsi. and a man goes on trial at the age of 93. >> hello in one hour the saudi-led coalition said that it will end its airstrikes against houthi fight necessary yemen after 27ers iny iny men in yemen. the saudi force also still continue to target the movements of houthi fighters inside yemen. this was how a spokesman announced the end of the decisive campaign. today the goal of the campaign
4:02 pm
has been achieved and sovereignty has been protected. the yemeni citizen is no longer subject to dangerous of houthi militias and they've lost a large part of their capability capabilities. then the operation will begin with the government which has to rebuild yemen in a safe and security manner. >> the coalition would retain the rights to intervening yemen if necessary. >> we'll continue to target the houthis. we'll also continuing the support of the help with the evacuation of humanitarian support. there will be some military action when deemed necessary. >> coming up we'll have reaction
4:03 pm
from washington and the united states. mohammed we now have operation newell hope where does that go? >> i yes i think everybody should wait for tomorrow to see what happens in the next few hours of the morning tomorrow whether we'll see the outies announcing this as a victim along with the allyies. whether we'll see the houthis maintaining their positions everything will hinge on the action of the houthis. if they don't continue to fight this means that there is a deal behind the scenes. we've seen in a the saudis
4:04 pm
saying that the outings should retreat. we have seen letters and envoys saying there must be a political solution and two days ago the general congress party announced that it's welcome the united nations security council resolution they were saying that they are beginning a new phase. >> the saudis have said that they're stopping the bottoming campaign against the houthis. they also said that they would continue to target the movement of the houthi fighters. do we know what they mean by that? how would they target them?

destabilize the region there may be some small scale operation or providing assistance for president hadi, the houthis are still active. they operate in saada and even in the port city of aden. i think now they will basically try to bring all of the political factions into negotiating a political settlement to put an end to decades of instability in yemen. >> the saudis are very keen to stress that they have ended operation decisive storm at the request of president hadi, but many are saying this signals the

end of president hadi and. >> yes they want him to go and move on to bahah. activists seem to be willing to work with him but this is someone who needs the backing of top military commanders powerful tribesmen willing to come together and pull the nation from a brink of chaos and come to a settlement. now he has to overcome obstacles
4:08 pm
such as houthies' political implications reaching out to factions and stemming al-qaeda in the center of the country. a mammoth task for bahah. >> al jazeera's diplomatic editor james bays is at the united nations in new york, and iran an important player here not as authority directly involves in the crisis in yemen but it's opinion and what it does matters. i think the announcement is important. perhaps even more important explaining what may be going on behind the scenes the fact that some hours now the dip foreign minister predicted that there is going to be a cease-fire as
4:09 pm
described in yemen. that's certainly not what the saudis have announced. but it suggests to me that perhaps there is some connection. there are some talks behind the scenes that have been taking place. we know of some meetings that have been taking place. we know that ban ki-moon met with the ambassadors and had a discussion with them. and we know that the u.n. security council has been discussing the wider implications in the middle east. when the president of that security council meeting the jordanian foreign minister met with the press i asked him about the announcement. and he said there is an important timeline with the u.n. security resolution passed last week. that resolution has a ten-day reporting unit in it.
4:10 pm
and ban ki-moon has to say every ten days how the compliance to the resolution is going. and the resolution says that houthis need to withdraw from all the territory they've taken. that's sport to report on friday. it's more likely that they'll call the security double meeting on monday. so a clear timeline for all of this. you heard hashim talking about new figures coming involved. until a couple of months ago he was ambassador bahah. i think there is another important thing that will likely play a part of this, and that is the man that ban ki-moon is thought to be about to "point his newto appoint to yemen. the man who is currently leading the fight against ebola is now
4:11 pm
been suggested for the job. he has not named yet. in the coming days we reach another moment of opportunity for the presidency. >> james thanks so much. the yemen niece journalist stranded in the u.k. while on holiday when the fighting broke out in her home country. thank you for being here in al jazeera. i know you've been speaking with relatives both in sanaa and aden and what they think about the operation that is now over. >> they want to be hopeful as much as possible. they want to hold on to any sort of hope that they will not be living under attacks or sleepless nights and bombings, but at the same time they're very confused on how things are going to go on the ground.
4:12 pm
in the past two years we've had the dialogue and peace and partnership agreement as well. and on the ground we show invasions and things which were different so we hear about all of these peaceful initiations by government and international entities. but on the ground people see something different. i'm really hoping that the end of decisive storm is really the end, and of course there is a cease-fire. this is very important. at the same time stopping the houthis from invading more, and doing any.
4:13 pm
>> humanitarian perspective aden in particular many have suffered hugely during the last 27 days. of how are the aid ship, going to get in? there are humanitarian organizations who are desperate to get the aid to those who need it. but how? if they're not allowed into the ports. >> there should be something here they should do it faster, especially at the ports. they want to check the ships and planes that are coming and make sugar that it's only humanitarian aids, and no arms or weapons. but they should do it fast. there should be some sort of resolution that makes them come in those doctors and surgeons and those who can help. yemen has live thud 26 days with no civilian flights in or out
4:14 pm
there are thousands of yemen knees who are stuck abroad. there are many who are stuck with no money. and most of them were out of the country for medical treatments, and they can't go back. they need a way to go home. and in addition in the thousands who are in the country and they're suffering. there should be some how an in and out way for yemen niece inside and outside. >> basically ending the isolation. thank you for your time. >> let's go to washington, d.c. has there been any official reaction to the saudi announcement? ros?
