in turmoil after several of its top executives are charged with corruption. and a sinner, or saint? >> we talk about serra in the negative. there's nobody who talks about serra in the positive. >> the outrage over the pope's plan to make the spanish missionary to california a saint. good evening i'm antonio mora. this is al jazeera america. the pentagon says more than 20 personnel may have been exposed to live anthrax at a u.s. air force base in korea. after a military base in utah definitelily shopped the live an travel to labs. given preventive treatment and so far none are showing any sign of illness. officials also insist there is no public health risk. jamie mcintire reports from the pentagon on how this happened. >> the pentagon says it is cooperating in an investigation

by the centers for disease control and prevention into how the u.s. military mistakenly shipped life anthrax spors spores to a laboratory on monday. it reported last week that some of its samples were live. that sparked a recall of similar shipments to laboratories in a total of nine states and a u.s. military base in korea. besides maryland the states are texas, wisconsin delaware, new jersey tennessee, new york, california and virginia. a pentagon spokesperson says all the samples are retrieved and are inspected to see if any also contained live active spores. the cdc says there's no threat to the public and no suspected

or confirmed case of anthrax infection. the shipment is a serious breach of protocol for handling deadly anthrax spores and the agency is investigating along with state and federal agencies. >> jamie mcintire in the pentagon. authorities are asking residents to evacuate, after days of heavy rain and flooding that took lives in texas and oklahoma. houston is not only dealing with the high water but with a sewage spill from a local waste water facility. robert ray is in houston tonight, these storms are deadly and destructive and thousand this. what is the situation with that plant now. >> indeed, antonio. houston has been pounded by rain the last few days and even this morning a few more inches in

several pockets. officials say that sewage treatment contaminated water came out everything is okay they claim they're going to continue the testing no boil order out there but in the meantime we were in southwest houston throughout the day today looking at all the people picking up their lives and all they have is memories and the bad news is that more storms are on the way. wednesday residents worked to clean up the damage. from the string of deadly storms and floods that have left houston at a near standstill. >> the water was so high that we were on my bed my home family kind of on a bed on an island. >> contaminated waters road over two feet in their home. for david childhood memories is all he has now. >> this was the water that was in our house. looking from the house you couldn't even see the poor, the wawrl level waswater level was really

engulfing everything. >> this is bayou water isn't it? >> yes, the water was just nasty. >> within that system and in that water 100,000 gallons of untreated waste water that spilled into this area. officials say they're working on trying to figure out how exactly that happened, and they're going to clean up when this has all subsided. but it's of no threat to residents and there is no boil order in place. houston fire commander deacon tittle was out saving residents and now his department is helping clean up the mess and answer questions. >> what concerns a lot of the residents now is the dirty water from the bayo ufertion that's bayou that's

contaminated with feces and so on. >> as far as we're concerned our water is safe, went through multiple levels of testing and whatnot, monitored by our city officials and confirmed everything is good and safe. >> for the dennenburgs they will be living with relatives until shurches kicks in around they can restore the no. insurance kicks in and they can restore. >> it's just stuff. no one was hurt. >> we have a thousand properties that we visually inspected we believe there may be as many as 4,000 with significant damage. >> reporter: meanwhile southwest of dallas word of another potential crisis they now say a earthen dam seems to be holding firm. antonio, the worst month on record for precipitation in the

entire state of texas. if we look at the history of damages from storms here in the state how about hurricane ike five years ago $19 billion worth of damage in the houston and galveston area as it came ashore from the gulf of mexico. tomorrow a lot of the officials will still be assessing the damage in the neighborhoods and the businesses to see exactly how much this flash flood cost but we're hoping it's not that price and we're also hoping the people can get their lives back together, despite some of the hard rains that are expected in the next couple of days antonio. >> robert ray, thank you. wimberly, three people were killed there nine others still missing. heidi zhou-castro was there when assessing the damage took place.

>> the destruction wrought by the weekend's flash flood. a 40 foot tall wall of water careened down the blanco river. survivors were lucky to escape with their lives. this family didn't want to leave. they waited until the water was at their doorstep before an uphill neighbor insisted they get out and they did just in the nick of time. because a tsunami like wave knocked this house off its foundation, the rest of it is downstream. >> i was snug in my bed 12:00 or whenever then power went out i know oh, storm they'll get it back up, it's wimberly. >> kirby's house is still standing. >> i scale downstairs and first step, a splash. >> water rose above their niece everyone escaped through his

window and with their three dogs boarded a waiting rescue boat. >> it's a real hassle. it's not a tragedy. it's just stuff. and it's going to be a lot of work. and that, we can handle. >> as search parties continue to comb the river bank for signs of life and helicopters search for bodies from above volunteers are uniting to support their neighbors. >> if y'all have boots? gloves you need masks. >> they're dispatched to damaged homes. >> everyone is doing what they can. and this is one of the strongest communities for this to happen too because everyone is always here for each other. >> survivors are in awe of the generosity. >> i've never been in this before ever. but this is just beautiful. >> these are all volunteers. all volunteers. >> this home already smells of mold. most of its contents now trash.

go down but tomorrow unfortunately we expect to see more in terms of active weather there. oklahoma has seen amazing amounts of rain as well as parts of texas. oklahoma city has seen just 20 inches of rain. so we're still looking at watches and warnings in this area flood warnings are still in effect for much of this area as well, rain coming into play most of it is going to be up here towards northern texas and oklahoma. we do expect to see four to six inches here. down here towards houston we could see possibly two to three possibly locally inches there so be watching very carefully. >> thank you kevin. u.s. prosecutors kicked up a massive corruption in fifa. high ranking fifa executives were pulled out of hotels in

iraqi troops have returned to the front lines after losing the city of ramadi to i.s.i.l. including in anbar province in the west. iraq's military launched what is said to be a large scale operation there yesterday. imran khan is following the offensive from baghdad. >> shia militia both sides prepare to bament for battle for ramadi. they're also using shelling to target i.s.i.l. fighters and cut off their main supply lines. once the towns and villages are secured then the push to ramadi will begin. >> translator: our aim is to meet armed forces from other front. operations are exclusively shelling and advancing towards
