it is a heartbreaking search for these individuals who have served our country with great valor to be killed in this fashion. >> and with begin with the shootings in chattanooga with each hour we are learning more information, a gunman opened fire at two military installations in chattanooga, four marines were shot to death, the law enforcement officer wounded and the suspect kimed. national security correspondent is in washington at the pentagon, jaime. >> well, john, the shooting rampage began mid-morning at a strip mall along the lee highway, that's where a navy and that rene core recruiting station had a store front

location in a strip mall, according to eyewitnesses a gunman pulled up in a silver mustang convertible, and pumped more than two dozen shots there uh the glass window, and door of the store front. here is what a couple of bystanders say they saw. >> we saw the silver, convertible, mustang, and he was just unloading some type of large rifle. >> initially i saw her coming to the door, and i was telling her to go back, and so i just pulled off trying not to -- because i knew he saw me and i didn't want to get hit, and then i tried to do around back where i saw some people escaping from the back of the building. to see if she would be coming out through the back. >> and officials here at the pentagon say the fact that those marines at the station were able to get out the back door probably prevents any loss of life, from there the gunman got back in the car

and drove a short distance away to this navy marine support center, and that's where four ma enradios were gunned down, and a sailor was wounded. the fbi has identified the suspect as mohamed usef abdul aziz, he was born in kuwait, but lived in the chattanooga tennessee area. the fbi has taken to lead in this case, and the fbi agent special at in charge on the scene, said that the motive of this gunman will be a subject of intense scrutiny. >> we are going to do an intense look at him to see if what his connections are look at his friends families associates anybody who is associated with him. to determine the cause or the reason why he conducted this attack. this is a case of domestic

local police for alleged drunk driving and as far as we know, it was the only time he had been in trouble with law enforcement authorities. now he became interested in martial arts. and we believe we have video of him taking part in an exhibition a martial arts fight in 2009. he was reportedly born in kuwait, the family moves here though in 1990, so if he was born there he would have been very very young. the family has lived there for a long time, and really a well respected family in the area, the fbi and the statement identifying did say that it would be premature to speculate on the motive. of the shooter and they will thoroughly investigate this tragedy, soon after they were able to identify them, they

descended on the family home, the swat team moved in, they took two women out of the home in handcuffs. to see if they could add any information, his father works for the city, he is acyl engineer for the city and activity dual, in fact, went to the local high school, and we are told by the university of tennessee that he was a student there he graduated with a degree in electrical engineers. everybody has said they were very surprised to learn that he was the shooter. and the president of that association said they told him they knew him very well, that he was very nice, and

to south carolina we have seen the value it can have in documenting police actions. were if information can overwhelm police departments it can put a dependent in budgets and some want clear legal instruction on what is private and what is public before making the investment. we are looking at thousands of hours if we don't find the fix, or a legal fix so that again, when a person called law enforcement overthey do and everything they say and not on youtube for all of eternity. >> with officers in more than a quarter of police departments nationwide, now using body cameras to supplement dash cameras and patrol cars you can expect more legal battles legislatures and budgettening thats to define the rules for what we are allowed to see on a case to case basis.

video just at the request of someone that wanted to see someone -- >> for a traffic stop. would not want their video out on youtube. so there's always that fine line you have to be careful with. >> yet the family we showed earlier, wanted the video out there for two years and the police department fought it and it took a court to get it out in public. and they believe that it showed the police department didn't do the right thing isn't that what these cameras are supposed to do. >> absolutely, they will tell the story. a lot of departments don't have policies. set precedents what should be released and what shouldn't. be, also you have to look at perception is reality in those cases.

we watch it on the national news and we sigh it overseas but this isn't a really big town, and so to have it happen here, i think has been quite a shock for people, also, as a matter of fact, the shooter i understand i just got a text message from she as a friend that went to college with this man and was at university of tennessee. talking about christian and muslim relationships. >> you have tried to bring together muslim, christian jewish tonight why was so that important. >> it is so important because what other hope do we have. what other hope do we have but to forgive one another what other hope do we have than to empathize, jesus christ, went to the cross and
