debris from mh370. john terret. >> unbelievably at this late hour in the day here it's what 11:00 p.m. eastern and we cannot say with absolute certainty that this wreckage comes from malaysia airways mh370. the reason for that is the french who have this incredible testing lab at toulouse where oddly enough is where airbuses are are made in france, that all they will say is it's evidence of possibly being from mh370. and they are scared stiff there may be a sin till scintilla of doubt.

he said that this wreckage found on that island near madagascar is from mh370. 17 months after it vanished off radar screens the first piece of malaysia airlines mh370 has apparently been found. malaysia airlines said wednesday morning that a wing fragment that washed up on reunion was confirmed as belonging to the missing aircraft. >> it is with a very heavy heart that i must tell tell you that an international team of experts have conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on reunion island is indeed from mh370. >> hours later french authorities were a bit more

cautious saying there were strong presumptions that the aircraft debris was from the jet liner and boeing confirmed that the wing flap was from a 777. but stopped short of confirming it was from mh370. investigators determined the airliner had veered sharply off course and continued the journey for six hours before presumably plummeting into indian ocean. the investigation involved 26 countries and spanned a million nautical miles. but as months went by searchers found neither the aircraft nor any answer. in january the malasian government announced the 239 passengers and crew were presumed dead. the announcement sparked fury among family members demanding absences about loved ones' fates. but a week ago the seven foot

wing fragment was found some 2300 miles west of the search area across the indian ocean. it was sent to a high tech military laboratory in toulouse, a piece of luggage found on the island is also being examined at the facility. reunion island is being scoured and other islands closely watched, following one of the largest mysteries in aviation history. this is almost surely part of missing mh370. we have to wait until finally we get final confirmation from those agencies before we know for certain and of course antonio none of this tells us why the plane came down. >> thank you john. rescuers say hundreds of people may have drowned after a boat containing migrants

capsized in the mediterranean sea. the steel boat capsized as rescue boats began to arrive. so far crews have pulled 25 bodies out of the water. more than 2,000 migrants and refugees have died this year trying to reach europe by boat. president obama is intensifying his efforts to try convince congress and the american people to support the iran nuclear deal. he warned that rejecting diplomacy would eventually lead to war in the middle east. libby casey reports from washington. >> reporter: president obama framed the current debate over the iran nuclear agreement as the most significant decision since the 2003 iraq war and found parallels. >> many of the same people who argued for the war in iraq are now making the case against the iran nuclear deal. >> and a drum beat of war. >> a preference for military action over diplomacy.

a mindset that put a premium on unilateral action over the building of international consensus. >> itself intended to draw historic consensus. the site of president kennedy's 1963 speech calling for a nuclear test band treaty with the soviet union. >> john kennedy argued 50 years ago, that the pursuit of peace is not as dramatic as the pursuit of war. >> president obama hoping to convince the american people and members of congress that the nuclear deal is the best way to avoid war. >> so let's not minutes words. the choice we face is ultimately between diplomas or some form of war. maybe not tomorrow, maybe not three months from now but soon.

>> reporter: but members of congress continue to voice grave doubts and defense hawks john mccain and lindsay graham accused the president of repeated blunders in the blees saying what we object to is the president's lack of realistic that is diplomacy is good and force is bad which has resulted in failed deals or poor deals. the republicans expect to have enough votes next month to formally turning down the deal. the president needs to convince their constituents that his plan is sound to fail to override a veto. >> my friends contact your members of congress and remind them of who we are. >> chief of the international international atomic energy agency in a closed door briefing. >> i would say moat members left

since the u.s. dropped an atomic bomb on hiroshima. earlier tonight a bell tolled marking the exact moment of impact. ceremonies began at dawn and are continuing through the morning as hiroshima remembers the events of august 6th 1945. al jazeera april roxana saberi is in hiroshima roxana. >> antonio here in the peace park in hiroshima there have been thousands of people coming and going all day. they have been paying their respects to the victims who were killed by the atomic bomb. gio, pan over to the left here, we are in a very symbolic location it was left partially standing when the bomb dropped not far from here. we have been lucky to talk to atomic bomb survivors one of them told me she has spent her life warning the world about the

dangers of nuclear weapons. >> it was a bright day with a blue sky hot and humid like today. it was a nice day. >> she was 13 when the enola gay dropped an atomic bomb on her home town of hiroshima japan. she saw a bluish white crash and the walls around her came crashing down. >> then i had the sensation of floating in the air. obviously the blast just was collapsing the building. >> a mile and a half away kenji was at school. he was playing the organ before class when he saw the same flash. >> it was followed by a bang bang then came a huge blast. i hid behind the organ but all

the students behind the windows were instantly burned to a crisp. >> i realized i was pinned under the collapsed building. >> translator: after a while i regained consciousness. it was pitch dark and i could hear other students screaming. >> mother help me help me. >> translator: i managed to dig my way out. >> by the time i came out it was burning. that meant most of the girls in the same room were burnt to death alive. >> reporter: seven decades on hiroshima has been rebuilt so has kitagawa's school but in the back sits a reminder of its dark past. i asked him what it means to him. >> it honors the hundreds of students and teachers killed here. after the bombing there were corpses and bones everywhere so it's hard for me to come here again. >> she is determined that

television. now it's challenging all of corporate america by raising the bar on benefits for its employees. adopting a new policy of what it calls unlimited parent al parental leave. courtney kealy has more. >> you are entitled to nothing. >> house of cards may think that but netflix say unlimited maternity or paternity leave up to a year after birth or adoption with pay. >> the first year is critical for brain development. we know babies who are bonded to their parents are healthier and more intelligent. >> netflix says experience shows that employees are performing

better at work when they're not worried about home. attracting new talent as well. >> this is also probably the most generous policy by any big company that we've seen. >> reporter: that includes other tech giants like google which offers new mothers five months paid off and facebook which doles out four months for moms and dads. companies of, under the family and medical leave act there isn't a policy mandating paid leave of any kind. the move by netflix has already sparked others to modify their leave policy, microsoft said 20 weeks and two weeks prior to their child's due date. >> netflix is setting the tone for other tech companies.

>> courtney kealy, al jazeera. >> joining us vie skype. ellen bravo. very good to have you with us. the u.s. as you know is the only industrialized nation that does not require paid maternity leave and netflix is going way beyond even what the most generous companies offer. do you think it will inspire others to follow suit? >> it's a great move and as they said a great business tool. i bet their job applications are soaring. it will inspire other tech companies we're excited about that. but for small businesses fortunately we have another model because let's face it right now having a baby or a bout of cancer or a dad with a stroke means financial disaster for many american families. so we have to find a solution and we have one. it's a social insurance fund

where all employees and employers put in really small contributions, pool that money and then employees can draw a significant portion of their wage while they're out on leave so the people can be good family members and good workers. >> right. speaking of parental leave i've never been more exhausted in the months having my first child and spending as much time as i could with her as she kept me up all night. is it renal for all companies forget small companies but big exeant to offer paid leave for parents for such a long time? >> listen to what netflix is saying it helps them attract tablet and keep talent. the cost of paying for a good employee who you lost is more than paid leave. >> where things change more

quickly cot employee become obsolete if he or she is out for too long? >> smart companies know how to manage this and they make it both attractive and helpful for employees to come back in. and let's be honest. most people aren't going to take a whole year, what a lot of people are going to do is come back after a good amount of time bonding with their child they'll come back part time. and we hope to see more men as well as women taking advantage of this. that's going to change the model as it has in other countries where men play a much greater role in raising children. that's good for kids but you know what? this is a policy that's also good for the economy. our business partners and every one of our coalitions has business partners. what they tell us is, people need to have money in their pockets to spend at companies and they can't do it if they have unpaid leave. >> want to get one more question what about people who don't have kids.

is it fair to them to see their co-workers get extended leave and they don't? >> the family act we're fighting for social insurance funds will apply to all sorts of leave. even people who aren't parents have parents and even if they are deceased, you have a partner who needs help. >> ellen bravo thank you for joining us. sec will require public companies to disclose how their ceo's pay compares to that of an average worker. the rule was approved by a vote of 3 to 2 and does not place any limit on executive salaries. goes into effect in 2017. this week marks a full year since michael brown was killed in ferguson, missouri. the shooting of the unarmed teen

sparked controversy. tony harris sat down with brown's mother, leslie mcspadden. >> when i got there i found him in the street, for probably the next 72 hours i felt like i sat in one spot and never moved i know i did but i can't, i don't know, i can't remember. >> so what do you think when i mention the name darren wilson? what comes to mind? >> the devil. that comes to mind. evil. you know he is somebody's son.

pollster finds troubling. >> the polls are supposed to measure public opinion not determine eligibility for debate. >> lee mariannaoff is part of the institute that,. >> polls are all by definition an estimate. there's a range there's a margin of error. we'll making real distinctions and big distinctions where there are really no statistical differences. >> reporter: polls are not pinpoint precise. they have a margin of error usually a few percentage points. so if someone say has a favorability are point of 46% it could be as low as 43 or as high as 49. now graft that margin of error into a group of candidates and the percentages separating 10 from 11 in statistical
