black teenager michael brown was killed by police. and hatety completes its long over due election with names marred on the rolls. we are going to start in turkey where there has been a series of attacks on security forces and we heard that four police officers have been killed in the southeast of the country and earlier in istanbul two armed attackers opened fire own the u.s. consulate building and earlier overnight a bomb exploded outside a police station on the other side of the city injuring seven people, there was a gun fight that followed in the hours that followed. and bernard smith is outside the consulate and he joins me live now and bernard what is going on

at the consulate there behind you? >> well, there was a gun attack earlier this morning. two people, a man and a woman, opened fire on the consulate building behind me and was built with security and it's at the top of the hill on the outskirts of istanbul and moved here for security reasons and the two opened fire at it on a security check point rather than at the main building, there was a man an a woman, the man escaped and the woman was involved with a shoot out with the police and she was injured and there was video by a witness who managed to film the police who were shooting at that woman and she is heard to shout with the police i did this for my party she shouts. she is understands and we understand she is a 51-year-old

woman who has been taken to hospital for treatment. the other man, the other attacker is at large and in the last few minutes the police have reopened up this area around the consulate and have not told us what is going on but there is no further searching going on here but the man seems to escape in the wider area around here. >> okay, and then we had this earlier attack, didn't we, there was a bomb blast. >> at 1:00 this morning, monday morning there was a bomb blast on the asian side on the far edge of istanbul at a police station and at least seven people were injured in that attack and one of them critically. in the earlier hours of this morning a frorn forensic side

with the damage left by the bomb attackers opened fire on the forensic team and the two attackers were killed and the police officer was killed in that shootout there. >> bernard, the latest news we are getting from turkey is there has been another attack, four police officers have been killed and this happened in the southeast of the country. you have been there, what do you know about this attack and the area? >> well, yeah, this happened in solapi and we understand that four police officers were killed when their car drove over a mine, a roadside bomb planted in the road in shernok province and there has been a lot of fighting between the security forces and from the out lawed p.k.k. so that is a very tense area and fighting going on there for the past couple of weeks and turkish security forces launching air

strikes on p.k.k. in iraq and turkey and the area has been tense for a while. >> bernard smith we will leave it there, thank you very much. a car bomb has been detonated just outside the airport in afghanistan's capitol kabul and the blast went off at the civilian entrance and jennifer glasse is in kabul for us and jennifer give us an update on this, please. >> police tell us in that attack at the main entrance to the civilian airport five people have been killed and more than 20 injured, it's always a very busy area and check point and it's where everybody has to stop and have their bags checked and actually be physically checked themselves and we understand among the dead and injury are women and children and police as well as foreigners and the police chief tells us the target was the airport itself and

afghans are very nervous about security and this is after 24 hours of attack killed more than 55 and injured 25 and one of the attacks including a huge truck bomb on the edge of the city that wounded more than 250 people collapsed buildings and sent glass flying and the police chief tells us the reason behind the attacks is they want to show afghans they can start at the heart of kabul. >> thank you for that update. a man is in a critical condition in the u.s. city of ferguson after an exchange of gunfire with police. it happened during demonstrations to mark the anniversary of michael brown's killing and police say they have been following the man because they thought he was carrying a weapon. >> this individual is not identified yet and we don't know exactly who he is. we are working on that. i would imagine it's a male who

is about 20 years old, that is a range. so we are going to get that out so we don't really know who the family is or anybody like this. these are tragedies make no mistake and it is a tragedy for the man who is shot and his family and a tragedy for the officers who are involved in this. >> reporter: michael brown was unarmed when he was shot by a white police officer last year and sunday's violence started at the end of a day of peaceful demonstrations to mark his death and kristen was there. >> reporter: it was a violent end to what the city billed as a weekend of unity and 100 blocked traffic on the avenue, ferguson's business district. the demonstrators refused orders to dispurse. police and demonstrators were in a standoff, toe to toe who the shots rang out. >> back off, back off. >> reporter: so it was right here on west florescent when

they were facing off when the shots rang out and it happened further down where police say two businesses had been happened and police were then able to move the remaining demonstrators who did not flee into this parking lot. this is not what the family of michael brown wanted to see happen on the anniversary of mike brown's death. 4 1/2 minutes of silence represented the 4 1/2 hours brown's body was left on the ground uncovered under the hot august sun and people came from near and far of the affirmation the slogan his death inspired, black lives matter. >> there will be peace, you know, even though there is no justice. >> i feel like the burden of making change falls on white people, not black people. >> it has been a year and there has been changes but there are phenomenal changes to come that are needed.

arrested seven men accused of sexually abusing hundreds of children and selling videos of alleged crimes and this is in a small village in the state and nicole johnston is there for us. >> reporter: the people living in the village and it's quiet, it's a poor, agricultural area and speaking to people this morning they say they are shocked and outraged of the sexual abuse going on right here, some 284 children alleged to be abused and videos taken of abuse and sold on the local market in pakistan for about 40 cents and many of the victim's families believes the videos ended up overseas in places like the u.s., europe and uk. the public reaction has been very strong. the victims' families have in some cases clashed with police, allegations as well that the

police in some cases have taken bribes not to properly investigate this case over the last couple of months and it's now going to be a full judicial inquiry into the case here going a step beyond the police investigation which is also being carried out at the same time. >> the ex prime minister has come out in support of abadi to re form the government to cut posts and follows weeks of corruption and lack of basic services and he wants to get rid of the roles of deputy prime minister and vice president. mohamed has the latest for us from baghdad. >> reporter: iraq's parliament expected to meet on tuesday to discuss the discussions by the prime minister abadi to cut some leadership positions here in this country. now, in baghdad we have spoken

to many people who say they support the prime minister decisions and the government must implement reforms and yet there is a lot of things on the streets about how long it will take parliament to actually debate these issues. when it comes to parliamentary issues a lot of times in the past the ugly sectarian politics raised its head and could happen again and under e pressure to get electricity and clean water for their families as soon as possible. there is mounting anger in the country and many people who we have spoke with say they will come out and massive protests for this up coming friday and the parliament is expected to take up the issue on tuesday and we are hearing that thousands upon thousands of people could becoming out on to the streets again in several cities.

indones indonesia. >> translator: mall newerished children are smaller and brain development is different and intelligence is not as good as others and it needs to be addressed. >> reporter: poverty and the lack of opportunity and no access to education, it's something that affects millions of people and what that means in indonesia is one-third of children under five years old are stunted, that is accounted to world bank report and what that means is they are not developing properly and many are worried they could have implications on this country's future and that is something the world bank has been pushing the indonesia government to take seriously. >> in terms of prosperity you are not making use of close to 40% of the population so it's as simple as that. you have people out there and these people are doomed to fail

in society, they are not going to be able to continue to prosperity, right. >> reporter: the government has programs in place that deal with malnutrition but the figures show that stunting has not improved since 2010. and this is the older brother and he is 23 years old and it has meant lack of physical and mental development and many worry if nothing is to address the issue that a third of indonesia children could face the same fate, western java. and we have head of hunger at save the children and i spoke to her earlier and she says global malnutrition is more serious than people actually realize. >> children are not getting enough vitamin a and iron for example and they become deficient in the really essential nutrients and they are under weight and need the

calories to grow and be strong and also the environment is not right for them, they are not living in a clean hygiene environment if they do not have access to clean drinking water and sanitation and this is problematic picking up bugs and worms and exacerbates the problem and they are dealing with this and countries are dealing with the many types of under nutrition and micro nutrient and overweight and obesity and countries are dealing with types of malnutrition all at the same time so countries are facing very complex issues they need to soft and is preventable and many countries have shown it's preventable and look at peru, rapid rates of malnutrition because the people in peru have taken a leadership in the role and coordinated the different actors that need to be involved,

civil society, academics and all coming together to work on the issue and need education, health, agricultural all coming together to work on this issue and many countries have shown it is possible but we need political leadership and investments in the right kind of intervention. at least 17 people are now confirmed dead after the typhoon made landfall in southeast china and caused landslides and they are continuing the search for survivors and it has weakened to a tropical storm and has moved further in land. a stampede at a temple in india left at least 11 people dead in the eastern state and happened when thousands of people tried to force their way into the temple of sheba after dozen of
