plans to deal with the problem. >> hello, thousands of people mostly refugees from the war in syria, are continuing to mass on the border between macedonia and greece. they would again fire stun grenades with the crowds. more than 42,000 people have crossed over in the last two months. some have been allowed to board on trains heading north but others remain trapped. many spend the night in the open along the border. >> 48 hours after macedonia shut its border to refugees the gathering crowd makes a break for it. they didn't come this far to be held back.

hundreds do get through, sprinting across across open fields as arm police units fire percussion we made, in this case directly at a mother and her two children. they have escaped violence, crossed the sea and did not expect violence from armed police. >> it is a sign of the e.u.'s complete inability to deal with the vast refugees. for these people it must feel like heartless indifference. >> this update. >> from amnesty international watching as we were what was going on. the point was made that clear breaches of international law first of all in denying access to people who want to make a claim for asylum and giving them--failing to give them proper procedures to do that, and also forcebly returning the people back to greece without examining their claims. but of course no one can compel the macedonia government to do anything about it, even as more and more people arrive here all

the time, and they will simply keep coming. one question we don't know the answer to now is what will happen to the people who did make it across? in the eyes of the macedoniaen now they are illegal migrants. of course, the irony if you like is that athletes people really don't want to spend any more time inside macedonia than they have to. they want to get in. they want to pass through, they want to leave as quickly as possible. >> dozens of refugees have landed on the greek island of lesbos in deflatable dinghies. eight landed within an hour on saturday each carrying up to 60 people. they reportedly paid $1,500 to make the one-hour boat trip from turkey. up to 1,000 land each day. >> there has been an explosion in the capital.

the latest in the wave of attacks across the city. three american contractors are among the dead following the attack on a military convoy traveling through kabul. scores of others were injured. it happened close to the main road not far from the u.s. embassy. we're in kabul with the latest. >> the car bomb went off at one of the busiest times of the day in an average on a busy street in a residential area just outside of a hospital not far from a school at a time when people were leaving work, heading home. the target was an armored convoy carrying civilian contractors for nato, the number of civilian cars, afghan civilian cars were damaged in that. civilians and those creditors among the dead. and more than 100 civilians injured in that blast. it comes as afghans are on edge, security is a very big concern here. just two weeks ago three blasts, three attacks in kabul over a 24-hour period killed more than

50 and wounded more than 250. that was the deadliest day in the afghan capital in several years. but the security situation remains precarious. the taliban has remained responsible for this latest attack as they often do if there are civilian casualties involved. afghan police sound four rockets just on the outskirts of kabul province. they say they're destined to be fired into the city and impact the province just southeast of here. the afghan intelligence service captured a truck and driver. that truck laden with seven tons of explosives materials. so the security services remaining on high alert here and afghans very concerned about the security situation. >> at least ten somali soldiers are dead after a suicide-bomb attack in the support city. the bombers ran their car into the gates of an university

campus currently being used to train soldiers. two were killed in the attack and two more are in police custody. al-shabab has already claimed responsibility. reports are coming in of a large explosion in mogadishu. police also heard gunfire, the explosion, with some reports say was a car bomb, took place near near the security ministry and a large hotel. tell us more about both of these incidents and how significant they are. >> well, in the later incident in mogadishu, the car bomb targeted a restaurant that was frequented by officials and the military. the police in mogadishu are confirming three people killed in that explosion. and about seven others injured.

the al-shabab members. >> thank you very much, indeed. for that update. french president françois hollande has thanked a group of passengers and hailed them as heroes. a gunman managed to fire a shot wounding two people before being tackled to the ground. >> tied up and subdued. mobile phone footage shows the gunman who tried to cause carnage on a french high speed train. the man had been confronted first by a french passenger and then over powered by a group of american travelers, including off duty u.s. military personn personnel. their spend spencer stone was injured with cuts to his neck and hand, but his condition in

>> a reminder of the top stories. stun grenades on the border. macedonia police intend to push back hundreds of refugees trying to cross from greece on its journey from northern europe. deadly explosion hits kabul at least 12 people have been killed and more than 100 injured. and the passengers who overpowered a heavily armed gunman in northern france are hailed at heroes. seven people have died after a jet crashed into several cars near an airshow in southern england. the fighter jet, which dates from the late 50s came down on a main road in the coastal city of brighton. it hit trouble when it tried a loop during an arbatc display.

an explosion in china, it is located one kilometer away from a residential area, but so far no casualties have been report reported. a greece-macedonia border is one of the key crisis points. the mediterranean sea is another. a major rescue efforts after receiving s.o.s. boats carrying 18 different boats of refugees. 100,000 refugees arrived in italy after being rescued from the mediterranean this year. we have this update from southern italy. >> as many as 3,000 refugees traveling on 18 separate vessels are rescued off the coast of libya. the refugees traveling on 14 rubber dinghies, they sent out distress signals saturday

morning, which was picked up by the italian coast guard. this is not the first time we've seen so many vessels carrying refugees. this is clearly a tactic by human smugglers who wait for good conditions before they send out as many boats as they can, sometimes with deadly consequences. the fact that the coast guard to do it al jazeera that these are opposite tall weather conditions to perform such a weather separation, it feels very dangerous. many migrants die or risk their lives just as they see their rescuers approach. we've seen at the beginning of 200 refugees have died when they all moved the same side of the boat to take a look or call out for help or send distress sign signals. when the boats appear on the horizon to rescue them, we have seen this many times before.

played an instrumental role in the capture of mosul. thassist a secretive organization, but intelligence gathered over the years indicate that the group's power is not centralized. many of the leaders are babies of al-qaeda and iraq which has a former command structure. it proved to be a weakness. isil leaders seem to have learned from that experience. they are believed to have created a system that gives leaders flexibility so that over all operations are not effected if a top official is killed. on the ground the coalition and local partner have few successes to claim. it has been over a year and isil remains deeply entrenched in mosul where it controls all aspects of life. there are those who believe that despite the death the u.s. has no long term strategy to defeat isil. >> i think the challenge has been who are we backing on the

ground? there is a larger issue in terms of having a regional solution having all the players on the same page. >> in iraq, militias are leading the fight in mainly sunni areas. opposition from some politicians in baghdad to the arming of sunnies has increased sectarian tensions. the lack of reconciliation has allowed isil to capture another provincial capital in may. retaking ramadi and much of the anbar province has done little. >> dozens of people mostly civilians have been killed in fighting and airstrikes in yemen. the airstrikes were carried out in yemeni city of taiz by planes from the suedy led coalition.
