break into hungary. the border police have used water canons and tear gas, many putting water in their eyes to combat breathing in the tear gas and the affect it has on your vision. we saw women running, carrying children from very distressed, some quite historical. that man has hurt himself o on the barbed wire or has been hit in the face by something. difficult for us to tell from this far away. but clearly suffering some sort of injury. and these scenes of a child and her mother, children and her mother, trying to get rid of the effects of the stinging tear gas. truly very upset.

others in the crowd felt that the hungarians were going to let them through. they were walking in, clapping, people lifted up on their shoulders. they were smiling and singing. they felt that they were victorious. they were able to get through serbia into hungary, and then barely two seconds notice we heard a scream from the front of the crowd. people quickly started turning and running in the opposite direction. at one point many in the crowd worried that it could an stampede. kids were making sure that they could stay standing up running with their parents, we were told by eyewitnesses that the front of the crowd that, in fact, hungarian police had rushed them. they started hitting them with batons. these folks had been greeted in tear gas as well. we managed to run back to the crowd into serbia, and at that point, the situation was calmed. we have seen people who have

sustained many injuries a moment ago. i say a man who harass bleeding profusely from the head. he said he was clubbed on the head by one of the hungarian riot policemen. there is anger in the crowd. now there is a bit of a pattern that has emerge ready young men will start going to the front of the crowd trying to get in there, and then running back when they feel that they will be met with force by the hungarian police. also about five minutes ago at one point the crowd got very happy because they saw serbian policemen, about ten of them approaching, walking towards the border gate behind us. we don't know why they were going up there. they are not riot police. they're just regular border patrol, but at one point the refugees thought they were going to be supported by the serbian

police. it is still tense here on the border. it's calmer than it was. but the scene could change on a dime as it has done in the last couple of hours. >> it seems last night on, especially at quarter past 3:00 this afternoon that this is a violent crowd. trying to break through.

these people are not innocent people. they are no way refugees. we've been talking about this over the last days or months. you have to understand one thing, they're not going to end. >> ban ki-moon has urged european countries to show compassion towards refugees. >> i was shocked. to see how these refugees or migrants were treated this way.

all the refugees were told to stay there. we spoke to refugees. they are waiting to be moved. a camp would be allotted them and they would have to make their way to a camp within 72 hours. most people did not make their way to the camp. once registered they want to go through budapest and onto austria. >> the fear is that if you're fingerprinted in that country, that is where you're sigh almost is heard, you'r you're your your asylum case is heard.
