at that time i spoke of the various stages which had been undertaken so create a successful transition, a hand over of power in the spirit of peace and in line with the gulf cooperation council mechanism, as well as pursuing united nations resolutions. at that time i told that you iran was hindering the continuance of that process, and that was training houthi milit militias a. so as to impose it's iranian model in yemen. from that time to today we have worked tirelessly to bring a

peaceful political process for national dia dialogue. it brought together all political forces of yemen. it created an honorable precedence in our country. there has been the drafting of a constitution. you followed the political time lines and dates as they came up and provided direct sport. the secretary general ban ki-moon provided support and visited our country. there was an inclusion of all components of the yemeni societies including houthis themselves.
6:02 pm
there were visits of the presidentitititial statements. as well as the council to my country. while the political transition process drew to a close, and the constitution was supposed to be submitted for popular referend referendum. meanwhile, reeking havoc on institutions, hospitals, mosques, schools, homes, residents. all and any weapons were used, and i'm including arms from the

yemeni army. this is a tragedy, and this was, indeed, a the iranian model through the use of force. political leaders and thousands of civilians were surrounded and killed. the media was surrounded as well, and thousands of children were enlisted by force schools and public ability were turned
6:04 pm
into stock piles and areas with the army. thus endangering regional piece and security as well as international peace and security we attempted to deal with the houthies. they were included in every chance to contribute to dialogue. while they continue to hold their weapons and continue a political party pursuant to law. all this was accepted in spite of the events that took place in 2004. the fight has never been a peaceful one. as was the southern movement.
6:05 pm
the citizens expelled. in spite of our positive approach to this armed movement, and the various agreements concluded with the houthi movement time and time again agreements were cast aside and as coup d'etat was committed against the state. as well as their actions under article 51 of the united nations charter to appeal to neighboring
6:06 pm
countries. we appeal to them to assist us in tackling the houthi militia, who were undermining or threatening national yesterdaycy. the response was a courageous one. the response of our brother, his majesty of the kingdom of saudi arabia. who came in with determination. i would like to convey sincere thanks to his majesty, the king, as well as the members of the coalition who continue their efforts. we find ourselves in this fight of the country ladies and

their coup d'etat. and the worsening of public services and provinces. this requires greater effort, internationally. so as to alleviate human suffering and to insure the yemeni crisis is not forgotten. while the united nations have announced an appeal for humanitarian assistance for yemen, contributions fall short and cover a meager portion of needs. thus, i'd like to take this
6:09 pm
opportunity to once again address an appeal to donor countries to ensure that they provide promised assistance. the government of yemen would like to see the arrival of humanitarian assistance to provide for all those in need, and oversight mechanism for humanitarian convoys proposed by the united nations would allow for the turn of economic prosperity and the arrival of humanitarian assistance b by yeme yemen. furthermore the government has been transferred to aden. this i believe will improve the living conditions for citizens

cohesion. allow me to urge the security council resolution, indeed, convey credibility of the council itself. i do hope that efforts made by the united nations will be crowned with success. we'll ensure that they're acting in line with our people who are so patient and so sincere. terrorism is a true threat. we've endeavored with all--to the extent of our power to come baccombat terrorism. this in at this point with

situation, some 80% of the country is reliant on some form of humanitarian assistance. it was a troubled, poor country before this conflict really kicked off, and it's only gotten worse. the first concern is bringing stability for the people, and also, of course, brokering some political solution that can pave the way forward to a more viable yemen. we heard president hadi discussing his desire for that to happen. we heard him point fingers at iran for its role in supplying the houthis, he said with weapons and support. we heard president rouhani yesterday saying that their country wanted to help bring democracy to yemen, but from the point of view hadi and the international point of view they recognize hadi's government.
