humanitarian solution to the syrian problem. we need the political solution that would put an end to this suffering. jordan, my country hosts today about 1,400,000 syrian citizens, in addition to large numbers of refugees from other countries, and despite our limited capabilities, my country has almost exhausted its ability to host those refugees in the absence of international support to share the building. we today see the painful pictures of these people of ancient civilization and culture. the international community as a whole, should assume its responsibilities. mr. president, it is important,

indeed, to emphasize that we should comply and fully implement the resolution of the security council regarding combatting terrorism. we say that we in jordan are at the forefront of the international efforts that seek to combat terrorism. that, the military level, the security level, or the idealogical field, his majesty has emphasized that this war is our war, a war inside islam. it is the [ inaudible ] of this age who are distorting the image of our religion, the religion of [ inaudible ] the religion that preaches acceptance of others, that preaches peace, that preaches dialogue. his majesty has stressed day

terrorism. john terrett, he went through a whole laundry list of concerning for jordan, including the necessity for a two-state solution, talked about iraq, yemen, the big serious problem of refugees who have been flowing into jordan from syria, not to mention the refugees who have been in jordan from other countries in recent years. >> jordan is one of the rotating members of the security council. one of the ten that come around ever year two years, and when they get a chance to speak, they really get every issue in that they can, because it's a global audience, and although people in north america may not be interested in everything he said, back home they will be. jordan, of course, a very important country. it's one of only two arab countries to have signed a peace deal with israel, the other being egypt. and he was a bit rambling there, but he talked -- but remember,

there are two major storm systems in the atlantic, as the east coast is being soaked by heavy rain and flooding. these pictures from the northern part of the state, creekings and sewers overflowing in virginia. in some areas, roads and streets are under 5 to 7 feet of water. let's bring in nicole mitchell.

>> it is the potential over a number of days, the front will stay in place giving us cumulative rain. we had the heavy rain that moved through the south, places like virginia came together with a cold front and then all of that moisture has been squeezing its way now through the northeast. but it is not going to be over in the near future, already a number of flood watchings and warnings, even though the current radar looks like it is clearing out, the front staying in place will give us some possibilities. but then you can see a resurgence along that boundary for the next few days from the mid-atlantic north ward, and especially the mid-atlantic, it looks like chances for heavier rain. the closer you get to the coastline, the higher the amount. today especially some places

seeing possibly 8 inches or more. and adding to that over the next couple of days. same thing for the mid-atlantic area. and then as you get further interior, but heavy amounts of rain for a couple of days, and behind that frontal system, searchtures have been dropping 10 or 15 degrees in some cases, so if you were still breaking out the shorts and t-shirts today, you might want to have the sweater ready tomorrow. the other system is hurricane joaquin, and it is really slowly moving near the bahamas right now. the first line is the next three days, not making a lot of progress. it's the new days after that, later into this weekend it looks like it could steer to the north. so we will keep that monitored. >> complicated weather. i better pull out my map book.
