we begin with what could be a big blow to i.s.i.l., the u.s. military said 10 i.s.i.l. leaders will be killed in air strikes, including a person link said to the attacks in paris. the news coming a day after iraqi forces drove i.s.i.l. fighters from the center of ramadi. 70 miles from baghdad. >> the u.s. says one of the i.s.i.l. leaders killed in syria was linked to the paris attacks last month that killed 130 people, and for which i.s.i.l. claimed responsibility, the pentagon says this man, this 17-year-old. killed in a u.s. drone strike in syria on christmas eve, had been in contact with this man. the 28-year-old a bud, killed in a police raid in a paris suburb, the leader of the cell that carried out the series of

there's more fighting to do. >> reporter: the pentagon released a kill list and u.s. drone video showing iraqi forces raiding their flag over a government compound as they declared ramadi liberated from i.s.i.l. the pentagon told a different story. showing in green parts of ramadi that have been secured, and indicating a quarter of the city needs to be cleared of remnants of i.s.i.l. fighters. police in belgium announced that they charge said two people with planning an attack in bruces. the suspect allegedly targetting landmarks. they were apprehended after a series of raids that took place on sunday and monday. the plot involved a series of attacks similar to those carried out. >> and a husband and wife interested in joining i.s.i.l.

with a large-scale bombing in london. they wanted to mark the 10th anniversary of the july 7th, 2005, attacks on the transit system. they used twitter to ask for advice on whether to attack a shopping center the taliban breakaway group is claiming responsibility for a suicide bombing in north-western pakistan. the attack happened in madan. 26 people have been killed there, dozens hurt. police say the bombing happened outside the regional office of a government agency that issued identity cards. >> translation: i was offering my prayers in my house when the blast occurred. it was a huge blast. when i came run, there was dead bodies. >> there were few attacks. the blast comes two days after

debate in how police officers treat african americans. following the the death of eric garner and others. >> there's a trend of bias across the country when we look at police officer-involved shootings of african-americans. we arrived police chief whether racial bias played a roll in tamir rice's case. >> there's bias in reporting. there's bias in the criminal justice system and in the post office. you know, whether that played a role in the decision, i don't know. you'll have to talk to the members of the grand jury and the prosecutor's office. >> do you think it plays a role. >> everyone has a bias. the police department says it's launching its own investigation. and the department of justice is reviewing the case.

a chicago police officers pled not guilty to first degree murder charges. officer van dyk is charged with the shooting of la can mack donald. they want the trial televised. two other shootings could make it difficult for van dyk's definition. >> did you think you were a hero? >> reporter: jason van dyk was heckled a bit. he stayed quiet and said nothing at all in the brief court appearance in which his attorney entered a not guilty plea. he faces murder and conduct unbecoming. his lawyer wants cameras in the courtroom and want people to get to know him. >> he wants his story out. so he's not seen as a cold-blooded killer. >> reporter: la can's family want it televised.

>> we believe it will be in the best interest of fairness and justice if it was televised. >> van dyk shot 17-year-old mcdonald in october 2014, after he was suspected of breaking into cars and armed with a knife. his sworn testimony, and corroborated by the other officers was that mcdonald lunged at him and van dyk had to back up. a, of the video contradicted that account. showing mcdonald moving away from the officers. the footage touched on constant protests for a month. >> why do you shoot first, and ask questions later. >> now the latest police involved shooting, the first in the city since the release of that tape. over the weekend a single officer shot dead two people at the same time. college student ley gear and his neighbour betty jones. la kwon's family says it

a defense expert testify said that his wealthy parents coddled him. meaning he was so wealthy and spoilt. couch was sentenced to probation and rehabilitation and no gaol time. he was ordered not to drink. when this video, showing him taking part in a drunken game of beer pong, couch and his mum disappeared, sparking a manhunt. what we expect all along was a plan to disappear. that they had something that was almost akin to a going away party before they left town. >> anderson believes the pair fled in november. marshals are working with agencies to deport them. it's not clear if they had accomplices. in a handful of months, couch will furn 19. once back, authorities want the

for thousands in louisiana, they could lose food stamps due to what some call a mean spirited decision by outgoing gort bobby jindal. we have more from new orleans. >> i stressed this as much as i can. >> since losing my job at a new orleans community center a year ago. it was tough finding city work. >> it's not like i haven't been looking. if i have the it here, going in to straighten the bathrooms... >> she's worried if she doesn't have a job by friday, the $$194 in food stamp benefits could be cut off. >> why should i have to fight for food right now? why should i have to fight to drink water? >> reporter: more than 30,000 people in louisiana are in the same situation.

they have until january 1st to find employment working 20 hours a week or risk losing food stamps. >> for years, states with higher than everything unemployment have been granted a federal waiver, allowing low income adults without children to receive food stamps, even if they are not looking for a job. the states have the waiver in place. despite one of the highest unemployment rates, outgoing mayor bobby jindal decided no to renew it saying: >> it's not trying to get on a programme, no, you still out looking for work, the stamps we do receive is not for them to lay off of. >> some advocates called the move mean spirited. saying the programme is a federal benefit that does not impact the state's budget.

>> the problem is not that people do not want to work. the job training programs are not there. we should be focused on getting people connected to job training, not taking away food. >> the louisiana governor elect has sent a letter to the u.s. department of agriculture asking that the food stamp waiver be re-instated. >> i'll get up every day fighting. but edwards doesn't take office until january 11th. and the benefits are said to expire on january 1st. won eka davis plans to visit a food bank in case benefits are cut off. at the same time she'll be more aggressive in looking for work. >> still ahead tonight - disappearing culture. why chinatown's are shrinking and american cities from coast to coast. >> plus, a priest.
