a trade deal of these of you china and in fact most of the sort of early indications coming out of the administration suggest that the economic nationalism protectionism that trump sort of comes to represent might win the day in china i'm not sure if he's going to announce any sort of trade punishments against china but there are certainly some in the works and certainly some being considered i would be very surprised if he would announce that in beijing for example but it wouldn't surprise me if sort of after coming back from this trip if he speaks to the chinese and they don't give him what he wants or they don't see some movement that he would like that he could have some retaliatory measures lined up for after he returns and what another goal which may or may not be on the agenda i'm thinking of you know reviving the six party talks which obviously went away some years ago. yes so recently there's been some news out of china that suggests to me that they

the chinese might be trying to pursue this. for one they have smoothed over relations with kit with jay in over the fat issues slightly in in recent days and there was also some reporting that she jinping and kim jong un had exchanged some sort of personal message. so this could be a potential avenue for china i know that they are you know they are interested in pursuing the six party talks because that had a higher profile role for them and if they sort of come up with that offer i think trump should would be wise to take it because right now his pressure or his strategy towards north korea has relied almost exclusively on a pressure campaign and there hasn't been a real avenue for the north koreans to take that would be acceptable to to them to sort of reduce pressure so they've just sort of ramped up the pressure in return and i think successful course of diplomacy depends on both pressure and a viable off ramp that could be could be had and i think if the chinese are trying
