rightly reporting about and i think that that is very much where he's looking to turn attention to next and his behavior is very much designed for a domestic it is not just to domestic audience but for trump followers in particular isn't it. yeah very much so and quite frankly who he thinks is going to be convincing by picking a fight with can a doan's of all people quite frankly i mean you know canada is obviously america's closest ally when it's all just allies and in the last several days we've seen several. rather bizarre attempts by donald trump to to pick a fight with canada you know talking about the fact that they pose a national security risk suggesting bizarrely that the white house down in eighteen twelve and of course that was here in england doing that and now of course insulting just introduce quite personally and directly if it's a pattern of behavior i think donald trump seems to be very happy when he's got a an individual to fixate upon we sort through the primaries we've seen in the

first year or so of his administration it just happens to be. ill fortune to be in the firing line this week and it will no doubt be someone else next week or so what will the blowback be from this we're already hearing that this is the g six plus one now the u.s. is a strange front from the grouping where will this go next i think one needs to take a bit more of a long term view with regard to this there's no doubt that there is great tension at the moment with donald trump's presidency and the rest of the leaders of the g seven i think in terms of national interest it's in the national interests of all seven nations to pull together and get beyond this the great challenge i think however is the extent to which donald trump's personality and seeming temper tantrums could very well hinder long term development since talking about trying to bring russia back into the fold that's going to get great pushback from the other members indeed i think if anybody benefits from this situation it is putin sitting

a significant role in ensuring that this. the summit is taking place now during the talks that are taking place at the a standard which is the sort of presidential building here in singapore we've heard the singapore prime minister say to kim jong un that he's welcome here and in return the north korean leader has said that he's grateful for what singapore has done because singapore according to the prime minister here has spent something like fifteen million u.s. dollars half of it on security to ensure this summit takes place that's a big investment by the singaporeans and is a reminder of course they have very deep pockets here but the prime minister of singapore says it's a small price to pay in the interests of peace on the korean peninsula so this is the first photo opportunity the first time we've seen kim jong un of course in singapore these two countries do have diplomatic relations but this.
