system and it seems that they have found those thirteen people in a dry pot all day caves we do not know the condition that the boy was in the football coach coach or in but this has been almost ten days now the baby is inside that cave so remarkable news coming out from the governor general problems confirming that all have been found alive. we think now joins us on the line from china riah scott this must be a huge relief for the parents although we did at the station know what kind of condition the boys are in. absolutely not we don't know too many details at this stage but we we've been here from for about a week on now and we know that earlier on in the day we had indications that the family members might have been pulled off to a certain side and being told that they were going to be transported to chen while i'm in the chain drive problem now headquarters capitol saying why about an hours
7:04 pm
away from where the cow or the cave is and so we know that. the last several hours there's been some more activity inside the cave when it's been pouring and what's very interesting is like how things have been going over the last couple of days because the rain has subsided because those dive teams have been able to get a little bit more further into the cave and we're hoping everyone is hoping and speculating that there is they would be able to get a little bit further into the areas they really want to get in checkley that beach area inside one of these big caverns that they were looking to get into where they thought. the boys and their coats might have been and it sounds as though that's what it is but again right now just coming from the governor of province just this this notice if you will this notification that they were found the not at this

stage not too many details just yet on how to thank you very much indeed and we'll come back to shortly when more information than just thanks scott. the u.n. says more than a quarter of a million syrians have now been displaced by the government's offensive to retake dara province in the country southwest jordan is set to hold talks with the regime regimes ally russia this week in the hope of paving the way for a cease fire comes after opposition talks with russia broke down when splits emerged between rebel groups say the hunter has more from beirut in neighboring lebanon. syrians plea as front lines continue to shift in that our province the united nations says two hundred seventy thousand people have already been uprooted during the syrian government's military offensive now in its third week there remain in towns under opposition control are being battered by air strikes and

shelling and the fear is an escalated military campaign now that talks collapse was going on in there is a military escalation to pressure the rebel factions to accept the russian military is gone dishes to on the assault those conditions are he relating for the opposition they just want them to give up everything after years of psych revises they can't accept that. the opposition delegation involved in talks with the russian military which were mediated by jordan formally pulled out of negotiations and it's not clear if all rebel commanders support that decision but those who have made separate deals are being called traitors to. the representatives of a handful of towns have been signing so-called reconciliation deals with the government or what amounts to a surrender syrian state television is showing people celebrating the return of government rule more often than not there is little choice such deals stave off

further military action and prevent more suffering but anyone wanted by the state such as rebel fighters and those involved in opposition activities or who worked in rebel run administrations leave. rebel areas are shrinking more than sixty percent of daraa is now under the control of president bashar al assad's forces rebels still hold parts of the provincial capital that are city and areas along the borders of the occupied golan heights and jordan including then crossing the opposition is in a weak position it has been abandoned by its allies the united states told them not to expect to be back to militarily jordan close its borders to weapons shipments and refugees instead it says it wants to focus on mediating a ceasefire but a ceasefire is not what the procedure and government camp wants. it is pushing for a military victory a win in the southern corner of syria would follow significant gains close to the capital in recent months then like now it is the civilians who pay the heaviest

price. could she see let me ask every person with a conscience to help stop the shelling and what are they shelling areas where there are children helpless elderly and sick people the children are hungry and without food we only brought tea and sugar with us please for us this criminal and the shelling. that is unlikely to happen that this isn't by some of the opposition not to sit at the negotiating table a stepped up military campaign especially since the government stated goal is to recapture southern syria. beirut. mexico's president elect is vowing to stamp out corruption fight drug cartels and reduce social inequality after his resoundingly win on sunday it was third time lucky for andrus when you look as obrador will become less goes first left wing

president in three decades latin america editor lucien human reports from mexico city. who. is times of a bridled violence and corruption mexicans have taken a leap of faith was a hero myself. we all want to be able to live and work in our country without being killed but lopez obrador we believe there will finally be real change was for the first time mexicans have chosen a left wing populist and despond. to lead them better known as he represents social change and up up all honesty i know. i will not let you down i will not disappoint you i am conscious of my historic responsibility i don't want to go down in history as a bad president. says he will begin by eradicating corruption which he says is the
7:10 pm
principal calls of poverty and violence i just read through college tuition expects you would see his ambitious goals this mystery because he has been trying to be short on details about how the once to implement what he calls a radical transformation of mexico. he has explained that he'll pay for ambitious social programs and subsidies to the poorest with an estimated twenty five billion dollars he says corrupt politicians steal and that he'll even sell the presidential plane to save money on his opponents say he has a messiah complex and warned that he will undermine democratic institutions and send investors flee but for millions who voted for. he represents the change this country desperately needs that the government cannot do it alone but the sea will say they cannot do it along either so we have to join forces in a vase is of honesty in a vase is of a real fight against corruption and in

a basis for good. system to give us justice for all. of this all that of course is easier said than done and given the extraordinary expectations he's awoken has those job will be all the more daunting seen human as just mexico city. or home is live in mexico city first john it's been described as a sea change in the mexican federal landscape but not everyone is happy. you're exactly right here and i think people in the country really come under three camps we saw a lot of the first come last night in the central mexico city plaza there through but that man has finally got into power they see him as personally honest they he him is able to bring the change the mexico needs from a political class that hasn't been able to deal with corruption crime and poverty there's many others in
7:12 pm
a second category they're down about not preserve their slightly worried about what he might do they don't know what comes next but they feel that they just couldn't go on with the political class that's been governing mexico for so long and then there's a third category of people that are sincerely worried about no principle or daughter a man who after losing the last two elections said that there was both fraud and then accept the results business leaders they've been called by lopez obrador part of the power mafia as he said and they actually instructed obliquely their employees before the election to be very wary about voting for president lopez of president elect now lopez obrador so this country is very split although he's got a very high popular vote here by people that believe implicitly in him and people that have many doubts. and join us in the international reaction to his victory. well i think probably the most important reaction from mexico the neighbor to the
7:13 pm
north in which he's had a very turbulent relationship recently under pressure. the trump president trump tweeted last night and said that he was looking forward to working with president elect lopez obrador and congratulated him president loafers over a dog team tweeted back and said basically the same thing now that relationship's going to be very interesting to watch because both men are instinctively protectionist both instinctively want to put their own country first they're quite strong leaders by individualists lopez obrador is and he's always knows his own mind he says openly and very stubborn i'll do what i want to do so we'll have to see how that plays out also leaders to the left in latin america have been messaging him messages of support the leader of venezuela president at the rose saying this is an open avenue of friendships they don't see like to pull him that way it's about shrinking bloc of leftist leaders and john that mexico has just come
7:14 pm
out of the world cup how is that going to go down. where we could you maybe have see people just walk thing passes here they set up screens in the main monument the angel of independence to watch this game against brazil but to be honest we were talking about a political sea change earlier it's a case of some things change some things change stay the same mexico's going out in the second round of the world cup now for the seven time this really is a bit of a national jinx it keeps happening to them so it's a case of the same again john heilemann in mexico thank you very much indeed. about our breaking news now the rescue teams finding the twelve boys and their coach been missing in a cave in thailand ascott hi-lo is in chiang rai and joins us live and i know scott the details have been patchy but it was very difficult for the rescuers to get as far in to the cave system how are they going to get these boys out now.
7:15 pm
that's a very good question lauren and this is a question that we've been really kind of exploring over the last week since we've been here and we know now that the professional governor has said that the twelve boys and their coach have been found alive that's about it quite honestly now over the last week we've been reporting on like how close they've been getting to this one cavern the posse obese cavern with in this massive cave complex where they thought the boys and their coats might have been now again we can only assume that's where they were found but we don't know exactly how they're being how they've been brought out how they were found are they all safe are they all healthy those the big questions we just don't know yet no over the last maybe four or five days the professional governor of chang dr province has said that you know every day he will give us information but he hasn't been giving us too much information
7:16 pm
but lately we have been giving incremental idea that they been they the divers inside the cave has been closer to where they thought these guys these boys and their close might be and now we're hearing he's saying that they are alive and they're well but again that's all the details we have right now and we mentioned that beach because of it i mean just for people who don't know the cave complex until how how big is it likely to be and i mean i suppose the fact they managed to survive in there was just a reasonable amount of air in that but. can you give us an idea of the scale of it . absolutely you know so this whole process has been going on for nine days so when you look at a cave like most of us think of a cave as like kind of a small little enclosure but this is a massive labyrinth of kilometers of caves and tunnels and a lot of what a lot of space and these boys knew this space because they lived here they grew up
7:17 pm
here so they knew exactly that kind of the basic layout but what's been very is single for the last several days we didn't know where they were or how far the rescue teams needed to get into but we know now is that most likely it came again details are very sketchy but look most likely we know that it was probably from this tots you have beach area because authorities have been telling us the last couple of days that's what they've been focused on they've been focused on getting these divers tied a navy seal divers into this area international organizations international experts helping them get to this spot earlier today we were out by the cave mouth and there were dozens and dozens of canisters air canisters to help the divers get further in and so we knew that there was probably something going on but again we've been seeing this for the last several days but now we're hearing from the preventer governor yet that yes they have been found all twelve and their coach but again we
7:18 pm
don't really know what the conditions are we don't know where they are right now that is the only line really know coming out from from the provincial governor lauren hunter thank you very much about you getting more information about that dramatic rescue in thailand thank you. thanks national organization for migration says the number of people who've died trying to cross from libya to europe this year has passed a thousand or two hundred people have drowned in the mediterranean and last few days alone it's believed to be due to a rush in migrants trying to make the dangerous journey before an anticipated crackdown by the european union. so far this year ten thousand migrants have been brought back to shore by the libyan coast guard and put into detention so there's a big increase by the libyan coast guard in preventing smuggling. at the same time the proportion of the number of deaths is increasing we think this is because the
7:19 pm
smugglers are getting more desperate and are taking desperate measures and absolutely not caring for the safety of the migrants putting them to sea in unsafe vessels. the german parties which make up the ruling coalition are holding meetings to try to resolve a political crisis over migration the country's interior minister offered to resign saying he isn't satisfied with an e.u. deal struck by chancellor angela merkel to reduce migration levels aust as a whole her needs the bavarian christian social union which was part of math of governing coalition able to turn migrants away from the border if they've already applied for asylum in another european country getting the odds with a chance at the mccain joins us live from berlin so high stakes stuff dominic what are the possible outcomes here. very high stakes indeed lauren the point here to make is that meeting so far for both angela merkel and horses there was one show jewel meeting with two of them held in parliament with the president of the party
7:20 pm
the speaker of the parliament the elder statesman of conservatism if you would group that way mr scheuer which and i say that was unshared chilled earlier on today after they emerged from that they went into another meeting this time at the christian democratic union head courses that's again a meeting of hosts the whole for an angle america with the point here is it's not really a meeting of minds between these two the dynamic between them is poor is frosty one way of demonstrating that is most desirable for his given an interview today to the german newspaper this is. where he says that he is not prepared to be sacked fired by a chancellor whose only chancellor because he put all that shows as i say the essence of this dynamic is poor given the fact that he announced he was prepared to resign and yet rode back from the us lots of questions let's put some of those to my guest from rasmussen global given all the things that have been happening in the past twenty four hours where do you see this going next i think we are beyond any
7:21 pm
rational explanations of this this pretty much looks like a personal vendetta or of zero four who wants to see. merkel's had rolling and so therefore but by doing so he is ruining also the reputed of his party and the credibility and my expectation is that we will see another emergency meeting tonight and if he's not the one who will resign then his party might withdraw him from the strong because he's so toxic for the party at the polls numbers of numbers of the four they see as you in polls are going down the street rapidly and the longer he's doing this kind of rally the more he will hurt his own party the essence of the position that machall has come back with from brussels was pretty much what the c.s.u. had seemed to say they wanted this idea of an e.u. wide solution of other countries being prepared bilaterally all multilaterally to
7:22 pm
take back migrants that sort of thing some idea of more control on borders why does the c.s.u. have a problem with what michael is come back from brussels with i don't think you see as you has a problem because a lot of statements by other leading see as you figures. pave the way last week for wording where they have a could have gone in front of the microphones and say ok so we kicked off this dynamic nobody expected this but it was the see it's you who after three years actually made this happening but he refused to do so and this is why a lot of people reportedly from from media yesterday in munich were so confused within his own party so why is he doing so he was the only one insisting that she did not fulfill the criteria she set up so obviously again this seems to be a very personal issue between him and the chancellor of africa thank you very much indeed so lots of questions going around as it were about what might happen next the thing to remember here is the two parties concerned historically very close
7:23 pm
a general elections they only put up a joint candidate for the chancellorship angola machall that is who has governed. this country for the past thirteen years with the christian social union which exploded which demonstrates why it's so strange as all of you saying that you have this this dynamic going so badly wrong right now will follow obviously all the developments which will emerge in the next few hours john mccain thank you very much indeed. your inspector general says he's heard unimaginable accounts of killing and the rape from revenge or refugees who fled from in martyr bangladesh and to new terror has been visiting overcrowded camps in bangladesh's cox's bizarre distrait where hundreds of thousands of people are sheltering he says refugees are living in terrible conditions there and has called for me and not be held responsible for what he describes as crimes against the ranger all these people here in these tragic circumstances and these if we are martyred no responsibilities
7:24 pm
for them is not acceptable we need to push and we will be pushing in the right direction and fully in line with the principles that have always been the principles of united nations in the motion to. the needs for every citizen to have a country that they can call their a philippine mayor has been shot dead by a sniper during an official ceremony. man turn your head really was taking part in the weekly flag raising in town your own city video of his assassination was posted on social media had previously led a controversial book a shame campaign in which suspected drug dealers were paraded around the streets he's also alleged have been involved in the drugs trade. don't trump's former personal lawyer has hinted that he may corporate with any investigation into the president in american t.v. interview michael cohen distant in distancing himself from trump said his main
7:25 pm
loyalties are to his family and his country kern is under investigation for possible fraud and electoral law violations he admits paying a pornstar hundred thirty thousand dollars to keep quiet about an alleged affair with trump before he was president is coming from a white house correspondent kimberly health issues in washington to me asking if i can does this apparent change of tone from michael cohen. given the relationship between donald trump and cohen for more than a decade it is particularly significant because what he has essentially revealed in this interview here in the united states michael cohen that is is a willingness to turn to the man that he defended for so many years and that this essentially if he does cooperate with federal prosecutors in their ongoing probe of whether or not there was any interference in the twenty sixteen u.s. election whether or not there was any collusion between donald trump's presidential
7:26 pm
campaign and russia he suggested that his willingness to possibly provide incriminating information against the president to prosecutors is something he is considering given the fact that he is underscored very clearly that his loyalty is not only to his family but to his country the certainly sends a message to donald trump and this is also sort of part of a broader probe if you will given the fact that we know that for a very long time robert mueller the special prosecutor who is conducting this investigation has been going after targets close to the president sort of a standard playbook in police work if you will if you're trying to go ahead and get a bigger target often you try to get those around that big target like the president to talk so that seems to be was playing out here as you mentioned the intro there baikal cohen is being investigated for bank fraud wire fraud and also the very damaging payment whether or not he was trying to silence any negative information in the lead up to the u.s.
7:27 pm
vote in two thousand and sixteen with regard to the president's alleged affair with stormy daniels the adult film star but this has to be making the president very very nervous given the fact that michael cohen in terms of loyalty was one of the most trusted with the president he once said he would take a bullet for the president now he seems to be signaling that that very long time relationship and loyalty is no longer ironclad as it once was can really help it thank you very much. the french government has admitted possible security failings after a new tourist gangster was able to use a helicopter to stage a daring broad daylight jailbreak his second in the last five years huge manhunt is underway as nearly three thousand officers searched for had one fade it was serving time for armed robberies open report the sound of the helicopter rotors on the prison security along caught on an inmate smartphone the prison staff were seen running across the yard. but by this point red one feet is already on his way to

freedom the hijacked helicopter disappearing into a clear blue sky the french authorities have been badly embarrassed by the lapse in security the justice minister visited the prison i did miss the drones seen flying in the area recently may have been connected to the escape plan. do we have a commander that had probably started the area would throw the judicial inquiry that is underway will certainly say that led to this spectacular. forty six year old fayed earned his notoriety through a string of brazen armed robberies and jewel theft in the one nine hundred ninety s. he was sentenced to thirty years in jail but released after ten and claimed to have reformed himself writing a gritty autobiography in two thousand and nine and making several t.v. appearances to promote it but a botched robbery in twenty ten led to

a police shootout and the death of policewoman orally fouquet and after his first prison break in twenty thirteen he was designated france's most wanted man when he was recaptured fayyad was facing a full twenty five years behind bars. sunday's commando style jailbreak involved three armed men who hijacked a helicopter from a flight school and forced the pilot to drop them into the prison yard two of the men then set off smoke bombs and used power tools to cut their way through to a visiting room where fayed was talking to his brother the whole episode took just ten minutes the helicopter was later found in a northeastern suburb of paris nearly three thousand police officers are now assigned to the manhunt for fayed he is once again france's most wanted man paul brennan al-jazeera for his.
