along with the russians helped broker this deal the door damien's really want to make sure that the security is maintained along that border so that those displaced people feel confident enough to go home. for the first time in three years the syrian regime is back in control of its fronted with jordan this military convoy flying russian and syrian flags rumble towards the nasi border crossing minutes after opposition fighters agreed to surrender terms they had little choice in the face of overwhelming russian firepower the fighters will hand over heavy weapons and thousands of them and their families will be given safe passage to opposition held areas in the north of syria syrian government forces swept through down a province backed up by russian as strikes but as part of the surrender terms they'll leave for villages they captured earlier these and the rest of the border area will be supervised by the russian military. for bashar al assad it was

a small price to pay for taking back the border this is a vital trade route that the regime would eventually want to reopen with jordanian agreement data covers most of the area held by the opposition in southwest syria one of their last remaining strongholds they still hold connla province at the fronted with the israeli occupied golan heights recovering control of this area because our side's next goal nearly three weeks of fighting for data has displaced more than three hundred thirty thousand syrians according to the u.n. tens of thousands of them headed to the jordanian border where they've been stuck with little or no access to food water and sanitation. so bernard how important is this border crossing. it's very important to trade with tween jordan syria and the northern parts of the middle east billions of dollars of trade flowed through our border from beirut sports from

turkey that line potentially now could be soon reopened boosting the jordan a jordanian economy boosting the syrian economy the priority for the moment is to make sure this area stays secure that is a main jordanian concern and they've been speaking to the russians about that in march as again today that the russian defense ministry announced parts of the terms of the deal which involved those opposition fighters getting their weapons back and being given safe passage to the north because the jordanians also want to make sure the russians and the syrians make sure that there are only russians and syrians patrolling this border jordan very concerned about iranian backed hezbollah militias being near here they were involved in this fight for a dollar jordan does not want this near the border and he's been speaking with his russian counterparts to make sure that that doesn't happen down bernard thanks very much. the world's chemical weapons watchdog has found evidence that chlorine gas

meters deep within this handwritten notes from the trip thirteen were delivered to the worried parents outside the. it was the first direct contact they've had since the boys went missing one read i love you mom i love you dad and he placed an order for his first meal when he gets out barbecued pork a seal diver added a note don't worry everyone is strong another note came from the twenty five year old football coach who took them into the cave he apologized to the parents and said they were being well taken care of the parents then wrote notes of their own also hand delivered the nearly five kilometers into the cave. twelve year old proper out is a novice mark at a temple just next to the football pitch where the boys were two weeks ago just before they went into the cave the temple is believed to be a guardian for the cave it's currently also acting as a base for some soldiers working on the rescue effort while a ton right now i want them to be patient and i want them out as soon as they can
4:13 pm
the head of the rescue operation says that the challenges they're facing are unprecedented and some of the most experience and best rescuers in the world are involved concerns are growing about oxygen levels in the sections of the cave not under water and not just for the area where the boys in the coach are also where rescuers are staging equipment and working from now on only essential stuff will be in the cave he called every risk you dive a reaches the limit and the third chamber i cannot go further than that such a risk you mission has never happened before on this planet it requires both an expert knowledge and skill maybe. he went on to say that more than one hundred locations above the cave have been drilled looking for an alternate escape route as the rescue leaders plot the safest way to get the boys out the more than one thousand on hand to help with that plan is launched grab as much rest as they can it's got hotter al-jazeera chiang rai. ok let's talk to a senior meteorologist who joins us here on set in doha there's lots of talk of
4:14 pm
monsoon rains there's lots of talk of flash flooding but surely the issue for the rescue operation is it can be it can be raining one hundred miles away but you don't know where the rain water is going to drain to that's right i mean it will rain across that region if we have a look at the stats for the month so the average rain is around three hundred millimeters for the month so it's going to rain heavily at some point during this month that hasn't rained for about three or four days that the chances are in the next few days it will rain heavily it's that time of year but of course the rain might not be coming from here because as is the way with geology the water flows through rocks so this is a huge mountain range and the water could be coming from hundreds if not thousands of miles away and also there's talk of well they've been doing this if they've been drilling sample holes to see what they might encounter if they decide to go from the top to get to these children and their football coach but they don't know what kind of layering of rocks and mud rocks and mud they may find surely and how that
4:15 pm
will react if the rain water then in effect is presented with a new point that it can enter into the cave system that's right because what's already in the rocks is a major concern but what could also come into the rocks and if you start drilling you can make it worse that's also a major concern so just to give you an example it hasn't rained very heavily in the last three or four days there's not been torrentially heavy monsoon rains that they could have had but they stopped draining out the water for ten twelve minutes yesterday and the water rose by telephone to meters so there's still a regular flow of what is going to be as they get is that either the the the base water is at the height the groundwater is at that height so it will now rise to whatever level it wants to or this water flowing through the rock i mean this is lime scale so it limestone so it will drip through the water it could be entering from hundreds of miles away and then flowing down so even if it doesn't rain where the rocks. all where we were focusing on these caves it could still fill with water
4:16 pm
when it comes to the monsoon rains and their arrival is it a complete and variable or is there any way of predicting this. monsoons are such that they come and they go they're not here they are and they stay for weeks and weeks they come and go one day will be heavy one day won't be so heavy often the forecast for monsoon rains on to the accurate as the weather from that will come through europe will go across australia there is easier to see because you can see the rains coming you can see the line the cloud coming on the satellite picture you know the time that it will hit you know when it will come you know the rain it will give however that in a monsoon it develops in situ it develops over the area and so it could turn out to be a lot heavier than you might expect it to be and if one is used to living with areas of low pressure as we are coming from europe there's that idea that low pressure areas hang on to mountains they hang onto hilly countryside is that as a concept to where these kids are trapped or not the entire monsoon is developed on
4:17 pm
the sort of concept with high and low pressure but where those children are in thailand doesn't have the same effect it has a monsoon and that can give a showers at any time all we know is the average for this month is three hundred millimeters and they've had nothing or very little for the past few days so the chance of there being a lot in the next few days has to be greater thanks very much. twenty more still to come here on the news for you including a flare up over fuel protests a big price rises take a violent turn in haiti also ahead. i'm charlie rangel in austria three thousand metres up taking you inside this mountain to a new museum dedicated to james bond. and in the sport roger federer remains on course for a mind's title at the all england club details coming up in thirty minutes with foreign.

i am told. the weather sponsored by cattle. hello there we've been hearing about the rainfall in japan so let's see if it's going to get any better over the next few days is the system responsible for our latest batch of very heavy rain you can see it snaking all the way across hunchy and up into key used to there but certainly given us more heavy rain on top of what we've already seen hiroshima there is a reported two hundred and ninety three millimeters of rain to give you some kind of idea in the u.k. a wet day is classed as somewhere between five to ten millimeters so two hundred ninety three is clearly an awful lot of rain but the problem has been that this has been with us for a good while now we've just seen rain after rain after rain and indeed in three
