8:09 pm
are these anti-government protests that's why you saw that very strong speech from the secretary of state mike pompei o sensually this is sort of what the united states has been carefully doing moving forward and that is trying to pressure the top leaders in iran so not only is there the strong rhetoric but we know that there are going to be anti-government broadcasts that are going to be put together by the united states and broadcasting into iran on social media radio television why is all of this happening while we also know that in addition to withdrawing from the iran nuclear agreement the tie to that is the sanctions was very tough sanctions that were lifted as a result of the twenty fifteen agreement snapping now back into place so we've got the first ones happening in about three weeks that goes towards the banking sector but the real heavy hitting sanctions that will be snapping back into place in november those ones targeting oil markets and at the time that donald trump pulled

the u.s. out of that agreement he said that this is just the beginning and expect this to be painful and we're seeing evidence of that in kimberley and maybe hard to say but is that likely to escalate or deescalate. at this point it appears the united states is quite comfortable with the escalation if you look at the statements that are being made by a number of different members of the trumpet ministration and this goes beyond sort of just the united states and iran the united states is accusing iran of many things including destabilizing the broader region that's one of the things they felt that the. did not address so it appears that the united states is not only escalating the this but continues to do so given the fact that one of the staff changes they've made in recent months is the adding of the national security advisor john bolton and john bolton is very very clear about his views of iraq he believes that it's destabilizing the region he believes that it is anti israel and

this is a very israel friendly administration and he even called for the overthrowing of the iran government so it does not appear at this point although they have said in the past they're willing to negotiate with iran's leaders the united states does not appear to be trying to deescalate the tensions kimberly how kit with the latest from washington kimberly thank you kurdish security forces have killed three suspected i still find who's who attacked the governor's building in. the gunmen fired at guards before entering the building and taking hostages later security forces around the building were targeted by a suicide bomber a government employee was killed during the clashes and two policeman who did it being is the seat of the kurdish regional government that has largely been spared isolette tax in recent years imran khan has more now from baghdad. the attack began around seven am local time when gunman burst into the gov building injuring two security forces soldiers that were on duty that they then moved to the third

floor and started to open fire from a third floor window on security forces outside it was at that stage that the kurdish security forces cordoned off the area and mounted their attack they went into the building moving up to the third floor about three hours in four hours into the into the situation a suicide bomber blew himself up and then snipers killed one of the attackers and then injured another that person then later succumbed to is injuries in the hospital now the attack was all over in about five hours but there are still plenty of questions to be asked who was responsible and how were they able to get into that building will could if politicians blaming eisel for this certainly bears the hallmarks of an ice let's hack multiple gunmen a suicide bomb so. politicians are very definitely have claimed responsibility as of yet however questions are being asked of the kurdish authorities themselves how

during the day on tuesday but i think for wednesday is generally looking drier and many of us could get away with a dry day still want to showers though are likely just around the coast of the caspian sea so to the north of tehran could be a couple of showers hip elsewhere though and across the region is just hot as you'd expect at this time of year forty five degrees the maximum in baghdad now here in doha it's been pretty windy over the past few days but the winds are easing and that will allow the temperatures to sneak a little bit higher so i think we'll get to around forty four or forty five degrees as we head through the next few days to the south of us there is more in the way of clouds over parts of a man and into yemen could just give us one or two showers particularly around. if we head down towards the southern parts of africa largely fine and dry for most of us here not really a great deal of cloud showing up on the satellite picture at all we'll see a bit of cloud i think in the eastern parts of mozambique that could give us a shower.
