zimbabwe's election at least one person has been killed the main opposition leader has accused the ruling party of trying to rig the results after the election commission an ounce that zanu p.f. had won a large majority in parliament the result of the presidential votes is yet to be announced the government insists all has been free and fair but the european union's election observer mission isn't overly convinced it's important to define the results shared in a manner which prevents a full form of transparency and accountability kluger breakdown results by polling stations so that they could piece received by party ages can be very fine to ensuring their contradictions. i think it would be very much important to heal the look of great transparency and that we have to see this all to give a clearer picture to the party that is elections were created will be speaking to
6:03 pm
our reporter malcolm webb in a moment who is in will our way oh as you can see him right there below is one of the big opposition areas outside the capital but we begin in harare and that is with her with also what is the scene right now in harare as we're reporting we are getting figures of one person being killed her. yes the police will give some kind of statement later on exactly how many people were killed and how many people were injured you can still smell the tear gas in the air the soldiers have gone but some riot police are still being deployed and water cannons like that one down the road there that is just outside the electoral commission because some of the protesters had tried to storm that building the police were deployed we're told because the. were deployed because the police couldn't control the protesters so the army had to come in and we heard them saying to the people protesting go home go home do not cause problems the people you see
6:04 pm
now are the ones who are going on the one part of the protesters were ordinary zimbabweans are just on their way home the instructions for this area because they started to have headquarters here that's where there's over there is a big five star hotel next to it where a lot of the election observers are staying and it's also where the commission building is as well so the suction is you don't stop annoyed you walk go straight home that's what people have been told and that's what many many people are doing the key thing now is those opposition supporters who insist the vote has been stolen they've threatened to come back but after seeing soldiers on the street how many of them are really going to do that it's a wait and see situation a key thing of course is how tense people are now and things are only going to get worse and resides only probably going to increase the longer it takes to release these presidential results. and heroin so we were looking at the pictures as you were speaking to us and you're obviously describing to us how the opposition supporters are feeling what about the opposition leader nelson chamisa will we be
6:05 pm
hearing from him himself especially before the results of the presidential elections are announced. we don't know he might have a press conference i mean he's been on social media basically saying that he's convinced he's won speaking to some of the other leaders in the party one man said that no one told opposition supporters to come onto the streets this was. just spontaneous with people and and that's it he said there's no guarantees that more people won't come onto the street once by the result is announced we don't know when that's going to be was supposed to be twelve thirty pm local time here the delays are because of a verification process the results have to be looked at by everyone before they are announced but if the opposition leader has lost nelson chamisa he has said he will not accept the ok we'll leave it there thank you carol giving us the update from harare now let's cross over to malcolm malcolm is a joining us from the city about the way you are as we're saying malcolm it's a rural opposition stronghold so what is the feeling there after the announcement
6:06 pm
of the parliamentary results. the province has ruled this is the zimbabwe second city where we're standing right now but the streets so far a car just a few minutes ago we saw police water cannon another ahmed police vehicles patrolling the streets actually keeping an eye on things but no one restaurant yet they called back continues in the capital harare we might see a little says hawk you know here there were demonstrations recently in november after the last time the army were on the streets of harare when they moved in to push out former leader robert mugabe and at the time there was a spontaneous protest here as well because it's so far a calm but as you say it is a region that sends to support the opposition and the reason but that's also connected to the army in the nineteen eighties overgaard he sent them here supposedly to put down an uprising of dissidents that the army refused to massacring twenty thousand civilians committing human rights abuses widespread
6:07 pm
torture this time this was the support base of one of the garveys political rivals people here complain that there hasn't been any justice for that no one's being held to account for the ruling party's presidential candidates anderson but i got was the state security minister at the time so a lot of people in the matter very long from him feel that he's connected to this great injustice to the pasta i haven't seen redress when the opposition says. there has been bias on behalf of the electoral commission have they put forward any evidence to back up these claims. one of the things that has this really been complaining about is rigging between the polling station process and during the counting process before those results being announced out what they say has been going on right now last night opposition say they apprehended a car about two hours east of here is small truck two hours east of harare carrying eleven boxes full of precinct ballots without proper documentation that the people
6:08 pm
driving that car manning it soon as they were stopped by position run off and disappeared and when they would give any explanations for those materials they say they're keeping those materials exactly as they are ready as evidence and for further investigation but a lot of opposition forces very skeptical they said the end the polling on on monday that they had results from ten thousand of the nearly eleven thousand polling stations and they said it gave main opposition candidate announcing to me such a clear victory that the results the parliamentary results are coming out since then seems to contradict it a lot of opposition supporters are very skeptical now really not going to believe ruling down is the big three if that's what's going on ok thank you so as we wait for an official announcement as well as the results of the presidential election you can head to al jazeera dot com this article it's on the home page and it's updated right around the clock fire teams on the ground in zimbabwe as well as our

6:10 pm
been accused of clinging to power still hasn't said if he'll try to run again catherine soit is in the capital kinshasa with an optics. the highlight for many people today was when john care of them but peered through the window at the spikey headquarters he was there for about fifteen minutes with his wife waving at the hundreds of supporters went to welcome him in the town people went into a frenzy singing his praises and chanting them before president president saying that he is the only candidate he is the only leader who can provide that change the leadership that this country needs very dramatically from the airport to this plate the school ahead by a very huge. contingent to fly again and support is what a block down the road wanting him to address them but i think one of the conditions he was given is that he cannot make scuttlebutt to address people that they are.
6:11 pm
did he provide the much needed momentum in this politics of the d r c over the years the opposition has been divided and we can't have people i think perhaps he could bring them together to rally behind one candidate and all this really making a lot of his opponents booking opposition and the ruling party very uncomfortable because people say he's still a very popular leader and in fact in two thousand and six he did he was the run up to presidential the kabila in a presidential runoff and a lot of people yes saying that he feels boat was stolen or earlier we heard from. the africa face and justice network which advocates for human rights and peacekeeping on the continent and he gave us his thoughts on bomba through a video message from washington take a look from prison. does
6:12 pm
not create the excitement that the president of south africa is on mandela created when he was released from prison even before he became president in my opinion just give him a reprieve in the same get him get to reach kill your enemies retaliate retaliate against those who did some wrong to you and there is no national agenda i will say in washington d.c. and bring in. the deputy program director for africa at the international crisis group thanks for speaking to us on the news good on al-jazeera has been away been away for ten years he has an ongoing case at the international criminal court that has to do with witness tampering could all of this hamper his ability to run in the upcoming election. yes it could our understanding is that
6:13 pm
the majority of president could below will try to claim that because he still has a pending conviction for witness tampering that he's will not be allowed to run for president if that occurs it will lead to massive demonstrations and that would be a big problem for running a successful incredible election campaign how often challenge does he really right now for the ruling party. well it's our understanding that he is a he is still a major political figure with lots of support particularly in the west in the north and so he is a very credible candidate to some degree it really depends on who will run it looks like he will try to run as an opposition candidate as will a former governor from the region and that's really going to complicate the
6:14 pm
political equation for president kabila that said what really is going to happen is all eyes are going to be on the president and what he decides to do next week when the deadline is for candidates to file their paperwork and to see whether he will try to run for a third term against the wishes of both the population and. it already has one of eleven holding as far as close to his chest what will he do well in short. president is quite worried that if a rival takes over power that he will be held accountable for grand scale corruption and theft and he may end up in jail and you have another opposition figure don't you who is a referring who is meant to be returning to the country on friday and that is could soon be so put all of this in context when you have to opposition figures now in the country on the ground prior to the upcoming election how much is all of this
6:15 pm
change in the political landscape in the dynamic. well again that's why it gets to be very interesting politically and people are really wondering what could be a will do certainly these two candidates bemba and could be will be major opposition presidential candidates they will you know present a major challenge to either could be low or whomever he chooses to succeed him the question remains whether both of them will be able to run or will be allowed to run by the government and then will be on their strategies whether they will both run and split the opposition vote or if they will band together and come up with some kind of arrangement in which they are able to credibly run against the ruling party ok we thank you for speaking to us from washington recently sat down with himself
6:16 pm
and discussed with him his ten years in captivity the upcoming elections as well as the future of the country it is the latest episode of talk to al-jazeera you can find a post on al-jazeera dot com. to south africa where big protests have been going on to highlight shockingly high rates of violence against women the total shutdown has been the country's number one hash tag for most of wednesday a social media producer under suppose here the talk us through all of this andrew thanks to rain while thousands of south africans are commemorating women's bundt with protests against gender based violence my body not your crime scene that's the slogan for these protests that are taking place across the country it's been painted on signs and bodies and chanted at rallies some of which you can see here and the protestors there they are demanding that the government take action to stop violence against women both in the home and on the streets and one of their twenty four demands made to president cyril ramaphosa is to block perpetrators from
6:17 pm
obtaining government jobs. we have three key main marches right we have legislature which is. fundamentally cape town with the judiciary which it implicate the supreme court of appeal and they think it is the same pretoria they doing it building and what all the key demands that the one of the most important thing that we need the plate that you could meet to. date and time we will all sit down as the clerk of the various stakeholders to say we need to come up with the practical and efficient plan you are in new advocating gender based violence and the reason as to why we chose those three branches of government is that we will be handing over the memorandum to tell them that your policy that baby to tell them that we need to sit down and come up with it to pull you with the various stakeholders in your education gender based by live in the country and today we've seen posts with the hash tag total shut down to encourage women to skip work join the protests and
6:18 pm
refrain from buying anything all day there's also been a campaign which you see here showing how violence against women isn't restricted to any one race age or sexual orientation in the city of johannesburg tweeted these photos officially supporting this cause i many women have posted their own videos online explaining why they are protesting. and the reason why have these chains on today is from the line that hands. up i'll be using the great guys in their own homes. because i'm the brother. and this is. the way the chains. because i know. how to speak. the cutting edge because they don't have the means to get out on the street. if your mom or your dad is in
6:19 pm
parliament you tell them let's go and learn you give them our demands as well if you have somebody in the workplace that you know can cause affect or kind of change you tell them don't waste time this money question the lowest level employee in you know do the most so get good enough. seats that he hasn't been in the key days. when as you heard there these women say that they're fighting now so that this kind of violence doesn't become normalized already it's estimated that one in five south african women experience sexual or physical violence at some point in their life time around a thousand women are killed on average each year mostly at the hands of their partners the group statistics south africa estimates there was a hundred and seventeen percent rise in the number of women killed just since twenty fifteen and sexual offenses they've more than doubled in that time as well
6:20 pm
seventy thousand women were victimized last year so let us know what you think this total shutdown campaign could have you can get in touch with us using the hash tag it's a newsgroup during. andrew thank you well meanwhile south africa has a ruling a.n.c. party is pushing ahead with plans to take over land and redistribute it without compensation it will have to change the country's constitution to allow such expropriations most land remains in white hands making it a big symbol of lingering inequalities twenty five years after the end of apartheid since one thousand nine hundred four the a.n.c. has followed a willing selling willing buyer model that's where the government purchases white owned farms for redistribution supply progress though has been slow investors are worried that the reforms will see white farmers stripped off their land risking the economy and food security but the president cyril ramaphosa insists this won't
6:21 pm
happen the intention of this proposed amendment is to promote redress advance economic development increase our get a culture of production and food security it will also transform the unjust special realities in eben areas to accelerate agrarian reform the sea has further directed government to gently initiate farma support programs in depressed areas before the fester a this year this should include supporting thomas with to texas fertilizers c. extension services finance and access to key infrastructure so that is what the president had to say earlier on let's now speak to a lawyer attend bacon group heights will be in johannesburg he is the author of the
6:22 pm
land is ours thanks very much for speaking to us on al-jazeera is taking land without compensation legal. not at the moment. is it could only be legal if either the constitution is amended alternatively if legislation is passed to make it possible to expropriate land without compensation so though the constitution allows a framework which could be construed to allow. the taking of land without compensation the fact is that it cannot be done unless a lot of general application is passed and the amendment as i understand what has been announced now is that there is an intention indeed to pass the appropriate law so what do you make then of the timing of this announcement is the a.n.c. going to be successful or are they going to be criticized by some for not waiting for these parliamentary consultations the come to an end yes that criticism is valid there is currently an ongoing parliamentary process where the views of the
6:23 pm
public at the interested one the possibility of amending the constitution to allow for expropriation without compensation and it's important for purposes of democracy and a democratic mandate that the decision is ultimately illegitimate and even if the decision is not supported by all it's important that as many people as possible have a chance to have a say in a decision of this magnitude so it's clear that there will be criticism and i think that criticism will be valid but there is another way of looking at it which is that what the a.n.c. is doing simply expressing its own view to the parliamentary process is not preempting or hijacking the parliamentary process but i do think that they would be criticized effectively for rendering the current process a bit of a mockery what about the issue of the economy of the country a lot of people saying that this perhaps could make a south africa follow zimbabwe's economic meltdown we know what happened there
6:24 pm
there was high for hyperinflation there were food shortages as well do these same risks lie ahead for your country. no i don't believe so i what i do think about is the land reform program and firstly the land reform program is absolutely adamant and necessary to address historic our challenges but also to address questions of ongoing poverty and ongoing inequality but also i think that the difference with south africa is that even the current amend the current land reform process the intention is to do it within the limits of the constitutional framework so there is no intention to go outside of the constitution so the center that would be driving the entire land reform program will be the rule of law so the likelihood of go in the zimbabwe route where land has taken her to her positively without compliance with the rule of law is rather slim in the south african context and then the third point to be made about this is that ultimately
6:25 pm
what has been amended is the possibility of compensation but the other process there are safeguards that are in the constitution are not being amended one of those most important safeguards is that only a court can allow a determination to be made in the ledge into an expropriation and only a court can approve instances of compensation or instances where compensation will not be paid so those safeguards will probably satisfy many that south africa has not abandoned the constitutional court ok we thank you very much for giving us your point of view from johannesburg. now we will shift gears to italy that's where the deputy prime minister matteo salvini is being accused of spring racist attacks often repairing to quote pay tribute to the fascist dictator when he was so many andrew well tell us more about that story and your yeah this is a big topic in italy right now dream with some speaking speaking of a racism emergency in the country and as during said commentators are pointing the
6:26 pm
finger of blame towards one man the deputy prime minister. and his agenda as you see here on his facebook cover photo of italians first now so he has cracked down on refugees and migrants since his populist coalition government between the league party and the five star movement came to power in june and since then he's pushed a zero tolerance approach on immigration and of course as you probably know close its hellion ports to migrant rescue boats now last week the leading catholic weekly famiglia christiane of ran this cover page called calling salvini the devil the text here on the cover reads go away salvini that's a play on a comment from jesus saying go away satan and there's critics who are using his policy who say that his hateful rhetoric rhetoric from the top of the government is behind a series of attacks targeting minorities in the country especially people of african arab or roma descent which are in many cases here believed to be racially motivated
6:27 pm
now so we decided to dismiss this sort of criticism and he tweeted out a quote from the late fascist dictator benito mussolini on sunday and that quote is many enemies much honor and that's this quote happened to be on mussolini's one hundred thirty fifth birthday that same day he also blamed migrants for a third of all crimes committed in the country so keep that all in mind making matters worse a few hours later after that sweet there was a national athlete named daisy who was hits and injured by an egg thrown from a car in the northern city of turin opposition politicians believe that this was yet another racially motivated attack. are you crazy ok. you know i believe that the chaos and confusion that we see in parliament is the same chaos and confusion we see in the people therefore if we say the politicians are representing the people they represent them perfectly they're insulting each other and the people do the same but unfortunately if the politicians you can have the power to influence
6:28 pm
people with social media and look television continue to criticize you blame a minority for every problem the people will start thinking that they are right and that this is true and that is the minorities fault so in this way hatred and bias will grow and will lead to psychotics. so we need continues to post updates on his facebook page of police targeting this roma community in castile ramana that's outside of the capital rome as well as pictures from the car oh operation which has its naval ships operating in libyan waters to facilitate interceptions by the libyan coast guard these are just a few of the videos that have been posted on his page over the past twenty four hours which some people say you know that's not very helpful but he's also addressed the accusations of racist rhetoric posting this image on his facebook page as well saying that he only divides people between those who are decent and those who are not for decent people he says there is a future in italy so let us know what you think about this rhetoric and if it's
6:29 pm
possibly linked to some of these incidents that we've seen over the past few weeks especially if you're in italy we want to hear from you you can tweet us your views using the hash tag page in his grave. thank you now for watching us on facebook live you'll find out how to women were brought together by racism in australia and it's coming up in just a moment on the news group a last minute u.s. court ruling puts blueprints for greedy printer guns on hold for now we'll look into the legal battle and ask are these new age weapons unstoppable. the way. hello there we've got quite a bit of what weather still with us around parts of the black sea and the caspian sea we have a look at the satellite picture we can see the cloud here is it gradually works its way eastwards and it has given us a fairly heavy rain will be plenty more of it as we head through the next few days as well so some of the weather here really does look quite heavy and it could give
6:30 pm
us a little bit of disruption here to further towards the south and for us as you might expect just incredibly hot now we're looking at forty four degrees in baghdad slightly cooler in beirut but still warm right about thirty one degrees here in doha it's pretty windy at the moment but the winds are likely to ease as we head through into thursday forty three degrees maximum temperature at the moment there's a bit of a cloud over the big empty quarter of saudi here and perhaps a little bit more cloud just for seeing with the coast of oman but most places generally looking quiet until you had down to the southwest and parts of our map where for some of us here particularly eritrea looks like we're going to see some rather violent thunderstorms down towards the southern parts of africa are all a largely quite quiet on our satellite picture at the moment just a little bit of cloud in the fall south but still with this just making things a little bit gray for some as we head through the day on thursday not really bringing us a great deal of wet weather there perhaps just the odd shower around in there as we head through into friday particularly in the afternoon.

the majority in parliament. to find out more about that story and the updated on the latest of on. their own guns in the u.s. are facing another legal hurdle after a judge blocked the release of blueprints software a company was earlier given the green light to publish the downloadable blueprints but several states objects and worry that undetectable firearms will end up in the wrong hands reports. this is the computer generated weapon that's causing the uproar a crude single shot plastic pistol the united states of america will be the biggest exporter of terror if we fail to stop these ghost gun specifications for the gun were developed by cody wilson a self-styled anarchist as long as you have the right to keep and bear arms you
6:34 pm
have the right to make them in june the trump administration abruptly gave up on the years long legal battle to prevent him from putting the gun plans on line wilson's diagrams allow a variety of firearms models to be made by anyone including convicted criminals mentally disturbed people or children this means that more people who are dangerous will have guns and they will hurt more people with them in three d. printer technology machines extrude minuscule layers of plastic or resin that gradually build up three dimensional objects using computer eyes patterns we asked professional three d. printer peterman adi to make one for us. consumer printers are available for as low as three hundred dollars so anybody that has three hundred dollars can essentially print one the designs have already appeared online and have been downloaded thousands of times three d. printed guns have no serial numbers so they're untraceable they don't require permits or background checks so anybody can have one and because they're plastic
6:35 pm
they can go through any metal detector law enforcement officials are opposed and president donald trump questioned the action of his own administration tweeting that the idea of three d. printed guns quote doesn't seem to make much sense but the guns may be less dangerous to the public then to the person wielding them in tests by the government firearms oversight agency three d. printed guns often exploded when fired they are not as strong or precisely machined as metal guns it could explode on you you could lose a finger you could use a hand. it could catch fire there is so many things that can go wrong which is why printing it is one thing using it is an entirely separate thing democratic lawmakers are calling on trump to overturn his administration's decision and are introducing legislation to ban the weapons but in a last minute decision a federal judge granted a temporary injunction blocking wilson from distributing his blueprints online the

ruling came after nine states and the district of columbia brought the matter to court the legal fight will continue robert oulds al jazeera los angeles well the u.s. state department has defended the government's decision to settle the case saying they would have. the reason that the state department got involved our only act would be in this is because of our role in controlling foreign access to u.s. defense technology in simpler words the state department wants to prevent the wrong people from acquiring weapons overseas that is the state department's equity and this this is obviously gone through a legal process the department of justice was advised the state department on this entire legal matter the department of justice suggested that the state department and the u.s. government settle this case and so that is what was done we were informed that we
6:37 pm
would have lost this case in court or would have likely lost this case on in court based on first amendment grounds joining us from new york is paul barrett he's the author of the book block the rise of america's gun thanks for speaking to us so you say you are skeptical about what the state department has to say about why it decided to settle the case why do you think then they decided to do so well i mean my reason for my skepticism is the very close ties between president trump and the national rifle association and i think it's very unusual for a federal agency. particularly state part of the justice department very large sophisticated sophisticated agencies to simply spend one hundred eighty degrees and reverse their position in a situation like this look cody wilson who is the man behind this we heard about him in the report by rob reynolds his website says this that all this the first is when the age of the downloadable gun formally begins is he writes
6:38 pm
i'm sorry could you repeat the question saying that august the first this is what he says on his website august the first is when the age of the downloadable run formally begins i'm asking you if he's right even though there have been hurdles thrown in his face the conversation is already out there of the blueprints are already out there. well that's right and i think apparently thousands of people have downloaded them and. i imagine some of those people will take the further step of acquiring a three d. printer and making one of these firearms so how do you see all of this then playing out should people be very worried. personally i'm not terribly worried i don't think there's going to be a big crime wave or terrorism wave fueled by three d. printed guns it's very easy to get on firearms are going to be around for anywhere
6:39 pm
in the documentation and that's surely is a worry right the criminals in large part acquire their guns without background checks in any event on the black market as as do terrorists they're not going through the for the formalities as it is i'm not saying that three d. printed guns are a good idea i think it's a recipe for trouble but on the other hand i don't think it's actually going to affect the larger society in any tangible way i also think it's important to stress as your setup piece did that these guns are going to be very very unreliable when they're actually used and will likely blow up on the people who are trying to use them ok paul barrett we'll leave it there thank you for speaking to us from new york so what we're seeing right here is the senate intelligence committee hearing on foreign influence on social media apologies will pull it up in just a second so what they're discussing is election meddling we're monitoring that to see if there's anything significant on we will bring you all the latest lines for

now barbara sarah is joining us with more of the world news hi barbara. hello there darian let's start in afghanistan where the army says it's taking over security control of the eastern city of jalalabad after a series of attacks there killed the dozens of people the government decided to withdraw responsibility from the police after yet another bombing on a refugee office on tuesday fifteen people were killed in the past three months one hundred sixty civilians have been killed in the province by iso or taliban attacks afghanistan's election body has announced the presidential election for april next year that's on top of a parliamentary poll in less than three months afghans have had to register for the chance to vote in the contests but the process has faced accusations of fraud and abuse reports now from kabul. hundreds of women recalled the names of the countryman compiling an electronic list of who decide afghanistan's next leader

nine million people have registered to vote a quarter of the population but here that means nine million manually intrigues and this is the. name of that person and. it is very day then business. next to. this hospitalized with seven hundred people working for two hundred dollars a month out of an old u.n. compound on the outskirts of kabul the registration forms are being flown all trucked here and a military a schools the nation's election chief wants afghans to feel they can trust the process despite logistical and security challenges. unfortunately they're in secure areas in afghanistan so we can't register people there those areas that are under the control of the government and that we have access to people should go there for registration the government assisted in putting our registration centers there there's been a lot of criticism from watchdogs observers about the registration process that
6:42 pm
there may be fake or duplicate registrations are you concerned about that. of course there is some complaints about the registration when it's not possible to do biometric registration and if it's a manual system like ours it's natural there may be some duplicate registrations. name is in charge of ten thousand observers on election day and says registrations need to be chips more thorough and voters assigned to specific polling stations there is a willingness among the people. about. the election that is neither. afghans died in their hundreds of for a chance to make their lives the worst was in april in kabul with fifty seven people were killed and more than one hundred wounded in a suicide bombing at a voter registration seem to afghanistan is working its way towards critical elections one keystroke at a time. from power outages to bombings patiently they push charged

have destroyed nearly one hundred twenty thousand hectares of land burning down almost a thousand houses last year was the worst season on record with nearly five hundred thirty thousand hectares were blackened gable is on those in the californian city reading it's one of the worst hit places what are you seeing behind you what's going on. well it's pure destruction here and many communities entire communities like we're at right now here in redding have been reduced entirely to this and it's ashes is all that you see here this is still very much active evacuation zone residents who once lived here of still not been allowed back into their homes because it's just still too dangerous quite frankly now the good news on this fire is that this was and still is the biggest of more than seventeen fires burning in the state of california but the good news is that firefighters now say that it is thirty percent contained but they

also say that the number of structures that have been destroyed like this is now over one thousand just on this very fire this is quickly becoming an international effort to try to contain these fires burning throughout the western united states we're still expecting that more than two hundred firefighters from australia and new zealand will be arriving here in california by the weekend to help these efforts just on this fire even though it's thirty percent contained there's still more than three thousand firefighters here they say as soon as they get full containment they're going to be out of here going to fight the rest of the fires going on in the state right now is a state that's been going through a four year drought and that's exacerbated the situation and we understand there's a new health risk emerging in areas where the fire went through how worrying is that. very worrying you might say you can maybe see behind me it's a little dark and overcast and that's because there's still

a thick layer of smoke from these fires hanging over the entire city of reading and really this whole part of northern california just to give you an example the air quality here has been registering at about two seventy three just to give you an idea of how high that is that is more than three times more three times worse air here than it is in beijing or a place such as mumbai or new delhi india places that are widely considered to have some of the worst air in the world so the air quality here is absolutely terrible from all the smoke that's been hanging in the air and that's really one of the major problems that they're having is people just having health problems breathing because of the terrible conditions with the smoke and gabriel just put it all in context for us for a second i know that you've been reporting day in and day out from reading in california but the one of the fires have really been quite widespread

the client i don't think they can. wear any thing into a global property what they can do is to ensure that the three countries i mentioned does maybe back so and so keep playing amongst themselves because they have traditionally rivalries which mean something to fans but in the long run i can't see say in their playing new zealand twenty years from now in test cricket if test cricket is still the pinnacle of the sport to me that's the tricky part i mean in terms of the players mindsets a lot of them will tell you yes but this is the most lucrative form of the game not by a long shot if you look at of football the champions league the e.p.l. in the league or play the players the most in terms of salaries that's not true of test cricket no tell that changes the mindset is going to fluctuate greatly in the coming years and final question here is that your money on forty england india
