and with women everyone said this couldn't happen fifty two percent women are so angry and i frankly think that i think they like what the republicans are doing but i think they would have liked to have seen it go a lot faster but give them their day in court let her have her day in court let somebody else have a day in court. but the ones that i find i mean i have men that don't like it but i have women that are incensed at what's going on i've always said women and smarter than men i've said that a lot and i mean it but women women are incensed at what's going on yes go ahead. go ahead. go ahead in the back. who you are where you from you know you look at looks like he's shocked but this is going to be not good it's going to be a good guy looks totally like stunned that i you have you ever been picked before
6:33 am
for a question yes but not from fresno you know as do i give me a thank you very much my name is magically from the media network i want to ask you you always talk about me you said where from where we don't we don't answer from could this our region or the ok rock i'm a kurd good good or great people thank you sir it's great to see president mr plant who are you a kurd mr president. they're great people to great fighters i like them a lot let's go i like this resolution because you always say you support your allies kurds right now after the defeat of isis are under a lot of pressure in syria and in iraq by many adverse it's true what will you do to elevate their position to support them in order after they helped the united states to defeat isis now we are helping them a lot and we've been very friendly with them as you know we've fought side by side and we have defeated isis essentially a very short while ago in the middle east and we did it with a lot of help from the kurds and they are they're great fighters you know some
6:34 am
people are great fighters and some people are and the kurds are great fighters and the great great people and we're going to be we're discussing that situation exactly right now what would you do support them so well i'm just telling you we're going to be discussing that situation we have already started discussing that situation but we have had tremendous support from the kurds in defeating isis and i'm not serious serry and you saw. this go. you don't need it mr president says inly from fox business if you reject a one of one meeting with a team prime minister justin trudeau the i did why because tariffs are too high and he doesn't seem to want to move and i told him forget about it and frankly we're thinking about just taxing cars coming in from canada that's the motherlode that's the big one we're very unhappy with the negotiations and the negotiating style of canada we don't like their representative very much they've taken advantage of canada by the way i have so many friends i have everybody and so many friends but
6:35 am
that has nothing to do with us i'm representing the united states mexico was totally i mean they were great by the way the new president has been great. the deal is done now it has to go through congress and you know a lot of things have to happen but we've done bob lighters are who's here someplace where. bob light has done a great job of negotiating as they have but the deal is done to this congress it but canada has treated us very badly they've treated our farmers in wisconsin and new york state that a lot of other states very badly dairy products three hundred percent three hundred percent how do you sell a dairy product at three hundred percent the answer is you don't what it is is a barrier it's basically they're saying we don't have any barriers by the way is three hundred percent so you don't send it in because you can't compete so canada has a long way to go i must be honest with you we're not getting along at all with the
6:36 am
negotiators we think they're negotiators have taken advantage of our country for a long time we had people that didn't know what they were doing and that's why we had over the last five or six years if you average it out we had eight hundred billion dollars a year in trade losses it's ridiculous not going to happen what about math that's done so the president nafta what does that mean for nafta will you be pulling out of nafta. i don't like nafta i never like it's been very bad for the united states been great for canada it's been great for mexico very bad for a small lot of thing i'm not going to use the name after i refuse to use it i've seen thousands of plants and factories i've seen millions of jobs lost to auto companies that move them in mexico has twenty five percent of our auto business now because of nafta under our deal we're going to happen anymore hate to tell you it's not going to keep companies and i we i told the mexico as i said we have to keep companies but they're getting a lot also they getting other things they're getting
6:37 am
a lot of good things mexico made a very good deal but with canada it's very tough what we're doing is if we made a deal with canada which is a you know good chance still but i'm not making anything near what they want to do but you're going to be fair notify congress and what you're probably going to do is call it the u.s. embassy like the united states marine corps which i love general kelly likes it even more was general kelly he likes that u.s.m.c. which the us mexico canada but it'll probably or possibly be just us. it will be united states and next yes or no canada will come along now if canada doesn't make a deal with us we're going to make a much better deal we're going to tax the cars that come in we will put billions and billions of dollars into our treasury and frankly we'll be very happy because it's actually more money than you can make under any circumstance with making a deal that. good job to do if you do
6:38 am
a very good job really. yes place mr curd. go ahead thank you very much for your time mr president to critically questions. what's real be to us a relations with the kurds oh i thought i was just i suppose isis. ok we're trying to get along very well we do get along great with the kurds we're trying to help them a lot don't forget that's their territory that we have to help them i want to help them go ahead what's next they fought with us before with us they died with us they died we lost tens of thousands of kurds died fighting isis they died for us and with us and for themselves they died for themselves but they great people and we have not forget we don't forget i don't forget what happened some day later but i can tell you that i don't forget these are great people ok yes i am pleased about you is a separate incident about you don one question what is your collegiate plan to stop
6:39 am
union influence in iraq in syria and specially in iraq i think you've seen that i must tell you is that i don't mind your question i think that has been something i did i don't think you i think there's been no greater change other than maybe china because china unfortunately the markets have dropped would you say thirty percent in the last four months right i think i watched you recently when you said that i said i think she's wrong i think it's actually thirty two but that's ok but a lot there's been no go other than maybe that but even that. because china is a very special place and iran is a very special place but i think there's been no country that's changed so much as iran. in the last. six months since they took off the horrible horrible iran nuclear deal as they called it one of the dumbest
6:40 am
deals ever meet. as an example why didn't they take care of yemen in the dia why didn't they take care of syria in the deal you know what kerry said the reason it was too complicated we're giving one hundred fifty billion dollars we paid one point eight billion in cash cash this whole room would be filled up with hundred dollar bills and you did probably five rooms like this we have one point eight billion in cash why did we take care of yemen why didn't we take care of syria and other and he said because it was too complicated where you just gave all you could give one hundred fifty billion dollars and now yemen's a mess but it's getting better and syria is a mess and i was responsible and i hope it stays that way when i put out on social media a few weeks ago about it lib province i said don't do it i'll tell you it happened where i was at a meeting with a lot of supporters and a woman stood up and she said there is
6:41 am
a province in syria with three million people right now the iranians the russians and the syrians are surrounding their province and they are going to kill my sister and they are going to kill millions of people in order to get rid of twenty five thousand or thirty five thousand terrorists or enemies of theirs but i think we can call them terrorists and i said this is not going to happen i did hear of it lib province and i came back to new york and i picked up the failing new york times i hate to admit it was the neocons but it was the fairly new york times and i opened it up not on the front page but there was a very big story said well that's the same story that the woman told me that i found hard to believe because why would how would anyone do that with three million people and it said that they were being surrounded and they were going in and starting literally the next day they were going to drop bombs all over the place and perhaps kill millions of people in order to get thirty five thousand terrorists
6:42 am
. and i put out on social media and elsewhere i gave my pump a zero john bolton everybody these orders don't let it happen i said don't let it happen. that doesn't mean they can't be selective they can't be you know go in and they've got to do what they've got to do with terrorists assume the terrorists but don't kill millions of people and it stopped you certain nobody's going to give me credit but that's ok that's ok because the people now i have had more syrians thank me for that this was about four weeks ago i put that out i said this surrounding the city of three million people they're going to start bombing the city don't let it happen and i meant it to i meant it and. millions of people have been saved and i gave today great
6:43 am
credit to iran i don't know if you heard that i gave great credit to iran to russia and to syria for not doing it now i hope it's going to be surgical meaning go in and do it's lengthy and everything else and they possibly have to do it. but i think millions of people would have been killed and that would have been a shame and hopefully and i have to tell you turkey has been a big help turkey has been great turkey has helped us very much with that whole situation. yes yes well we've been listening to the u.s. president donald trump holding a pretty extraordinary news conference let's bring the roslyn jordan straight in he's been watching this from washington d.c. . it's amazing this was the day when he was a key player obviously of the united nations he chaired because they have a rotating presidency the security council and yet that wasn't really the focus of
6:44 am
this news conference what did you make of it. well essentially as far as the u.s. president is concerned domestic political concerns will always drag a u.s. president back to earth as it were there's a truism that typically if a person is elected to a second term he will usually spend most of his energy on foreign policy so that he doesn't have to deal with the very real potentially damaging issues that crop up here in the united states and of course right now he even though donald trump is in his first term he's dealing with a very difficult situation that of trying to get brett kavanaugh an appellate george judge excuse me on to the u.s. supreme court third woman has accused kavanagh of engaging in sexually abusive practices when they were teenagers in the washington d.c. area back in the one nine hundred eighty s. what is significant about the president's comments is that even though he once
6:45 am
again attacked the accuser's lawyer michael of a nominee for a essentially acting as a water carrier for democratic politicians who are opposed to cavanaugh's nomination he then revealed that head of an important testimony on thursday by the first woman to accuse cavanagh of trying to sexually attack her that he was going to listen to this person's testimony to the testimony of christine blazin forward that he would keep an open mind and that if she made a persuasive enough case he could be persuaded to perhaps withdraw his support for brett kavanaugh nomination that's the first time we have heard any such wavering in the president's support for brett kavanaugh even though throughout the past hour of this press conference he has said many times that he believes that cavanagh is
6:46 am
eminently qualified that he has the right temperament that he has a strong judicial record that when he and his family. were notified that trump wanted to nominate him for the highest court in the land that the family was grateful so a bit of news coming out of this press conference rose jordan thanks for that we will of course come back to you after we take a quick break to discuss the news conference a little bit more closely we'll also have more from the u.n. because actually the law going on there too that is it for this news hour stay with us i'm going to have more news for you in just a few minutes to stay with us. yep

president says he would withdraw his supreme court nomination for brett kavanaugh if he thought the judge was guilty of sexual misconduct this after a third woman comes forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against covena and this friend mark judge. barbara starr you're watching out there live from london also coming up on the program they do not want me or to when i as he chairs a u.n. security council meeting trump accuses beijing of meddling in the midterm elections plus. exactly four years after forty three students disappeared the mexico's incoming president promises their parents he will investigate what happened and satellite images show new buildings that one hundred coal plants which china said it had suspended last year
6:50 am
. u.s. president donald trump says if he thought his nominee for the u.s. supreme court was guilty of sexual misconduct he would withdraw the nomination three women have now accused brett kavanaugh of sexual assault trump says he would consider changing his mind if the evidence is compelling i can always be convinced if i have to hear it sounds like what you're saying is there is a situation there is a scenario under which you would withdraw a brett kavanaugh as nomination is that correct i thought he was about as i thought he was guilty of something like this you and you will wait until tomorrow to make up your i want to watch i want to see i hope i can watch a meeting with a lot of countries tomorrow but i will certainly in some form be able to watch and a lot so rely on some very fair and talented republican senators. well this follows new sexual misconduct allegations made against cabinet by
6:51 am
a third woman julie sweetening who says she was raped at a house party in the one nine hundred eighty s. and cavanagh and a friend mark judge were there to get more now from rosalind jordan live in washington d.c. you know we've heard a lot from the u.s. president in the past hour and at times he seemed to be running out of patience because really is at a very busy day at the u.n. but truly most questions just focused on this issue. well that's because domestic politics are much more the focus of the us media than foreign policy and certainly when you have a supreme court nominee whose character has been questioned for a week and a half that's going to be the thing they're going to raise questions about and what you saw happening during that press conference where reporters almost to a person sticking to the same topic and not letting the president try to wriggle out of any any answers and only after the fourth person stood up and started asking
6:52 am
questions that's when we heard this news that the president is for the first time willing to consider pulling his support for brett kavanaugh withdrawing the nomination of kavanagh to join the u.s. supreme court which if it were to happen would be a very significant political loss for the u.s. president and of course this comes in the context of the fact that the president himself has been accused of sexual improprieties before he became president and in fact has been targeted in several lawsuits because of those allegations and so what you have been seeing in the past hour has been for the most part a defense of brett kavanaugh his character of his record of his family but also this very plainspoken revelation that he wants to see what christine blogs the ford the first woman to accuse kavanaugh of sexual impropriety he wants to see what laws
6:53 am
he ford has to say on thursday before the senate judiciary committee and then he said that if in a strong case can be made he would be willing to change his mind and to change course on the cabin on nomination that is certainly the issue that is going to be dominating the conversation in washington and in the national newspapers not other key issues such as the ongoing efforts to get north korea to give up its nuclear weapons program or the ongoing trade war not just with china but also with mexico and with canada. yeah and of course as we can see on the screen there roles the news conference is continuing it mean you mentioned he said there was a chance you know he said he was going to listen to the testimony and then make up his mind but assuming that he's not going to withdraw the nomination how likely is it that kavanah nomination will actually go through and he'll become a supreme court judge. it's really anyone's guess at this point barbara i mean you
6:54 am
have you know a third person who is willing to sign an affidavit and to send it to the senate judiciary committee which is now investigating these charges at least one news organization is reporting that the investigators were trying to interview judge kavanagh on wednesday about these latest allegations which involve gang rape among other things and you have also you know a growing a number of people telling pollsters that they are not in support of cavanagh joining the highest court it's also becoming a very contentious a political law element as it were with the country is a little more than five weeks away from important congressional elections and the fallout from this nomination could change the way that people end up voting in early november so there are a lot of issues that are at stake but clearly perhaps one of the most important things at risk at least for donald trump is his prestige is his reputation he made
6:55 am
a promise that he would nominate very conservative judges to become supreme court justices this would be his second such justice if brett kavanaugh is confirmed but really as of right now it's really anyone's guess what happens assuming that we do get to thursday's hearing where we hear from christine glossy forward who will read tell her story and then we hear from brett kavanaugh who'll give his version he's already denied the allegations but we will see this all happening before the television cameras before the senators of the judiciary committee. jordan with the latest there from washington d.c. things moving very quickly for the moment thank you. well earlier u.s. president donald trump chaired his first meeting at the u.n. security council that's because the u.s.

currently holds the rotating presidency he is that to attack iran calling it the world's leading sponsor of terror but he also had harsh words for china surprising many by accusing beijing of meddling in the upcoming u.s. mid-term elections a diplomatic editor james bays is more now from the u.n. headquarters in new york president trump presiding over a meeting of the u.n. security council the eight thousand three hundred and sixty second meeting of the security council is called to order his administration chose the subject of the discussion nuclear chemical and biological weapons but veered well away from that with this stunning claim regrettably we found that china has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming twenty eight teen election coming up in november. against my administration they do not want me

or us to win because i am the first president ever to challenge china on trade china strongly denied that and on the actual subject of the meeting it sided with three of the other security council permanent members against the u.s. in support of the twenty fifty nuclear deal that president trump pulled out overly this year china russia france and the u.k. pledged to keep the deal with iran alive for many years the skin and nature of iran's nuclear program are a serious international concerns the j.c. was an important step forward in addressing these it remains the best means of preventing iran developing a nuclear weapon and we are committed to preserving the j.c. as long as iran continues to abide by its obligations in full trumpet again attacked the deal which is in shrine to the u.n. security council resolution as horrible and one sided while the meeting was still
6:58 am
underway i managed to get reaction to that from iran's foreign minister mohammed job and zarif although he couldn't be seen by our camera it is such an interesting situation for somebody to go to the security council and boast about why elating security council outside the council meeting there were forced moving developments on north korea the u.s. secretary of state pompei o met with the north korean foreign minister re yong ho of to trump said he'd meet kim jong un again at his second summit in the very near future james pays out of the united nations but shipper tensing joins us live now from u.n. headquarters in new york a ship you got to feel a little for that some of the world leaders addressing the u.n. right now for many of them it's their one year only shot at the global stage and they've slightly been overshadowed certainly in the past hour or so by donald trump and all the controversy over the kavanah nomination but then focusing back now on
6:59 am
to the u.n. what do you think were the main highlights to come out of today. in the name whenever he was asked about the u.n. general assembly restated his previous positions but they were they were little bits of little bit of color and detail on some topics for example that allegation of china meddling in the forthcoming elections in the us he says the evidence will come out i can't tell you now so that's one thing on the issue of north korea he talked about the two letters he's received from kim jong un he called kim magnificent he said he'd shown one of the letters to president of japan who would agree that one of the letters was historic he also was asked if it was a time frame are we talking about and he said look i've told compare don't get into the time game don't think about timeframes so i got a bit more of that color a bit more about sort of behind the scenes that actually said that behind the scenes there are all sorts of things are happening with north korea that you just don't know about it but it's you know it's all going terribly well with canada it was interesting because he he confirmed that he actually had rejected
7:00 am
a one on one bilateral meeting with the canadian prime minister because he just hates the way that the trade talks go and he says he's all very keen now on taxing canadian car imports now but he hates that he doesn't like the trade on voice at all and he's being treated very badly and then towards the end talking about syria after a kurdish reporter i think asked about that you seem to be taking credit for the. for the for the for there not being a bombardment of lip he suggested that one of his tweets which warned countries not to go after. meant that the bombardment didn't happen either iran syria and russia and specifically turkey turkey which i'm sure the kurdish reporter were probably was in the best audience without you but these nations were not going ahead with the bombing of italy and that if she had been this way also came up in the news conference or actually do you hear president nicolas maduro i think in the next
7:01 am
half hour or so just remind us what was said about that as well. well i was interested i mean just in passing really he was asked specifically you know what you think of venezuela and cuba you know.
