and you know governor scott. you noticed him he leaned forward used the wireless emergency alert capabilities that we have and sent out text you know text messaging last night went forward and said hey get out of there and so we were trying to get people to really take this storm seriously a lot of people did heed the warning but then there are those who chose to stay behind and unfortunately first responders may not be able to go in and rescue those who want to want to this point. the other governors depending on what happens here but they are all in there contacted or are in the process and a long talk with rick scott governor scott of florida very well coordinated with all of the states you know one of the things that must be said is it's not so easy for some of these people believe some of the areas is very poor. not easy for a person without the necessary money to leave so what we've done is we've sent
10:01 pm
buses we've set a lot of different we're doing a lot of different things to try and remove people from the area but a lot of people are very poor and certain of those areas and it's very tough for them to leave that's one of the problems you're finding i guess and some cases you know you know what what we actually do on blue sky days is ask people who may not have the means or the mechanisms to get out of town to register with their local emergency management agencies in florida has been pretty robust in doing that so that we have some idea of how to preplan for that and then you know we do what we can to be able to support the movement of people when it comes to georgia you know we're not evacuating for storm surge in georgia this is going to be highway and so so we're asking people to get within a facility that can withstand the winds and try to shelter in place or seek out public shelters that may be open in southwest georgia but look at the size how long it will take a look at that and. red area basically you see here we're going to hit pretty
10:02 pm
heavily and that's that's a lot of shore a lot of laser before it's worth the storm surge all the way down to tampa bay very little line in floods very easily but to give you an idea of. its path it is quite large it's almost the entire size of the gulf where you look at it topically it's almost the entire size of the gulf and they haven't seen that. maybe they haven't seen that at all no but you see that from the diameters is pretty wide which unfortunately is not good news as it makes landfall so some people may say it's similar to an e.f. three tornado making landfall in areas that are close to the and so it's. not in this area did not really heavily impact the florida panhandle most of the hit. was in the southwest portion of florida and then moved up through in in
10:03 pm
created some issues in the jacksonville area north northeastern portion but this area has been a long time since it's been hit so the vegetation hasn't been stressed and and we're going to see you know a lot of a lot of damage and devastation unfortunately and we have to set the citizens expectations that the power is going to be out for a while and what famous role in that is the secretary was saying what our partnership with the private sector is that you know we work with the florida power and lights the gulf hours the southern companies the georgia powers to be able to help them you know facilitate their mutual aid to come in and they've got power through is coming in from multiple states across the country that are already pretty staged and when we're hit we work with them to do what's called first push debris to get the roadways open in and so that we can get them down the roadways to start fixing the power but that's going to take some time. or we don't know at all were. he's going to pennsylvania it looks like there are
10:04 pm
thousands of people already lined up and probably will do that tonight and we're going to go down here soon as we can and we don't want to interfere with anybody that we want to go with soon as possible. you have you know right nearby we have thousands of people going tonight and they've already many there already. whatever we are you going to be there what time are we planning on the. suspect said. well i don't know what to do because you have so many people already there and it's sort of unfair to them so it's a mix of i'll be totally focused on this but we're going to make a determination over the lip next to the well but you know people that. know because they're great people including these two but i have great people that it won't it wouldn't make any difference in that sense but i would like to be seeing what's going on we want to get down there some of this process or at the same time
10:05 pm
i don't want to go down where interfering with the people first responders the fema people i want them to focus on the storm not me so we'll probably look to sunday for monday to go down and meet with the governors beat with everybody and do what we have to do like we did in north carolina south carolina with that worked out really well now they're going to get hit also i mean north carolina and south carolina going to get a lot of water nothing like they had two weeks ago but they're going to get a lot of water also and that water is still draining out so this is a pretty big. problem i really worry a little bit about south carolina north carolina from the standpoint they're already saturated and they're going to get a reasonable hit right right yet they will so you're going to see as much as eight you know possibly eight inches in isolated areas through south carolina north carolina as a set it's all about the the rivers being able to process the water from florence and some of them haven't had the time to do that so this doesn't help. and it. sits

on your review released now we. will have to take a look at exactly. when you say release the journalist who you took an even visit. to me that i'd have to look into i'm not familiar with really have to look yes are you did you know i would be certainly concerned there feck we have a fall into his wife his wife wrote us a letter. and addressed it to my wife and myself and we're in contact with her now and we want to bring it to the white house it's a very sad situation it's a very bad situation and we want to get to the bottom of it. i think i don't want to make i don't want to say that i hope he's not i hope people. will have to find out who did it but. people saw him go in but they didn't see him come out as they understand it and we're going to take a very serious look at it it's
10:07 pm
a terrible thing. i'd rather not say but the answer is yes yes. i would say fairly quickly i would say fairly quick there in touch. you make to speak to the first lady's folks because they are in touch and shall be most likely coming to the white house we're working on it together it's a it's a terrible. well lindsay can speak for himself but. this is a bad situation we can that let this happen to reporters to anybody we can't let this happen and we're going to get to the bottom of the river off but you may or you may want to speak to the first lady's office about it lockers and rather not say but in a hurry high level the highest level. let's say let me say this it's the highest
10:08 pm
level. yet you know more than and more than once and. never i do anyway and i've always found him to be a fine man we've had a very good relationship i'm not happy about this we have to see what what happens if we have to see what happens nobody knows what happened yet they don't know over there but it's a very serious situation and it's something we're taking very seriously ok. we. will take care that we will take care of them. well they won't do it without her approval. they do nothing without our approval. yes they do nothing without our approval we're going from the east we're.
10:09 pm
talking about that later luther king out and by the way when we get alice johnson such is a great person or such a great case. and like to find a lot of people like alice johnson and there are a lot of people that are in a situation like that. and we are actively looking for those situations she's she's a terrific woman i've been watching her a lot and what a great spokesman she is for for that situation and that's all that's covering a lot of people there are a lot of people like that. unfortunately be locked up for many many years and is the reason for that was president trump speaking a few minutes ago in the oval office talking a lot of about a lot of issues including hurrican michael but of course focusing now on the disappearance of jamal khashoggi he said he had spoken to officials in saudi arabia the highest level about the disappearance of the saudi journalist and then he'd
10:10 pm
asked the journalist fiance to the white house she of course has been very vocal about finding out what happened to her fiance let's go live now to white house correspondent kimberly halkett for reaction from washington d.c. can believe you were listening in as we all were what did you make of what the president was saying. it appears that the president has at least on the face of it use some of his personal leverage given that he has close ties with the kingdom of saudi arabia and that he has utilized that to make a call but notice he was very he offered no details about who he spoke with specifically so it's unclear if he when he says he made that call if it was actually through diplomatic channels we haven't had a readout of the call so we're left wondering if it was actually somebody from the state department on his behalf or if the president himself picked up the telephone
10:11 pm
that is a little bit vague what we can tell from this is well is that given the close ties between the united states and saudi arabia whether it's arms whether it's oil they are extensive and the president seems to be at least using some of that leverage to exert influence to try and get to the bottom of what happened repeatedly he said in that exchange there that he was not happy about this that he would have to find out that the united states is taking this very seriously and that we will get to the bottom of it even expressing confidence that he will get to the bottom of it in other words finding out who is responsible for the disappearance of the missing journalist and perhaps as many members of congress have suggested calibrate the response accordingly i think it's also important to note in all of this that the president has responded to the letter of the fiance in fact to an open letter and perhaps also one that was sent directly to the first lady's office getting in touch
10:12 pm
with me a trump and now that the two are corresponding in organizing a visit to the white house no details on when that might take place but it seems clear that the goal of the white house is to use the leverage that it can to try and at least shed some light on what's happened and i think the final point in all of this. the president has often been accused of clamping down on. press freedom but in this case he has underscored that he believes when it comes to journalists vocalizing we know the missing journalist in this case had some concerns about liberties and freedom that this may be the crux of what happened and he says we cannot let this happen to reporters to anybody it seems the president has a personal investment in this can really help with the latest from the white house kimberly thank you and that's it from me in london but come out something larry and it's going to be picking up the story this of course still our top story on al-jazeera with all the latest developments i'll see you in one thousand nine

10:17 pm
a moment first this from stephanie to turkey sources say these men arrived at istanbul airport with a mission to either abductor or kill. they flew into is stumbled on the same day the saudi journalist was due to return to the consulate to finalize some paperwork they're suspected to have been inside the consulate when he entered the building around a quarter past one local time on the afternoon of the second of october a turkish newspaper has published the pictures and the names of the fifteen saudi nationals that the turks say were part of the so-called saudi hit squad the new york times goes into further detail quoting an anonymous senior turkish official saying ankara believes he was killed inside the consulate at the orders of the highest level of the saudi royal court. then gruesome detail the shot he was killed within two hours of this moment and that his body was dismembered by the saudi team with a bone saw in what seems to be
10:18 pm
a deluge of leaks the washington post then divulging that before his disappearance u.s. intelligence intercepted communications of saudi officials discussing possibly detaining him out. it is unclear whether he was ever warned i'm very surprised that one would would confirm this by letting the information know now the fact what has been intercepted is also notable because if true and there are now seem to be in creasing disparate bits of information that corroborates or substantiate the other pieces of commission it would be shocking acts and teske lee glaring one which there were were telling us operation would be really in cock up and to someone into your own consulate and then murder the person and. while you know that your entrances and exits are all being videoed is astounding how this new information seems to be destroyed in the attempt by the turks or it's
