to have continued for a time in and around the besieged port city of her they'd as the hours passed the situation appeared to be. calmer but it remains fragile some worry that could block much needed aid from getting this is one of the problem of the. agreement because it has actually linked the flow of humanitarian aid with the security situation and. to be honest they should have actually or they'd up all this would allow food and medicine first come into into even though oh the in control because i. have said before that if i but isn't dead an aid coming to yemen is coming today that. yemen is suffering what the u.n. calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis aide workers say the situation around her remains desperate. imitation to get access to care.

the cease fire and it's not clear at this stage whether it was artillery shelling or any anything else and the state also residents telling reuters that they don't know who was responsible for the blasts but four large blasts heard in yemen's main port city on tuesday evening well as part of the agreement international monitors to be deployed to yemen for the ceasefire to james bay is who's at the united nations james what's the latest on the deployment. well in the last hour i've seen the secretary general of the united nations antonio good terrorists in public he's not talking about the situation in yemen but i'm told in private by his spokes person that he's breathing down the necks of everyone here at u.n. headquarters to try and get those monitors there as quickly as possible particularly given those worrying reports that you just said of explosions being heard in the data the man who is leading the efforts to set up the monitoring team

a dutch general working for the u.n. called general patrick camera will we believe on wednesday chair a video conference from here in new york with both sides a representative of the yemeni government and a representative of the who thieves and i think you will certainly be trying to find out why there might have been some violations of the sea spot is if that's what has occurred we understand that general come up with a small team will then make his way to yemen for an assessment on the ground of the situation he'll look at the security situation on the ground and then decide how many monitors should be deployed by the united nations we understand the monitors will be chosen from volunteers put forward by the member states of the united nations they will be unarmed and they will not be wearing military uniforms but we believe they are people who will have a have had a military background and james says more about the forthcoming u.n. resolution on yemen. well that's something that's being put forward right
12:06 am
now by the united kingdom they've come up with a draft of the resolution part of that is actually to endorse that monitoring mission and the redeployment of forces that are supposed to take place between the two sides on the ground they also want want to want to push this forward and try and get some momentum going forward to the next phase of talks which won't be in sweden next time around we don't know the venue but it will be a different country and then of course the even harder job of trying to come up with a political power sharing deal for yemen is is what is on the agenda so this resolution very important the u.k. saying they hope to put a draft resolution to a vote by the end of this week it's a very busy diplomatic week in new york diplomats on a number of files trying to get things finished before many ambassadors go away for the holidays but i can give you one slightly worrying bit of news as far as the

u.k. is concerned and that is the latest word in the last hour from the kuwaiti ambassador they are the arab representative on the security council and they often come under quite a lot of pressure from the coalition from the u.s. and saudi arabia when anything is put to the security council on yemen the creator embassador telling me he's looked at this draft from the u.k. and there are a number of areas where he has serious concerns james bays or that is that nguyen thank you very much. a yemeni woman who had been prevented from traveling to the u.s. to see her dying son because of donald trump's travel ban has been given a waiver shaima soorley is technically banned from entering the u.s. due to travel restrictions on mostly muslim countries imposed by chump's administration her husband appealed to the state department to sign a waiver so that she could see her son who is on life support machine in california the council of american islamic relations now says relay will be able to land in

america and booking a flight to san francisco. a u.s. federal judge has delayed sentencing for president trump's former national security adviser michael flynn the case as part of an investigation of possible collusion between trump's campaign and russia in the run up to the twenty sixteen election when those lawyers asked the judge for a continuance that would allow him to complete his cooperation in the russia probe being led by special counsel robert mueller. vertical hayne is in washington but even if you will details behind the that delay in sentencing. it was really a remarkable turn of events keep in mind that michael flynn the president's former national security advisor is the first one to be sentenced was supposed to be sentenced as part of this special counsel's investigation into collusion between the trump campaign and russia so the prosecutor say listen he has been really helpful he sat down with us nineteen times for hour after hour he's given us all this information because of that we recommend that he gets either no prison time or
12:09 am
at most six months in prison well under the rules of the legal rules the judge is not bound by that at all and this judge came out and he tore into michael flynn he said that he couldn't hide his disgust his disdain that he had sold out the country asked prosecutors why flynn wasn't being charged with treason so it was looking very clear like michael flynn was going to prison and for more than six months so then the judge took a step back and said or do you want to continue cooperating with the special counsel and other prosecutions in hopes that basically flynn can give up even more information that might actually sway the judge although he said i'm not holding out hope that that's going to happen now flynn has been a very strange thing from the beginning let's keep in mind president donald trump said to the then f.b.i. director james comey i hope you can go look at go blue passes don't give him a give him a break fire james komi when he wouldn't do that then that led to the special counsel being appointed but still at the white house they're still continuing to
12:10 am
defend their former national security adviser even though he admits he knowingly lied to the f.b.i. the delay is something between general flan and the courts and that's something for them to determine what that timeline looks like in the meantime we wish general flynn well and we'll continue to focus on doing what we do here every single day. and a setback for the media. you know it's been really striking the conservative media mostly fox news in this country has been trying to find a way to basically brush this under the rug they keep coming back to this argument initially made by flynn's lawyers and then taken back in court that he didn't know it was a crime to lie to the f.b.i. even though he spent decades in the intelligence service and that he was trapped in the basically the f.b.i. set him up he came out in court today the judge walked him through every angle of that conspiracy theory and flynn basically said nope not true wasn't set up knew it
12:11 am
was a crime to lie to the f.b.i. i did it anyway didn't talk about motive so that's really blown up this whole idea that flynn was set up but at the white house they continued though even though that all happened in court it was covered all over the place they continued to say the f.b.i. didn't follow procedure still trying to blame the investigators after the president's national security adviser a former three star general admitted he knew it was wrong he did it anyway he committed a crime in the white house by lying to investigators. thank you very much. oh yes president donald trump charity the trump foundation has agreed to shut down as part of a legal battle with the state of new york the foundation is alleged to have operated as an extension of the president's businesses and political campaign if the state wins champ will have to pay thousands in penalties and will be barred from running on the charities the foundation's lawyers say they had been planning to close the foundation for months and that any legal violations were minor.
12:12 am
gabriel is known to has more from new york. new york attorney general barbara underwood gave us gave ing rebuke of the way the trump foundation work she said there was a shocking pattern of illegality involving the trump foundation including unlawful coordination with the trump presidential campaign and in a statement she said that the trump foundation function to little more than a personal checkbook for donald trump to serve for his business and political interests a century the trump foundation was used by trump to pay for legal bills related to his business even pay for a piece of artwork for one of his golf clubs and also make an illegal political donation now the trump foundation overall is a very small part of the trump organization portfolio was founded in one thousand nine hundred eight and at its peak it had about three million dollars it was run by
12:13 am
donald trump and three of his children evoke a don jr and eric there's about two million dollars remaining in the foundation that will now be distributed to. needy organizations but it will be a court that will oversee that distribution of the final remaining money now trump it should be noted has said that the foundation has done nothing wrong and that this lawsuit from the new york attorney general was nothing more than politically motivated but attorney general barbara underwood has said that this is an important victory for the rule of law making it clear there is one set of rules for everybody while the trump foundation will be shut down the lawsuit in two ily illegal activities related to it will continue. to look at the compensation i'm joined from washington d.c. by eric hammers a political analyst and author of the g.o.p. civil war thanks very much for being with us so that on the one hand the strong foundation story and then they michael flynn sentencing case how much do these
12:14 am
things damage trump in the end to think. well when you look at them in their totality we're talking about seventeen investigations that stretch from the white house to the president's personal business to his children and because of the harsh rebukes that we have seen today from the new york attorney general and then from a federal court judge i think this is death by a thousand cuts politically for this president and these continued attacks against the president will eventually be will become very debilitating especially when the president begins to his reelection efforts in two thousand and twenty and it was interesting that in the court flynn made it clear that he knew that the f.b.i. was a crime was that him trying to distance himself from some suggestion that it could be sometime misconduct by the f.b.i. . well i think what you saw today was the the very
12:15 am
unpredictable being predictable in a sense and what we saw was michael flynn's attorneys trying to have it both ways saying that yes they accept their culpability but at the same time blaming the f.b.i. actually keeping with the story that the president has said that this is a witch hunt that this is political this is partisan and so we saw today the judge rebuke michael flynn a very harshly and i think the reason why you saw this delay is because i think michael flynn's attorneys recognized that the judge was going to step outside the bounds of the sentencing guidelines that were offered both by flynn's attorneys as well as the prosecutors and that flynt very well could have gone to jail today so in the end you know mention the kind of a series of various kind of legal limbo events legal kind of things that he's involved in or at least link to which one of these is is going to be the most
12:16 am
potentially damaging. well if we look at what took place today with the trump foundation i think that probably has the least amount of legal and political ramifications for the president but what we saw today with michael flynn we just don't know how much that he provided to the mall or pro but the fact that the sensing recommendation from them all the pro was zero was no jail time suggest that there is an enormous amount that he provided to the. camp and so i think as that continues to come out we're going to see i think the true damage again we're only look at we're only seeing so far the tip of the iceberg and we know that michael flynn sorry bob miller's tentacles run both wide and deep and the president should be very concerned both legally and politically and we can thank you very much indeed.

a norwegian in the. these conflicts never ended with a wonderful peace order treaty and a conference and everybody embraces each other it is actually a process that may go on and on until all this and hopefully in the best way for the very people there are two constants in this conflict over the last four years one there's never been a constant moment of anything there being constant shifts of what they're being the military events and the facts on the ground and a political decision just look where we were four years ago and where we are today second constant there have always been the syrian people suffering the u.s. special envoy for syria jim jeffrey has confirmed the deployment of kurdish fighters from northern iraq into northern syria the unexpected deployment came after turkey

deliberate on whether he will accept shuttle michel's resignation which kind of extends the political limbo that we've been in. it has its government lacks parliamentarian majority and now it also offered resignation but that resignation is sort of pending which means that constitutionally it's a bit of a gray area what will see is the king will consult with political leaders in the coming day probably coming days and parliament will reconvene latest we've heard is that it might be divied thursday which sort of extends the awkward position that the government is in right now but it doesn't really solve the political crisis so so what would you say that it was entirely the the un migration pact that caused the political crisis or was that the main issue. so it was it was the main issue and it was the issue at the heart of the government collapse that happened actually

the already ten days ago when one of the coalition partners accepted the coalition so this was the new flemish alliance a right wing flemish party that decided to leave government over michelle's decision to sign the un global compact for migration. and the new family started yet into sort of what is the winding european significance of this kind of crisis in belgium in particular in relation to the migration is it is this a sign that actually this is one of the biggest problems for european countries or do you think this is just a blip in one of the european countries in dealing with this packed it is it business shoot of a sort of taken over both in politics right now i think in terms of the european significance what's interesting is the belgians government is the first government to actually collapse over to international agreement and this is something that few people have seen come up so we've seen countries like italy hungary poland and others either holding back on the international agreements or refusing to sign that
12:35 am
no government has collapsed so far and so the fact that this is the belgian government which is generally does a centrist moderate government and country that is that is attached to multilateralism to international agreements. the fact that it is this moderate government that actually collapses over such a deal i think is significant and the kind of shows the sensitivities politically that that's such an issue of migration has in belgium they also in europe aren't serious thank you very much indeed to feel folks are thinking. italy has reached a deal with the european commission over its controversial twenty nine thousand budget the european commission rejected the budget when it was first presented in october over concerns that it would add a considerable amount to italy's public debt last week rome submitted a revised plan which included a smaller deficit and also delayed the introduction of

a member in your arrived at manchester united in twenty six dane fans were hoping he would prove he was still the special one but he's going to old trafford was not special instead it will be remembered as a disappointment of a his sullen defensive and argumentative approach you know what these men three but also mean sri premierships and i won more premierships alone then managed to get. see for me it's not for them to receive that respect and respect or respect so i think it was clear there was a problem between the reality star players mainly paul pogba a hero for france in their world cup win but failing to produce his best form for united and outspoken against his boss on social media and united suffered their worst start with things in the needy thirty years but it was with reluctance that the clubs were close of american owners the glazers decided to sack another manager

cup winner who seem to take a glint in the departure of marino when he's received criticism for that but you do suspect there is every chance that paul will stop performing under a new manager it was just that marino was weirdly discredited by the end of his right you could make a case and i did that when marino first joined manchester united they had hired him as the man with a reputation over many years of success but not the man who actually got to the end of his chelsea right and had problems off the pitch and had a solemn demeanor actually i think they appointed him more in hope than the expectation that he could deliver the major trophies that manchester united need and the way united has been one has a lot of critics of this is like it's a business by the glazers in america and by edward with the man who runs the club from england and actually they need to get back so the traditions of the card playing good football and winning trophies. there was high drama at the fever club
