hundred twenty nine. and escaping venezuela the search for food in colombia increasing number of the digits people are struggling to find the next meal. riot police in sudan have used live ammunition and tear gas to break up an anti-government rally i think. the protesters were marching towards the presidential palace to demand on one of the shia steps down president president my what he calls real reforms to improve living standards. from all this let's cross over now to have a mortgage is live for us in the hall to say you've been out in the demonstrations how are they shaping up.
5:02 pm
i would seem to have some problems there connecting with him of how this will come back to a little later well he is an award winning director and member of nonviolent resistance movement taking part in sudan's protest he says it's common for riot police in sudan to use lethal force against unarmed protesters the protest started as an economic condition but then it went escalated to now the only demand is for this government to leave and to have a transitional government and this is a build up of things that have been happening sudan for a long time i mean we do have and military is limited edition they've been in power for thirty years they committed genocide as they create all this so people are angry and what happened was now we have a reason where people just lost their fear and are in the streets so in two thousand and thirteen there's been protests that happened in september and two hundred people were killed and that's how those parts and and now it's the same people they're used to using force against civilians so they're out in the street
5:03 pm
and already thirty seven people have been reported dead by amnesty international there's been hundreds of people arrested people who are being stopped in the airport trying to get in asked like why are you even getting in there sudanese so definitely this is a national security add police force that is used to using force against its own people and i think we can now connect with him or morgan our correspondent she's live for us in the hard to do so hipaa i understand you've been out with the protests tell us how they were shaping up. well so i mean the number of protesters under streets was quite significant and it's safe to say that president bashir is facing this for the first time during his twenty one year rule he has faced protesters before in the past and in fact the latest before this round was in january early this year when people were protesting also for the high prices because of high prices of bread and fuel now this time around the process started last week and went on on wednesday but it quickly escalated from protests about the

economy to protesters demanding that the president leave and have a new government formed up this is what we've heard earlier out on the streets and we've heard protesters saying things like down with the government who want a new regime and because they were accusing the government of being robbers basically but president bashir seems to be an denial about what these protesters wanted he he basically identifies them or he classifies them as as vandalizes for lack of better words he's saying that they've been mobilized by external forces by external agents including israel and he came out today and spoke and he said that he's not going to bow down to their demands he will try to introduce reforms he is going to try to shape up the economy is going to try to make it better for the people but this is something the people said that they've heard over and over again over the past twenty nine years and they said that they want something new so they came out in the streets again today for the seventh day and again the police had to use tear gas and live ammunition to stop the protesters from progressing to the
5:05 pm
presidential palace over does it look like these protests are picking up momentum and becoming more coordinated. well it seems like it's very sporadic it seems it's more the people behind those protests as opposed to opposition parties and political groups when these protests were plans today sports specifically sample it is some opposition groups gave their backing and support to these and to the protests today but today one of the main opposition parties to the party came out and said that they don't support this protest they are going to try to negotiate with the government to find ways out of this crisis now the people have already given up on political parties they've said that they don't want any political party backing them what they want they want to world to see that this is their own initiative that they are fed up with this government and it's nothing political behind it says that they want this government to go as i said earlier the police had to use tear gas and live ammunition to disperse them and basically people are quite concerned that the death toll which amethyst is stands at thirty seven right now is likely to rock like rise if the police continue using live ammunition tear gas or so much morgan. turkey's foreign minister says the u.s.

is agreed to take back weapons give it to kurdish rebels in northern syria turkish and u.s. troops began joint patrols last month in the area around the city of mon bridge it's all part of an agreement known as the man big road map for the withdrawal of the kurdish wife e.g. rebel groups who helped the us fight i saw. while the syrian government forces of ridged to deal with the wife b.j. in the event of the village of on the outskirts of man bitch casal who joins us live from istanbul so sue them seems like quite a scramble going on for the question of who fills the vacuum once the u.s. withdraws. yes exactly. right now still the u.s. army members are still there they are actually gradually withdrawing from the region however it is perceived as if they are totally gone of course what's going
5:07 pm
to happen next this is this is the most important question especially for the turkish side who has been complaining about the u.s. financial and military support to the wife e g s t f o because turkey has claimed that has been claiming that the united states provided twenty two two thousand to twenty two thousand vehicles long wiccans full of what pens and the necessary meant and of course there are some heavy armor that are provided to the y.p. g s t f actually which means also the why fiji has all those ruffins of course right now can the united states seem to be on the same page especially regarding the eastern side of the euphrates river and turkey has been saying that they are going to conduct a military operation over there now the question comes up sammy because united

states has been the protector of the y.p. g. in the region saying that they are very good fighters against the eisel in the region. and turkey now wonders who is going to be protecting the wife or will the united states really give up on the wife e.g. now it is a question and we are seeing that there are some movements around which is on which turkey and united states have an agreement as you have said you know we have been hearing the turkish than the state media reporting that bashar assad forces. members but our friends in the region have been talking to the activists and local sources in the field the activists claim that the. assad army members have already been there since two thousand and seventeen when why b.g. was actually. having having some troubles when turkey has threatened to attack the

area so only other hand the. activists in the region in syria they claim that the syrian army is trying to actually make a showing off trying to show that they are doing they are having good progress and they are making some what the white e.g. but we know that the y b j already has been meeting with. the government and they are off and we know that russia is not so much of it is not against the i.p.g. and for for turkey actually the for the most important question is now the united states is going to collect all those weapons that have been delivered to s t f and also why p.g. and turkey is afraid that those guns can be towards turkish soldiers all right. thanks so much gunman and a suicide bomber in libya have a type of foreign ministry headquarters in tripoli initial reports say one of the attackers blew himself up in the compound the attackers killed at least two people

indonesia in twenty eighteen hasn't been particularly unusual what is unusual is that the areas destroyed were heavily populated increasing the number of victims that's meant a very busy year for emergency services and aid organizations that help survivors. beyond our planning yet so that's why we. we didn't read. the rest of it is in to assist us and they also collect money over and under now some of these are nice in the north hundred land is now in the first stage of a disaster recovery process that is moored bones to other parts of in the media it's almost as if this rain which has been a constant since the tsunami hit is mocking the people upon the ground i think trying to clear up and dry out their lives but it will clear and like a it will improve that's little comfort right now but the narrative in indonesia is

necessary money needed to help rebuild syria instead of the united states see isn't that nice when immensely wealthy countries help rebuild their neighbors rather than a great country the u.s. that is five thousand miles away thanks to saudi a problems has more. president trumps tweet prompted more questions than answers he didn't specify how much money saudi arabia would offer to rebuild syria when it would be given how it would be spent or most importantly who would receive the money well that's the big question is where exactly will this money go and i think that that obviously depends a lot on where saudi arabia wants it to go we can probably assume it's not going to go to the russians it's not going to go to the turks for where they're spending a lot on humanitarian aid for refugees it's going to go somewhere else and it may

are difficult and uncertain times in. people here in the cop who told you not to trust the commission they say they're afraid the election could be postponed again and even if it goes on sunday they're not confident it will be credible we don't trust the process but we must go vote one week is nothing but on election day we will take responsibility we either have a good election they resign or we force them to leave. the only thing we expect to receive president kabila so we find another solution and i think the electoral commission is just a puppet of the president and he is the real problem the commission is under pressure to deliver reasonably credible election on sunday with just a few days to go. and not. a new museum is opened in senegal tracing millions of years of african history it's also provoking calls for the return of african artifacts stolen by slave traders.
