congress not that long ago said the democrats want to help with border security we want to talk about more border agents we want to talk about immigration judges we want to talk about high tech drawings what they're not keen on talking about is a wall for there to be a shared victory both sides have got to get something and donald trump didn't get anything out of this except the prospect of more talks and remember those right wing commentators are told you about they criticized them three weeks ago that really precipitated this border this shutdown while they again are on twitter and on other places saying donald trump is and i quote a wimp he has just back don't. given nancy pelosi a win and we have got nothing out of this except very angry workers who are upset president donald trump and of course we know how closely trump watches the commentary from those right wingers to does that mean that a national emergency really could be declared by donald trump if congressional

leaders don't reach some sort of agreement in the coming weeks. well of course that was his bottom line maria you know absolutely right he said at the end of his speech and there was three parts of don't own speech one where he was conciliatory one when it was donald trump's greatest hits on the border when he talked about women being kidnapped and and tied up and then he said if i don't get what i want i have the the way to do it and that is to declare a national emergency a couple of problems with that first of all there is every possibility that that could be challenged in the courts and the second problem with that is there are many many republicans who simply don't want to do that because they think that that creates a president and the next time there is a democratic president then they could declare a national emergency over climate change gun control something like that what this does is move everything down in the road for three weeks i knew would top that given how angry people have been unsure and how angry they are the politicians of both sites will be able to sit round the table come up with

a deal and get something that is agreeable to republicans the democrats and the big if president don't trump all right thank you very much allan fisher in washington well tens of thousands of workers who handle tax forms were ordered back to the office for the start of the tax season there are reports that at least fourteen thousand did not show up there but others on the is in kansas city missouri west six thousand types work as a bull with out pay and gabe i know you're watching that speech with some unpaid work has what did they make of this. yeah what they had to say or their reaction was very telling and i'll get to that in one second but i just first want to tell you where i'm at right now i'm outside of a federal government office here in kansas city and while trump announced that the shutdown is over we see no signs of that here the parking lot is still empty the doors are locked and shut it just gives you an idea on how it's going to take time

to restart the government after it's been shut down for so long it's. not just going to happen with the snap of a finger no as you did mention we did watch trump's announcement with a few of federal workers that work for the internal revenue service the i.r.s. as it's called they have a huge field office here in kansas city they were watching very intently because they had so much at stake and as soon as trump was done speaking i asked one of the ladies there i said and she hasn't been paid for over a month now i said well what's your reaction and she had two words and i'll quote her she said i'm angry and disappointed and i said why she said for multiple reasons but primarily that nobody is celebrating here because they feel in the words of this lady i spoke to that they are trapped by a wall because this is only going to be three weeks back on the job and then they have so much uncertainty about what will happen after that that's one reason

they're upset about this and the second reason is that trump said they hope to get the back pay to people as soon as possible she said that's not good enough we have been paid for to pay cycles now we need money now these are people that are struggling to pay their mortgage struggling to pay for food it's very serious out here and again i spoke to one other worker who's worked the i.r.s. for thirty years right after trump spoke i asked him what was his reaction he said i'm not happy primarily he said because this shutdown could happen again in summary that is the big deal here and that's a big message that we've heard from federal workers they're a little bit happier content that at least they're going back to work but that is so much overshadowed by the uncertainty of what's going to happen three weeks from now because they're smart folks out here and they know if there's no agreement that's reached in washington the government could be shut down once again thank you very much from kansas city missouri gabriel and. only out of a story out of the u.s.
