they can't be they can't be certain about that four people arrested three men and one woman one australian national arrested that information confirmed by australia's foreign minister scott morrison but new zealand police saying that they're not aware of other suspects in these incidents so perhaps we might be reaching the end of the shooting incident in christchurch which was an active situation for a number of hours we also spoke to another reporter and use even on a burnt francis who is a reporter for television new zealand and she gave us this update at the time. we've just received in the last couple of minutes a notification from police that the lockdown across all christchurch schools all schools in the canterbury region has now been lifted that means children who have been kept in school for quite a long time more than they used to three hours over to from when schools would normally finish they can now go home much to the relief of their parents obviously

families of those children will have spent a worrying few hours hoping that all the children will be safe in those schools so police say that means there is still a large police presence across the city but that those children can now go home for the evening what about the mosques the situation at the mosques. well the situation remains unchanged obviously the these two mosques that were the scenes of these horrific acts are now crime scenes but of course there are a number of mosques across the rest of the country is the muslim population is not big at sony about forty six thousand people at the last count but there are mosques around all of the main seems as of new zealand and in much smaller towns as well with these communities will congregate so police have said that as a precaution and a precaution only they don't believe there's any active three to those mosques but as a precaution they have sent patrol cars to every mosque around the country that they're

aware of and they're also asking that mosques keep their doors shut until they say this threat is over. and you know i think for for our viewers it's very important to understand you know the situation in new zealand in what we're dealing here is an unprecedented event for the country police in new zealand not on these events the shootings don't happen in new zealand as the do in the united states for instance so what sort of response can we expect after this from the authorities and from the public. absolutely you are quite correct new zealand is just not used to seeing. at the moment of course they will be on high alert and they are all. the responses have responded across the country focusing on the region so it's two way street really i suppose for many people it will be reassuring for others it will be a reminder that this could still be

people who i would describe as having extremist views that have really no place in new zealand and in fact have no place in the world. while we do not have any reason to believe at this stage that the any other suspects we are not assuming that. the joint intelligence group has been deployed to employ pushing all of the resources into the situation room the defense force are currently transporting additional police staff to the region and our national security threat level has been lifted from too high for this so i want to assure people is to ensure that all agencies are responding and the most appropriate why that includes at our borders many of you will have seen it in new

really horrified you know i think everyone's walking around in a daze it was eight years ago that we've been through a devastating earthquake people are still feeling the effects of that whether it with their physical play or even insurance issues which still dragged on today so this community the city the second largest city in new zealand has been through a tremendous ordeal like years ago which they still feeling the effects of so to go through. through this terror attack you know except the most disgusting violence you could ever major in as is just horrifying in a place that we pride ourselves on our on our love on our tolerance and our community spirit so i think everyone is just gulp snicked getting can you give us an idea of how things given the security situation right now how people are feeling the insecurity now surrounding the city. look i think people

have dawned on the fic that new zealand will never be the same again i think national security will never be the same again the way that perhaps we have been about things in the past and you look and you say well ok it's in america and bouts of europe but i think there's always been this unwritten belief that it just doesn't happen in new zealand people don't want to say that because they don't want to jinx it but i think everyone that's visits to the country feels that way so you know it isn't like to repeat things about. it's just staggering that we could witness you know such scenes of height and violence like that and you know particularly tolerant country and peaceful city like cross-stitch so everyone is i think still in disbelief i think at the moment they try and they want to be with the families they're giving the kids a big i'm going to have a young eighteen month old son and pregnant wife at the moment we're at home and we're just glad that we haven't been caught up in this but school children have just have been in lockdown so a lot of people public buildings out christchurch city civic facilities have all

been locked down and only recently has that has that been lifted so only now that we children coming home to the parents not be the getting a lot of love from the parents that your prime minister has made a point to say that new zealand has always been a safe place for emigrants are you concerned that this feeling could change and particularly with immigrant communities having in targeted in this attack. look i think that is inevitable but i think we also need to be cognizant of the think that there are bad people everywhere and no one is immune to that i don't think that new zealand is necessarily more interest today or tomorrow in a general sense than what it was yesterday there are just four individuals as far as we are currently just downright evil down to the to the bar and one of them is astronomy and three others unsure where they're from but unfortunately this just this isn't that kind of humanity that unfortunately there are just some people like
