fellow again i'm dead you're watching al-jazeera live from doha also ahead the results so far show the gentle leader who overthrew thailand's previous government is on track to stay in power. and we're in one of the remote parts of mozambique where help is finally arriving by road more than a week. hello a summary of the long awaited mulla report has found there was no evidence that donald trump's campaign colluded with russia during the twenty sixth the election the us president has declared it a complete and total exoneration but the summary doesn't draw a conclusion on whether trump obstructed justice and democrats in congress say this is an over how to contain reports from washington d.c. . it's the investigation u.s. president donald trump has long condemned as a witch hunt in till it was released and now the president is cheering the findings
8:50 am
there was no collusion with the russia there was no up structure. and none whatsoever. and it was a complete and total exoneration that's not completely true the attorney general says there is no evidence the trump campaign coordinated with russian officials but on obstruction of justice the special counsel robert mueller didn't decide if he should be charged the attorney general made that call and in his letter to congress he made clear this report doesn't find the president didn't possibly commit a crime writing the special counsel states that while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime it also does not exonerate him and that is democrats demanding answers jerry nadler heads the committee in congress that will be investigating turning general clark. who are different for his role you don't remember in the suggesting that the obstruction investigation was on fungible and that
8:51 am
a president and that it was almost impossible for any president who committed rupturing of justice if he's the head of the executive branch made a decision about that evidence and under forty eight hours this included raise more questions than the answer given the fact that muller uncovered evidence that in his own words does not exonerate the president he's promising to call officials to testify and vowing to get the tens of thousands of pages of evidence that have been collected the trump campaign was quick to try and use this to bolster his chances of reelection really see in this video evidence is pretty clear that there was collusion in the president's proclaiming victory but as congress pushes to make all the evidence public and with several other investigations ongoing he may want his supporters to believe it's over it isn't political he al-jazeera washington. lots of the white house were. castro and the reaction from the president or
8:52 am
noor reaction i should say because he has been tweeting and he's he made a brief statement earlier on that's right during and he has been back at the white house now for about an hour having returned from his vacation home in florida and moving from the helicopter into the building he was peppered with questions from reporters for more response to this report the president would only say in his words quote america is the greatest place on earth from the press secretary of the president though reporters were given a little bit more information about what happened aboard air force one of that two hour flight back from florida the spokesperson said that trump was feeling very good that he had not read the full report but rather the summary as the rest of the public had and when asked by reporters why trump keeps saying that he was exonerated when that is not what the report says the spokesperson said that prosecutors don't exonerate they prosecute they don't have
8:53 am
a negative so despite this battle in semantics the president is seeing what the conclusion of this report as a comprehensive victory and that is the message he is selling to the american people tonight and as for the democrats what are their next steps right up until this point there has been talk by some about the possibility of impeachment is that still a possibility for them a course of action that they want to pursue. well constitutionally yes i mean the congress has the right to impeach and because democrats control the house of representatives that begins that process the chairman of the judiciary committee in the house gerry navl or has not ruled out the possibility but he's also in the weeks leading up to the results that were released today he was very careful as well as other house leadership among democrats in not at least not showing the
8:54 am
public that they're rushing to conclusion judgments and what we do know of this report that. is not be that there was no evidence of collusion between trump and the russian government and that this question of obstruction of justice was unanswered by the special counsel robert mueller but led to the attorney general who was appointed by trump to not press any more charges that doesn't go the whole way of course the democrats may have been hoping for that would have really solidify their case for impeachment and leading up to the two thousand and twenty presidential election the the danger that democrats may face is that if they do initiate impeachment which again they can do at any time that they may not have the support of the american public to convince enough of their peers in the senate which is dominated by republicans and we needed two thirds majority to successfully impeach the president that all of that would end with unsuccessful impeachment
8:55 am
which trump would very likely again spin into more of this victimization a witch hunt narrative that he's successfully sold to his base in combat ing the democrats during all right. thank you for that update from just outside the white house let's also speak to jeff hauser he's joining us from washington as well he's the executive director of the revolving door project at the center for economic policy research dr hauser gets a hollywood. again on al jazeera so if we just look at the summary of that letter that was put out by the attorney general he says that he did not establish coordination or conspiracy but are you satisfied with what's written in this letter and about the basis of the contacts for those findings that have come out i am not it is always going to be very difficult to summarize a lengthy and extensive investigation in three and a half pages even if one intended to provide a fully honest take on such
8:56 am
a long investigation but i don't get the sense that this is a credible neutral passive and best take on what the investigation shows rather. than to be attorney general to be a trump loyalist to be someone who believes in presidential power or republican and i think that he is choosing his words artfully to try to provide people a sense of exoneration that is not in any way justified by the language he provides and is probably inconsistent with the actual underlying evidence was. seeking to what questions would you still like answered or were you looking for in the summary that did not come out. sure i'd like to know for instance did the republicans change their platform when they changed their platform with respect to russia to make it more russia friendly what were the motivations of the people what
8:57 am
were the discussions like about that and what did mowers investigation show what did most investigations show about the june ninth two thousand and sixteen meeting at the trump tower where the russian government sought that meeting on the basis of continuing russian government's assistance to the trump campaign what was discussed in that meeting what did the people at that meeting say and frankly why did mower stop his investigation without ever interviewing donald trump jr who convened that meeting in the first place so i have a lot of questions about what may have come just short of facing for the legal standard of conspiracy but is otherwise deeply concerning are these questions in your opinion going to be answered in the full moeller reports and when it becomes public we there's a lot we still don't know about what the mower report even even is trying to do is
8:58 am
it solely was meeting the minimum of the legal standard an obligation that muller was under which is to discuss that is the making process with respect to prosecuting or not prosecuting people i'm sure he fulfilled that mandate to but did he go further and discuss evidence about the counterintelligence investigation into what ties may or may not have with the russian government russian business people the saudi government united arab emirates china there are a lot of different questions about trump which they may have the cumulated evidence about but they may not have included in this report and so i think democrats are going to be seeking not just the report but the underlying findings in facts that accumulated over two years all right jeff hauser thank you for giving us your perspective from washington. kenya's government has warned more than a million people are at risk of starvation as a severe drought grips the northern half of the country rainfall has been low for months killing crops and leaving people unable to feed themselves properly only
