a similar way and that got the biggest smile from president hassan rouhani he also immediately addressed the security problem between the two countries we have seen attacks on either side of their border stun baluchistan on the iranian side blotched one province on the pakistani side dozens of soldiers have died on each side since the beginning of this year and he addressed this was the one moment where he defended pakistan in a way saying that the country has lost seventy thousand people in the past few years to terrorism as he said it related incidents and that pakistan knows best how to counter these problems and he defended and defended pakistan's counterterrorism record he also went on to say that the intelligence chiefs of the two countries will be sitting together to cooperate and to be able to create a dialogue to combat armed groups that are residing on both sides of their shared border now imran khan has been as a candidate a very very strong critic of the united states and he as prime minister. carried on

you to my parents for their support and for living through all of this thanks to my team for their strength and stamina has my wife heard all of the things that was said about me in this campaign and perhaps she would never have married me faced with defeat president petro poroshenko was magnanimous but he will continue to play a role in ukrainian politics the ukrainians dear ukrainians i want to underline that the new president will face strong opposition very strong but i want to say that the country our ukraine which is the best in the world well only benefit from it. poroshenko painted zelinsky as naive and experienced dangerous for a country at war with russia with questionable links to an unsavory oligarch. but zelinsky patrice himself as a simple guy who had come to break the oligarchic system
6:10 pm
a corrupt system many ukrainians believe poroshenko as a wealthy businessman belonged to it was either a protest vote or a genuine belief that a comedian might make a worthy commander in chief a martyr just maybe it is time maybe those who think differently i majority leader choices very simple either or either hope or a like with zelinsky is hope but you must mean we want change. flood to meet zelinsky a fictional president now it seems the president elect. fiction has become fact. zillion ski and his team consider break this election victory but defeating corruption. and ending the war with russia is going to prove harder word in english. he may be funny but ukrainians have
6:11 pm
shown little patience for presidents and failed to deliver. and robin is joining us live from kiev now so when can we hear more from selenski robin about how he plans to govern now that he has been given this huge mandate by the people. everyone is waiting to find out more devil in the detail to zielinski plans and i imagine and we expect that in the next few days he will stay to give a big press conference and talk about those policies but we can narrow it down to three key areas sorting out the economy. dealing with corruption and making it more democratic system in ukraine and. dealing with the ongoing conflict in the east of the country between ukrainian and separatists pro russian forces that are actually backed by vladimir putin's russia and i think everyone here is hoping that
6:12 pm
he's going to add something new that poroshenko was unable to achieve for instance to to make things more democratic by having more people's referendums to take away the immunity from prosecution that's serving politicians enjoy and with regards to the war zielinski made a very interesting statement early on in the campaign he he said that russians and ukrainians were blood brothers and that he would be prepared if necessary to get down on his knees or get down on one knee and plead with me who didn't know what to leave ukraine alone but to ask him what it is he wants him to do what it is that ukraine so. needs to do in order to bridge itself of this ongoing conflict not for that reason petro poroshenko painted zelinsky is naive but i think that ukrainians
6:13 pm
want something else from their politicians a bit more humanity and a little bit more pragmatism and given what you're saying robin about russia and that huge issue how russian president vladimir putin and then the rest of europe be looking on at this victory. we've already heard some reaction from from moscow and from brussels the european union has said that it stands firmly behind ukraine in its congratulated ukrainians on the water has been a relatively free and fair open election process and that of course it's a good example for other countries in the so-called post soviet sphere now prime minister medvedev in russia has said that no is potentially an opportunity a chance to improve toys between ukraine. and russia but of course

i don't think that ukrainians are under any illusion that in order to achieve that that's going to be an extremely difficult arduous road ahead robin thank you very much for that and now that is robin forestay a walker with the latest live in kiev thank you. now i should finally get a mary lou mcdonald has called for an end to violence rioting in northern ireland after the murder of journalist on the key the head of the irish publican party made the comments during easter rising commemorations in belfast twenty nine year on the quay were shot one observing the rioting in london dairies creek in a state on thursday night mcdonald says no progress can be made through action. it's past time now for these groups that masquerades as republicans chip. book and pocket in. their activities and should let the people get on with the work of building a new united ireland that's right and that we all want an army and that will be

certainly. say that already. a top officials indeed the very top leadership of this country are now blaming each other or trying to capitalize on this disaster for their own political games or the very least trying to protect themselves. as i say this announcement today from from the health minister a huge embarrassment for this government and we also we do understand that the government have launched an investigation so they say exactly how this has happened how this failure in communication has happened and how they could have better protected the hundreds of people that have either died or been injured in these horrific attacks but of course the health minister in the press called for and did suggest that it was a local group that perhaps was a pivotal leak in control of those attacks but it has appealed to the international community for more help because because the the the immense and strategic

coordination of these attacks leads analysts to believe that it's a much bigger operation done just a small local group. that's right a lot of focus of attention on this group a group called the national to. describe themselves as as a muslim charity involved in charity work they have madrassas the islamic schools teaching students about it they are described by some quarters is being quite a radical group but there's no indication yet as to whether this group in fact is a kind of formally paid allegiance to groups like. al qaida. so certainly those comments made by the health minister focusing attention scroope but yes as you say very important as to what level of help or assistance

whether it be funding with money with with weapons with with explosives whoever indeed carried out this attack go from international groups and the evidence suggests that because they were so highly coordinated so many different places at a very similar time it would indeed suggest that they could well have been international terror networks involved in some way in the planning and execution of these attacks it's a fast moving story charles and as it develops of course we will come back to you during the day for the fourth in colombo. i said to africa the military council has ordered people to stop blocking roads and let police do their jobs well the warning comes after protesters suspended talks with the council that depose president earlier this month have a cartoon. i in this third week of the sit in at the army headquarters in sudan's capital hard to thousands gathered around

a podium there waiting for the coalition of the declaration of freedom and change to announce names first a billion transitional council the coalition made a different announcement. will continue with the sit in and have suspended talks with the military council will escalate the revolution on the streets through protest schedules tell all demands are implemented we'll start forming a complete transitional authority that we'll announce in a few days. the military council took over when it ousted president bashir on the eleventh of april ending his thirty year rule it had hoped that forcing out bashir would end the sit in that started nearly a week before after months of protests. since taking over the military council has been in talks with political parties to form a transitional government but many at the sit in say the army isn't keen to hand over power to civilian government a key demand for them to end the protests and return home. as i would have most

likely in a in my opinion where with the declaration of freedom and change because they got is this far i will be with them till the end since the council is part of the old regime and is behaving like the old regime will continue with protest till it's gone we said to those we make music because so many years. government ruling was not good and now we want to change this is there were citizens from the government that is it is us because it is the ruling just. the military council has repeatedly said that. it will hand over power if political parties in sudan are ready to form an inclusive government of consensus because here. we are hoping that we and the political parties and other stakeholders will get over our differences so we can speed up with what is needed at this time the military council reference that it isn't against any party and abides by the slogans of the revolution for freedom peace and democracy. but not all parties are

in agreement on how to form the government and what it should look like. what the city needs professional association had its coalition and now saying that it has suspended talks with the military council it seems at this stage in front of bombing headquarters is not coming to an end anytime soon and more than a week after al thing president bashir of sudan he's nowhere near forming a transitional government. what comes next will largely depend on how much pressure the protesters can put on the military council and how long it takes for the divided parties to come together to start a new face for the country. even more going on to zero. four let's go live to the sudanese capital one hundred val who is a large forest it's all about really trying to find a compromise is it not that will appease the protesters and one wonders really how far down the line to appeasement we are. well the signs from yesterday are going in
7:00 pm
a different direction than appeasement quite the opposite direction and today also we have this statement from the military council ordering the opening of rolls and passages you know that well those that have been used are being used to supply the tomb and other areas with that with the necessities of life and that there was a long statement distributed to the press and that you know some of the protesters are taking public all that into their own hands the understanding is that this is a kind of in direct response to the decision yesterday by the leadership of the protesters to stop coordination and talks to the military with the military council so instead of appeasement instead of. mutual understanding we see the tool sides taking steps and announcing things that could only lead to escalation we have been . told in very young.
