peninsula for some time this summit might have brought putin's involvement a little closer step al-jazeera. russia. putin is among the many world leaders attending what's been described as china's biggest diplomatic event of the year president xi jinping addressed the summit on his ambitious road infrastructure project linking two thirds of the world's population tried to address concerns about china's investments putting countries deep into debts beijing is expected to invest one trillion dollars worth of infrastructure projects and seventy countries to treat you as the latest from beijing. thirty seven heads of state are in beijing this weekend for the belgian reform including russia's vladimir putin and nike and one hundred from malaysia and they're about seventy countries involved in this parliament together they make up about thirty percent of the world's g.d.p. but for china this isn't just a discussion about maritime and railway infrastructure projects for china this is
12:09 pm
a long term project and really their attempt to reorder the global economic and political order what they want to do is pull the power away from the west towards themselves putting themselves at the center of it and really becoming a flag bearer for globalization and we saw president xi jinping say in his address that he was going to sign more fee trade deals and he's also addressing some criticisms of the belgian road project the u.s. and the e.u. have said that it's really just vying for more political influence by beijing and it's getting countries into a debt trap by lending them this money and then sort of being beholden to china because of it so during his speech he did emphasize that they're going to put forward some more us. and it's to fight corruption to put more sustainable green financing and to really have a higher standard of infamy mentation in these projects but for all the criticism the better road project is starting to be taken more seriously by other countries

and we saw a big win for china actually with italy joining the first g seven country what's clear though as more players are involved in this project china is aware that there is going to be more scrutiny and they're really going to have to deliver on better deals more effective deals and deals that are truly a win win not just for china but for the countries in which these projects are implemented in former us vice president joe biden has officially entered the twenty twenty race to the white house mark says the term the presidency those are white house correspondent can be held that explains his candidacy is not without its challenges. so glad to be here with you today never before have the candidates to become the u.s. democratic presidential nominee been more diverse of the twenty running many are candidates of color and female joe biden is neither in the battle for the soul of this nation that might be one reason biden chose the issue of race in his

12:14 pm
a surreal scene to my right is a freight train known as the beast in spanish and to my left a group of central american migrants and all i would say that there's some around three hundred central american migrants that are waiting to climb aboard this train now the reason that we're seeing so many of these people opting to climb aboard this specific freight train which has been known in the past to claim the lives of migrants who simply fall asleep and fall off the side of the train cars is that many of them are afraid to walk on the highway or hitch rides on the highway given a change in attitude by the mexican people and the mexican government themselves and i say this change into. attitude because in the past when we would see migrant caravans making their way north across the mexican border with the wal-mart with water mala we would see people walk among these migrants with open arms we would see donations taking place and we would see mexican officials simply allow them through mexican government was even handing them humanitarian visas to allow them

at times unfair this i regret because it's not why i am and it's not helped our cause. macro's new policies were based on the findings of the great debate and initiative he launched in january to give people a chance to discuss their concerns at a town hall meetings and online an attempt by the president to end months of yellow fest street protests over the cost of living in the state of politics emanuel not all hope that his speech in new policies will convince french people that he's heard their concerns over the social inequality and he's trying to help he knows that if he fails to persuade them his credibility his popularity and is a policy to continue with his reforms will suffer. in paris yellow vests supporters gathered after the president's speech and said that not out there back to the sort of actual to do it my reaction to he says speech east one word resign when a government does not answer to people from need it is necessary to hold elections

for a while. so in staff meetings we would raise the question they're working too much and he said they did not work that much now we heard that from the client so we wanted to know for a fact thank you bilodeau also worked at the baton rouge facility as a clinical director of. the year at sun a core she became concerned that work was getting in the way of her clients recovering did other counsellors there have the same concerns as you every one of them to you. every time the issue was brought up they would deny and say no they're not working those amount of hours we would say it again they would deny deny and then we just made up a spreadsheet to show the proof at a staff meeting peggy presented senekal monitors with a document that revealed that some clients were working twelve hour days seven days
12:29 pm
a week it was gratifying to slide the spreadsheet across with the data or data but you had kind of proof of what you were saying yeah i was disappointed that we saw the facts the facts were delivered the facts were not acted on and that's what i was disappointed about and so i was hope that we had could have made a difference where we could given the more solid foundation to move forward on but it was not it was not that was just kind of fell on deaf ears. outside the baton rouge was still to the long workdays continue. it's just after dawn and these white vans. shuttling senekal clients to jobs. many will end up inside the oil and gas industry some of the most dangerous work places in america. in two thousand and fourteen alister williams was working at a chemical plant called for most of plastics. the job building scaffolds put him
