for the west there's also only one or two showers around parts of turkey at the moment i think those will intensify as we head into monday and some of the downpours will be rather lively but that's really the only regions of what weather for the south though there's more crowd here and there's also more activity also spawned or not ning out of the cloud over parts of saudi arabia and is a drifting its way eastwards we see a fair amount of cloud a few outbreaks of rain here in doha as well that's still going to be with us that system as we head through the day on sunday so still a chance of seeing a few showers here but on monday it clears away and then off to that it looks like the temperatures will shoot up say thirty two degrees on monday but i hope to as we head through cheese day and wednesday down to was the southern parts of africa of course we've seen all storm kenniff but it's largely disintegrated now there's just a few rather heavy showers to be seen most of those staying off the coast there will be more showers here as we head through the next few days and again some of them could be very heavy for the southeast looking largely dry and at twenty four.

jonah hill he is in barcelona what impact is the election likely to have on catalonia and its independence supporters china. well one way or another it could i think have a pretty profound impact perhaps even decisive on the direction of the independence movement here the fifty percent of catalans of course who support independence but remember this is a movement that has already had an enormous impact on the direction of national politics it is pro independence m.p.'s in the national parliament who helped to trigger the snap election in the first place when they withdrew their support from the socialists earlier this year it is a movement that has been an enormous catalyst in the. support for the far right vox party the ultra conservative party the first far right force in spanish politics since the death of the general franco forty years ago and which ever way the result goes it is a movement that has already influenced that result whether in encouraging

a right wing coalition including vox determined to stamp out separatism altogether or by lending its support to a new leftist coalition with the socialists and perhaps just the faintest chance in that of a negotiated solution at some point down the line take a look at my report. its abilities of support. arrived regularly after eighteen months in prison and on trial in madrid catalans haven't forgotten independence a former interior minister for him and his wife laura and their daughters know that you are kim hasn't forgotten them. the telling that he doesn't is us. saying that he holds him next year we don't see a record together and he's with us now probably. the trial of twelve cattle and independence leaders on charges of rebellions addition then by misuse of public funds follows the region's referendum and unilateral declaration of independence which was met by police violence in two thousand and seventeen it's taken on heavy

significance for a movement struggling to reassert itself last in search of a way to achieve its goal. that i see very clearly that people don't feel like compromising in this ends up giving up of recognizing the renouncing it i don't see that it's possible that some people may think that we need more time that it doesn't have to be an immediate but i don't see any kind of resignation at all if not now then what is to happen in the interim at the national level spain's socialist government may pay a heavy price in this weekend's election for its attempts to negotiate over catalonia a surge in support for the far right nationalist brock's party risks dragging the entire political landscape to the right making a compromise over cattle and separatist aspirations seem less likely than ever if there is to the right then the radical right in spain everything is going to be

more difficult because that this practice in the right part of the explicit a lot of. the money again so it's not going to be only a matter off of it in the bed in this project but they're very. very core of a. their set of government on the open i mean that was recovered during their. democracy and so perhaps inevitably there's a quiet shift towards a more pragmatic approach is in business it is hard to see that the public is unless the main political party of the roughly sixty percent of people anderson support the independents some of its leaders and you can see they are in prison not addressing the crowd here by live video link the message increasingly is that unilateral action didn't work the way forward now is through dialogue and political legitimacy. that means winning as many seats as possible in the national parliament and influencing change within the dream of independence isn't getting any closer

but it does remain very much alive. so the independent streaming lingers jonah but the way forward is uncertain. the way forward is uncertain certainly there in search of a way forward but the independence movement may well have a way forward thrust upon them because they are coalesced and indeed a great many catalans beyond the pure independent supporters of coalesced around another issue more immediate more pressing than the goal of independence and that is that trial of the twelve probably dependent leaders in madrid ongoing now there's a verdict expected in a couple of months a months time people here see them as political prisoners they see their case as a symbol of repression handed down by central government in madrid and if those verdicts turn out to be guilty verdicts in a couple of months time well that could well be the spark that reignite all over

again the independence of passions the shimmering anger the frustration the resentment here and has the potential certainly to draw even more support to the independence cause thank you very much jonah hill bringing us the latest from barcelona sunny gago is in the capital in the trade and so near their capital and crisis as jonah was saying is at the heart of these campaigns but. does this election risk deepening the polarization in the country. well maryam it's really unprecedented phase of its own democracy there's never been really years such a fractured state of affairs in the lead up to election forces as you mentioned earlier the two main parties is pretty much a binary choice for voters in the last few years that has been changing people's dissatisfied with the status quo
3:25 am
a lot of anger also about political corruption in which both of a political parties were implicated in that of course has opened up the grounds for these other smaller. these and most attention is being thrust upon the emergent far right parties and as jonah mentioned in his report fox has been using the crisis in catalonia and the subsequent constitutional crisis as a way of galvanizing people who feel angry that the previous government did not tackle this hard enough so without the direct effect has really been away. from the people's party and that this had direct effect on that meanwhile the socialists are so far ahead in the polls in the lead up to this election what is upset is certain is that even if the socialist do manage to get the most amount of votes they will have to try an end to it into some kind of coalition with the far left until stirred see where there was a party and also all the regional parties if knox the leader of the socialist but

assembly members who cannot take part in this election have been in government over the last ten years and have properties business interests and companies and now they can't meet their tax bills so they're not eligible for us in the republican party we are not only proud to be taking part in this election we are also doing our best to defend the constitution. well that's not the view from the other side opposition politicians believe the eligibility ruling is a deliberate move to fill the national assembly with candidates that will comply with the president's agenda to do so. it's a legislative coup and for us in opposition it is not acceptable we cannot endorse what's happening whichever way you look this is an unprecedented situation so much so the response of religious leaders traditional regional chiefs the west african bloc. and non-government organizations and also the president to intervene

however the president says the polls on sunday should go ahead the assembly failed to reach an agreement on a constitutional way forward following the announcement in march that the opposition parties were ineligible according to a prominent civil society activist what's happening takes the country back decades so. it's unfortunate it's sad and it's a step back for a democratic tradition and been in and it's contrary to article three of our constitution since multi-party democracy the people of britain have had the right to vote with legitimate option and this is a part of their sovereignty and now millions have been in years will be denied that right. as the country prepares to vote many are wondering what will happen next as they find themselves in unfamiliar territory among forcing al-jazeera. health officials in pakistan are suspended nationwide and the polio campaign follows the killing of a health worker and two policeman escorting vaccination teams pakistan is one of
