that direction when i was getting married everyone was running out and now they told me everyone's like get out of there shooting was everywhere and they were picking up people off the street and they were shooting at everyone randomly and that's from what i was told i tried to enter the setting from different roads but they all blocked and the people who were basically backing up and were running for their lives so it was a high anger right now on the streets that even you can hear and the people of a city block cutting the city down setting it down blocking all the votes at the moment. so how does that square that situation the demonstration had called his if you like that was outside of the ministry of defense has that been clear head or does that still the people still remain. so far all the news that we're getting that has been cleared i personally. earth time of the night in a week and i was not there. so i have friends in there that i got called before i

defense troops entered the area where crowds had been gathering outside military headquarters it started around 90 minutes ago in the early hours of the morning cartoon time since then the protests have started to spread to other parts of the city with this is a speaking of the soldiers having been heavily armed and of using live fire until i guess the committee of sudanese doctors says at least 2 people have been killed many others have been critically injured and the main protest group the professionals association says the ruling military council will be held accountable for any bloodshed they are calling for people to march to the city center in support and to overthrow the military council but have it i mean is a journalist who has been one of the protesters at the scene we spoke to him earlier as the crackdown began to unfold and we can talk to him again live from

khartoum mohammed thanks for joining us again what are your laces observations what have you seen since we last spoke to you. yes in the. last couple of hours. supporter who is police forces or supported these men actually using the uniforms of the police because they may not be able to call them some sources from the police itself but in the last 2 hours and they are attacking the. protesters. still these attacks are still ongoing. medical field clinics and now the danger is inside no one can and can conceive country today and that is inside. the situation inside from the. protesters who are inside the square. is really miserable the people from what i.

can see the people fleeing from their outside the square now some neighborhoods. and you have. to demonstrate some of them. worry every area try to join be able to stand in the square but they have. forces actually make them around the city in the square and prevented anyone from from entering there. and even. the news from inside the square is a. difficult situation. people are still seen outside the place can you still hear gunfire. gunfire around actually. from everywhere around from miles read

our people came to the square for a sit in because this is our country and it's cowardly for you to watch this happening and do nothing we're calling on the security forces to move without instruction from their seniors do something about this to protect this nation to protect our people we will not go back we will not give up i don't think that this peaceful sit in isn't protected the nation stands with us we will not leave our beloved country to be run by corrupt people this is our country and we will have a democratic future do not give up or lose hope the military had a history of protecting the sudanese people don't let us down. right. let's have a look now at some of the main players in this political struggle the transitional military council the t m c has been governing the country since the ousting of former president omar al bashir in april it's been negotiating with the declaration

of freedom and change forces that's a coalition that's made up of opposition parties and civil society groups and among their misson sudanese professionals association which has been a leading voice in the protest movement there's also the party headed by the former prime minister. mark de the sudan congress party is also in the coalition along with the influential communist party there's a 2nd block of 80 political parties called the national dialogue initiative they're seen as being allies of bashir and they've been rejected by the protesters right we can speak to. who is the representative of the sudanese professors association in london she's joining us on the phone thank you very much indeed for talking to us 1st of all give us your. assessment of what was going on in the last

couple of hours in sudan. what's happening at the moment is another massacre in the city and in front of the army headquarters very concerned about the safety of the civilians we are aware at the moment that even doctors in the clinics are being set out. we there are a 100 casualties. you know unfortunately we have lost lives at the moment about 2 to 3 fourths of the. shooting to kill you know our civilians and that's not acceptable right now why do you think the our s s are there the rapid support for physical. units of the military why do you think it's decided to act today they have been

acting like this is governor look a job is more sort of i would say events shooting sort of my abilities and a mission as you may be aware. on the 30th of may there was another massacre. there is a trial to try to you know sort of demolish the city and try to. stop people from continuous sitting but. it is very bloody it is a crime that they've got national community must be stunned and call them what's been happening. pollution will continue and people are moving towards the city at the moment but to my knowledge boom. we feel strongly that what has been happening is a true massacre. where we understand from the sudan doctors committee that 2

people have died but they are talking of many having been injured or many of those injuries are critical that's what the central committee of sudan doctors is reporting so it doesn't sound as though it's been a massacre as yet well even the injuries the massacre and even the blood disorders even we don't want to lose more would like. people to lose their life and least tragedy some of them of them fatal. that has been called for blood. so far as even the idea of shooting an unarmed civilian by like a militia was there sitting there practicing their rights in itself we consider that a massacre why do you think the. the military has changed the tone so significantly. it has not changed is still it's just becoming frustrated

that the people who are going. to ask for the legitimate request that people will not accept. relation will not accept the military transition council will look at sept p.d. are led by the military. these requests are legitimate and people continue and therefore they are going back to violence this is the same duty in the state that you continue to practice the same violations against the people of sudan and does this mean do you feel that you've been betrayed by the military particularly those who were part of the transitional military council who were part of the dialogue part of the negotiations. they are accountable for what happened and they must stand up in front of the people of sudan and. take.

this they should protect the people they claimed when they came on the 1112 of april they were there to respond to the people of sudan and to contact the people of sudan what has been happening so far is actually opposite to this actually very clear that they were not genuine in what they've been saying do you think do you have any confidence that the dialogue can be resumed and that there can be a settlement that will satisfy the protest movement. we are very concerned about those who are injured because we will look you know we have lost we will have to go back and review the situation we follow what the people of sudan will say. and i think at this moment at this stage now it is very difficult collect such a comment right ok we're looking at pictures at the moment of casualties and

appeals appears to be a hospital not sure if it's one of the field hospitals but we're also getting miles we're getting news the 2 hospitals at least have been surrounded by the military what's your information as to how casualties are being dealt with and whether they're getting access to the kind of treatment that they need. there are some clinics of the surrounding. some. hospitals would be treated at the moment all doctors and medical staff being called to come and help. save hundreds of people who are injured serious injuries we are very very worried and very concerned to be honest with you i came live at the moment just to say back to the national community. we are facing violation for our for our region with request.

protesters have been killed. by the r.s.s. therefore we are calling for a report from the international community. and i mean have you been disappointed so far by the response of the international community there are obviously certain countries who've offered outright in public support for the military. so far i think we have managed to. hear that it was. a human to people expected to run uprising and we are calling for those who believe in freedom peace and justice to be supporting the people of sudan. are supporting the t.n.c. i think it's very clear for them now that this is. a council that who
