bernard really an opportunity to talk but with no senior palestinian or israeli officials there me what credibility does this conference have in the long term because that's what cushion a wants doesn't it sort of traction for the future well we know that we think the white house had wanted israeli political leaders government leaders of some level to be represented at this conference but pressure from the palestinian leadership on gulf leaders not to have the israelis here in those gulf leaders saying that the americans succeeded for the palestinians that's why there aren't israeli government officials here we understand there are some israeli business leaders in bahrain those are the palestinians are pleased with that because they don't want this conference giving too much credence the sort of credence as you say the giant questioner is hoping it will get because they aim really this is really a lot of israelis in the idea that the ideas that cushion is putting forward the
1:01 pm
idea is essentially to try and make peace with the arab world 1st israel to talk and make peace we are the world 1st and then sort out an agreement with the palestinians rather than what is the current idea which is for israel to reach a deal with the palestinians and then make peace with the rest of the arab world this conference is sort of helping to create this scenario or this sets up where they are world and dealing with arab world comes 1st dealing with palestinians comes seconds is sort of chicken and egg situation sort of burnet i suppose because if you wonder what the long term aim that is the of the conference is with regard to the fact that the political part of the deal apparently isn't going to be released until after the israeli general election in september and therefore the ground realities could be very different bye then. well a bit where we do we do know that jarrett cushion has essentially said in the interview that he gave with al-jazeera before this conference started and in
1:02 pm
a previous interview he's essentially said the 2 state solution is dead so we can expect from that whenever that political aspect is launched we can expect some sort of some sort of alternative to that while that is just not going to wash with the palestinians and it would be something that the leadership in the rest of the arab world would find it extremely hard to swallow because their populations would prepare prepared to swallow it so the idea i guess from this conference is to try and make the economic opportunities look so enticing for the palestinians and do not underestimate of course the palestinian economy is in desperate need of investment in the west bank and in garza so the idea is make it look so good that they'll be able to swallow whatever the political price is when the political aspect of this deal is presented but are the palestinians to expect the palestinians to accept anything less than a 2 state solution is

by a reasonably substantial margin among democrats but that simply reflects name recognition the best chance the democrats have to beat donald trump is to nominate an exciting inspirational charismatic nominee like the republicans did with ronald reagan in 1980 with his great one liners when the democrats did in 2008 with iraq obama's inspirational rhetoric that is the task for the 20 or so democrats at the upcoming debate who's going to have the great lines who's going to have the kinds of kind of rhetoric to inspire the democratic faithful it remains to be seen never pre-judge. i love that comment from allen it remains to be seen i have no idea yet 25 democrats vying to challenge and ultimately president donald trump next november on wednesday 10 of those candidates will present their case for becoming the democratic party's presidential nominee with another tank get

a new opportunity to do so. so many hopefuls competing for the top spot the skirmishes have already begun especially among the more well known contenders in the last week alone senator cory booker has called out former vice president joe biden's record on civil rights while senators elizabeth warren and bernie sanders are competing for the attention of more progressive minded democrats so how would a sign that makes play out on the debate stage returning to the stream to help us answer that question and survey the landscape republican strategist and the founder of the women's public leadership network brad jenkins is a democratic party strategist and host of the polkas fired up and in miami and correspondent for al jazeera english however you really get to see let's just see if you can pass this test we have a rails app panels 24 candidates so follow who's missing who's missing from back here. and then use that argument into the race.

i had no idea there was so many the question is you have 25 people. wanting to run for president what is the point. and why so many why would you even bother i think look in their defense when donald trump announce his candidacy for president everyone laughed at them and i think in many ways donald trump didn't think he was going to be president so i think that just this just shows in many ways i think it shows the whack unfortunately the lack of leadership in the democratic party when you had a transformational candidate like barack obama preside over a presidency for 8 years and kind of fold back. into a post presidency life there's a lot to fill that void and we haven't quite filled that void so i think it's look there's way too many i think samantha bee did

a great job of laying out all of the people that should be running for senate not for. a well known american well known american comedian sorry for the national. canadian but but i think that if you end of the day all of these candidates are going to continue on to these next to be this is the 1st large skirmish these 1st 2 and then that field will continue to whittle down thing you said there is so revealing and i think all these candidates reveal one thing and it's that the democratic party is fractured sadly we were talking offline and we talk about how republicans are unified they coalesce they get in line and that's what they did around donald trump and so there were many people who live 2 or establishment republicans who now have such loyalty to this president they laugh when it came down that go and that's the later so it's no surprise of course the other side would think that this is anyone's game and that anyone has a shot i mean the most recent entry is joe sestak a former congressman and he was missing already. actually use that it's been one of

the most really. things for me i've been talking to a lot of people who want to vote democrat over the in the 2020 alexion and a couple of them said to me there were just too many some of these people need to get out the way start by saying stop trying to raise the profile let's get this down to a sensible number and let's get on with it i think everyone of the panel nailed it so far you know the democratic party's going through an ideological crisis between the people the progressive left and the more moderate people but i think ultimately they just want to get this down from 20 something to just a few but allen at the start really didn't you know if you look at someone like julian castro he has only ingredients to be an obama type candidate young by nick he's just dropped off the radar the last couple of years so i think for those less and then candidates it's all going to be about getting the men. somebody worked out over the 1st 2 debates each candidate will get about 7 minutes in that 7
1:33 pm
minutes they really need to come up with those one liners to make themselves stand out from the more well known candidates it's a big challenge not just for them but i think also the democrats waiting for the process it's commissions are no that's what we're seeing in the community many come serina here on twitter says i think if we can avoid the mistakes of 2016 namely the extreme mudslinging and this isness should come out of the primaries with a solid candidate that stands a real chance of winning the white house they've hashtags come alive here as they are 2020 so you know where serena stands but brad this is just viciousness and mudslinging are we already seeing that i don't think so i mean what i think the big difference between the real drag out fight between hillary clinton and bernie sanders that bernie sanders is not a democrat right he really ran against the democratic party he ran against the democratic national committee and so it's very hard to unify the party when you
1:34 pm
have a candidate who is in many ways was trying to burn it down i mean he would say you try to reform it. but he was really railing against the system itself i think this feels very different there are still bernie sanders who still very much a viable candidate but every single one of these other candidates including elizabeth warren these are democrats right so i do think that even in the skirmishes that we've seen with center booker and senator biden there's a feeling of we are trying to your point. we are trying to come together we we realize that the number one priority for democratic primary voters is to not donald trump be reelected that is the number one but i do does it respectfully disagree with that i think bernie took the party more to the left and what you see today is a party that's sort of been remade in bernie's image they talk about these policies that are really more left of what we ever heard before bernie and that's what republicans seem entry point everything i'm hearing now from republicans that i work with i have a couple clients who are in the southern part of the united states and they love to

rail against socialism and they're railing against all of these candidates you see here because they think all of these folks want to take us toward socialism and so that is going to be the game plan for republicans as these folks try to show that they want the oval next year isn't going to be socialism kills we don't want that vote for trump again i honestly think at this point when people are looking to this election it may come down to the.
