so when my client calls up and said that a british flag tanker hit my fishing ship in the strait of hormuz and i have a maritime liane and i want you to arrest that ship there can be an arrest in it's a civil process it normally doesn't occur with the iranian revolutionary guard launching helicopters and small boats it's usually an order from a judge in an it bad time court and it's brought up by a civil officer the marshal or in some other country for sure right now in a case in a case like the one we saw or involving stana piro. that would have been done in a telephone call between the lawyers or representatives of the fish boat and in the tanker and they would have said hey my fish broke and he had your tankers fault you owe me a 20000 dollars 100000 dollars a $1000000.00 the owner of the tank would say i don't want my ship arrested anywhere but particularly here and now my insurance will be happy to give to you

al-jazeera provides. israeli forces begin to demolish palestinian homes close to the separation wall in the occupied west bank after a long legal battle to stop them. hello welcome to al-jazeera live from. coming up dozens of people are killed in airstrikes in the past 24 hours in syria's province as iran's flag is raised on the seas british soldier and britain's prime minister calls an emergency meeting to decide the next move. and gangs of men a time. protesters in a hong kong train station after another mass protests mockers the march and environments.
5:05 pm
israeli forces have started to demolish around $100.00 palestinian homes that have been built close to the separation barrier in the occupied west bank the residents of what miss 47 year legal battle to overturn what is a military eviction order but israel's high court dismissed their case allowing for the demolitions and that's despite the land being under the administration of the palestinian authority live now to rob matheson who's there at what the hour homeless in the occupied west bank and this whole process started in the early hours of the morning rob. that's right about 715 local time we started hearing loud banging noises coming from the building next door that was a very large. digger that was crawling and that was essentially tearing the roof
5:06 pm
off the house next door that house used to be home up until this morning to 2 families the father of one of those families who had to sit in the street and watch as his home was essentially being called to pieces let me just give you an indication also of what else has been going on this morning that paint house that you can see just behind me that was complete iran today and it was the home to a family with a mother and father 6 children and 2 grandparents and the airlie hours of this morning just after we arrived while it was still dark israeli security forces moved into the house and removed the family we heard screaming and we heard shouting they took the family away then moved. their cars out of the way and then we saw work teams going in and starting to pick up the furniture and large pieces of furniture and move them out as well but one can only imagine that there is still stuff that's left in the what is in the rubble that has just taken about 2 hours for about 50 percent of that house to be destroyed now we are in east jerusalem let me show you
5:07 pm
cross the road back is the west bank and there's a house that was probably standing just up again about 2 hours ago that is now being called into rubble there this is all happening because as you mentioned a military really that was made about 8 years ago where which said that nothing could be constructed within about 250 meters all of the separation wall that the separation wall here in this neighborhood runs up the center of the road and you can see obviously how close these buildings have been built these buildings have been built since the ruling came into effect bought this whole neighborhood falls under the control of the administration control. of the palestinian authority are the people who built these houses that they were and had all the permits and all the authorizations to be able to go ahead and do this but no israeli authorities are saying that does not stand in the face of the military really that was made 8
5:08 pm
years ago and these houses have to come down. and rob do we have any idea as to how many people are losing their homes and what will happen to them now. well we understand that so there are 3 families the 3 that i mentioned that are directly affected by this. we spoke to one of the families last week my colleague bernard smith interviewed them the people who lived in the pink house and they said they had no idea where they were going to go they were trying to rely on the goodwill of friends and other members of the family but if they have aides you know maybe 10 members of the family it's very difficult to find somebody that's going to hire those all of them so that they actually have no idea of going to go the other families here as well are in a very similar position the numbers of people affected however do vary depending on who you talk to but one of the interesting thing is although we're only talking
5:09 pm
about maybe 17 people in terms of the families who have been occupying some of these properties there are it's estimated 350 people who have invested money in these properties to get them off the ground by the lines and to start building them that money is no go on and they can't get it back there's no sense no suggestion that they're going to be is going to be any compensation from the israeli authorities because as a measure for israeli authorities determined that these properties were built illegally and do should not be in contravention of the military rule which is there for security reasons but not only that there is a sting in the tail for the people who own these properties because they are also going to have to pay for the demolition that's being carried out by the contract is and by the israeli military because they didn't do the demolition of themselves and one final thing we know that the palestine liberation organization has been
5:10 pm
speaking about this this morning it's describing these demolitions as a war crime and it's calling for a meeting of the u.n. security council to discuss these demolitions because one thing that the palestinian authority is very concerned about. is that this isn't setting a precedent that israeli authorities to be able to use this military law to clear more palestinian properties away from sections alongside the separation barrier rob matheson live in the occupied west bank actually rob is talking to us live from east jerusalem that overlooking the occupied west bank thank you very much for that . in the past 24 hours in syria is in the northwest of the country have killed and wounded dozens of people now this is footage the proportions show the aftermath of the attacks it leaves the last major rebel stronghold in syria let's go live to the harder our correspondent who's monitoring events in syria from neighboring lebanon
5:11 pm
i guess the 1st question has to be how many of these civilians given how many civilians are in need. well it's civilians who are being killed like you mentioned in the past 24 hours yesterday the death toll was 18 civilians among them 9 children as well as a white helmet the volunteer rescue worker who arrives at the scene only to die in another airstrike a double top airstrike as they become known this morning noman that is a town in southern it is controlled by the opposition but it's not rebel positions that are being hit it's not rebel checkpoints but crowded market places and this has been happening now for the past few weeks since the russian backed syrian government offensive began in late april almost 700 people have been killed in recent weeks and this is really kilometers away from the frontline but this is what the syrian government has been doing they target civilian neighborhoods civilian infrastructure in order to force the rebels to surrender but the rebels are not
5:12 pm
surrendering in fact what they're doing is putting up a fight and holding ground not allowing the government to found on the front lines kilometers away like i mentioned from no man there is supposed to be a ceasefire in place ceasefire that was guaranteed by turkey and russia last year that collapsed a few weeks ago these 2 countries who should be working together in syria are otherwise engaged in a proxy war on the ground and that's why we see more and more airstrikes on a daily basis with civilians dying on a daily basis they know how to live in beirut thank you. the british prime minister trees amaze you to hold an emergency me. on iran's seizure of an oil tanker in the strait of hormuz the government is reported to be considering sanctions as part of its response to the crisis the iranian flag is now flying on the captured vessel the center imperio as it remains anchored at the iranian port of bandar boss is being seen as retaliation for the seizure of an iranian tanker in the british

territory of gibraltar iran's intelligence minister has said that 17 people accused of spying for the u.s. central intelligence agency the cia has been arrested let's go live now to our correspondent in tehran doors. door so what more do we know. well there was a briefing held this morning and the head of the anti espionage unit of the intelligence ministry announced that 17 iranian nationals have been arrested and their sentences have been issued and some of them will be sentenced to death apparently this spy network was uncovered recently inside the country and includes the promise by the cia that these iranians would work for them and gather information and carry out intelligence and technical operations inside iran in the in exchange they will receive visas or extend the visas that they would have had
5:14 pm
from the american government this is one of the things the intelligent ministry ministry said they also said that the individuals were recruited by the cia to work in certain vital and sensitive areas of the governments that includes the country's nuclear program as well as the cyber units inside different ministries the ministry said that these events have been documented they release a d.v.d. video and they've also put together a documentary which will be airing on say t.v. later today in which it shows the extent to which these people went to to try and exchange information with their operatives cia operatives outside the country and the iranians have said that this has been the largest uncovering of a network of spies inside the country for many many years the last time something that this scale happened was in 2013 when a number of agents working for the. the israeli agency mossad were uncovered in
5:15 pm
iran so the intelligent ministries saying this is the huge victory for them they've uncovered these people and what they were trying to do but they've managed to put an end to it for now those who live in toronto. the news is coming in from the somali capital mogadishu of a loud explosion this within the last half hour also reports are coming in of a suspected car bomb close to a security checkpoint at the city's international airport where this is also talking about. a breaking news story will bring you more detail on that situation as soon as the details become clear so to come here at al-jazeera fear of what the philippine president will do next nationwide protests as he delivers his state of the nation speech. think he's a bit untrustworthy for you bothered by boris how britain's like the new prime minister is causing a split in scotland. hello

committed by state for says loom large over the consciousness of the general public despite the president's attempt to sweep it under the rug today. now hong kong leader kerry lime has strongly condemned the violence following a mass rally against the government police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse crowds outside the office of jane's representative to the city she criticized people who threw eggs at the building and vandalized the national emblem . and later in the night dozens of mosque men attacked people who were returning home from demonstrations it is on social media show a group of men in white t. shirts owned with us on storming a metro station in a district on the outskirts of hong kong opposition politicians have blamed us to touch all suspected gang members and say they'll be an investigation. we
5:22 pm
absolutely do not condone that sort of violent acts and i let me made this clear again violence is not a solution to any problem or violence will only breed more violence and at the end of the day the whole of hong kong and the people will suffer as a result of the laws of law and order in hong kong right let's go live and sarah clarke our correspondent there in hong kong and sara it's quite clear isn't it that these mass protests that have been growing in number every weekend for the past 7 weeks or so are really solidifying and furthermore they're expanding in terms of their demands. they certainly are and last night's incident i should say monday sunday night's incident where we saw those barling clashes in an area called you known which is in the new territories this is a particularly different attack or confrontations on the grounds it wasn't in
5:23 pm
central hong kong which is where most of the rallies have been undertaken we had a peaceful march here on sunday and then those violent confrontations where you mentioned earlier more some of describing them as i again of an organized crime mob we often refer to them in hong kong as triads they were strategic and targeting those protesters who were coming back from that peaceful rally in the evening on that shrine in your long now 46 people were injured one is still in a critical critical condition kerry lamb and the police commissioner have just held a press conference they both said that they condemned those those violent confrontations they've also announced an investigation into that particular incident so i should say the sunday rally during the day was a peaceful rally the organizers said there about 500000 people at last night's confrontation where we saw about 100 people wearing white shirts masks confronting and targeting basing using steel rods beating those anti-government protests is
5:24 pm
that certainly an indication that these the violence in these protests is escalating right then for more courage to say particularly that news conference you gave alongside the police commissioner how do we think she's planning to deal with it because this is the order of the day you know there is violence almost every weekend in hong kong. it's been more than a month of protests generally they're held on the saturdays and sundays kerry lamb as i mentioned said there will be an investigation to this but we've had a number of press conferences today between the pro-democracy lawmakers have described last night or sunday nights attacks in your long as an act of terror they described it as watch terror simply because the more the gangsters as have been described wearing white shirts never been accused of that more of trying to silence and shock those hong kong people who are taking part in these rallies we've also heard from the probation groups some of being accused of actually colluding or coinciding or cooperating with that mob and of course there's
5:25 pm
a lot of declined any involvement with those violent confrontations we saw in your long in the new territories on sunday night so thank you very much for that updating us with the very latest from hong kong. of the u.k. just days away from having a new leader and it's almost certainly going to be boris johnson but he is a highly divisive figure and his most difficult u.k. audience is probably in scotland but even conservative voters fear his plan for bret's it will destroy the union andrew symonds reports from edinburgh. but simply most of scotland thinks the conservative leadership contest is a catastrophe in the making even scottish party leaders believe boris johnson as prime minister is going to cause deep divisions between england and scotland a few hours here in edinburgh and we can't find one scott with a good word to say about. this month's unbelievable.
5:26 pm
privilege the food. and some of the reasons why. people i am very disappointed in the whole setup of the conservative party which is a great party because i think it was a very good party. thank you. and never sleep seriously. opinion polls break the hostility down like this that most scots don't trust boris johnson with the economy that he won't do any good for bringing people together over breaks it and he'll put party before country furthermore his policies will lead to independence for scotland on one hand we could be dragged out of europe the scottish national party sees this as a 2nd opportunity for a referendum on scottish independence the 1st vote in 2014 decided no to breaking
5:27 pm
away from the u.k. but now opinion polls say that's changed a 5th of no vote last time around are saying they would switch to yes purely because of course johnson being the prime minister to find that level of movement from no to guests is completely unprecedented in terms of what we found my 1st priority is obviously the union but is it speaking here in perth on the campaign trail johnson failed to convince most of the scottish party while officially they sound supportive it takes the focus on the union it takes the box on the economy it takes you know protecting farmers. is takes the promise of leaving you do. something about that makes people want to follow. those words won't convince most of the rest of scotland people are still a long accusations against johnson despite his denials what would so walter scott
5:28 pm
make of it did johnson lie in the back seat campaign and get economical with the truth elsewhere to scots may well quote just one line from that famous writer oh what a tangled web we weave when 1st we practice to deceive andrew simmons. at ypres. firefighters in portugal have managed to bring 2 wildfires under control but one is still burning dangerously close to villages more than $800.00 firefighters are battling the flames in castillo blanco about 200 kilometers north of the capital lisbon police are investigating what caused the fires with one man arrested on to special suspicion of arson at least 30 people have been injured and several regions remain on high alert. puerto rico's in battle governor has announced he won't be receiving reelection next year but is refusing to give in to protests is who are calling for his immediate resignation in
5:29 pm
a video posted on facebook ricardo says he'll also step down as leader of his party follows days of demonstrations after leaked messages showing him and his advisors insulting women the disabled and victims of hurricane maria gabriel elizondo has more from the capital san juan. another night of loud protests year old san juan right outside the governor's mansion people calling for the governor ricardo rosario to step down from the governor's message late sunday it was posted on facebook was unexpected and the protesters here did not want to hear another apology or another excuse they wanted to hear that the governor would step down instead this is what he had to say. i am announcing that i will not seek reelection as governor next year i'm also resigning as president of the new progressive party lastly i have to respect the constitutional order and i welcome the process begun
5:30 pm
by the legislative assembly which i will confront truthfully and in a responsible manner. the governor was hoping that his message that he will not run for reelection in november of next year would help cold people on the streets and stop the protests instead it appears to be having the opposite effect it's making to continue fighting. you're not satisfied with this message now not satisfied i. think. 3 times in any great amount of the mass protests is it is making people angry there is now a clear line drawn in the sand between a governor on one side refuses to step down and people that demanded on monday huge protests are planned her whole over puerto rico but primarily here in the capital san juan organizers say they're wanting to get hundreds of thousands of people out
