reaction obviously to the market that the trade war that's been going on between these 2 countries now we know that there are supposed to be further negotiations next month in september but no details have been released about that so there's concern just where the next step is where this trade war goes from here added concern to that we have a global slowdown in the economy so there's concern that this trade war could also prompt a global recession iran says that its deployed its most sophisticated warship to provide security for its vessels in the gulf of aden one of the busiest shipping routes in the world iran has also announced that it has sold the oil that was on board a tanker that was detained by british forces in gibraltar but teheran hasn't said who's bought the crude c.z. of the address and burial one led to a standoff between iran and the u.k. let's go now to. just serious as a big can pull it all together for us how significant is this us that.

well this could be a routine naval deployment we know that iran says that this is a new destroyer it has new features it's faster but but it's also iranian made but the significance is that we know that there's a military buildup in the region the united states has put together this naval coalition that they say is to protect the freedom of navigation through the strait of her most in the gulf on the other side of the arabian peninsula so far the united kingdom. have joined that coalition but the deployment of this destroyer also raise speculation to the route of the adrian diary and now they speculation that it will go down the suez canal and then be escorted to iran now we know that united states. requested to seize the oil tank and iran warned against that that they shouldn't do that in international waters and warned of serious consequences so there could be a reason for that deployment but also iran has said that the oil has been sold and the owner of that will decide where the tanker goes next so there's

a few routes it could go down the suez canal it could go back towards gibraltar and take that long route around africa back to iran but also it could go through the black's sea and in the caspian sea and dock in the north of iran but right now we just don't know we know that the u.s. 5th fleet is in the region we know that the united kingdom has 2 warships in the region and there is an increase of tensions and of course iran still has that british flag tanker that it seized in the strait of hormuz and the fear is that with this increased military deployment in the region a miscalculation could lead to a conflict but right now we don't know where it's headed it's all very secretive it's all very hush hush and the idea that the owner of the oil will decide where it goes next is keeping people guessing said many thanks did. reporting live from. this is the new. program sued by the state oklahoma is taking on a pharmaceutical giant accused of creating the u.s.

a series of drone strikes in iraq targeting groups backed by iran paramilitary groups that the government calls popular popular mobilization forces so israel is believed now to be operating against iran and iran backed groups in 3 countries in the region syria and iraq and clearly this is a sharp escalation so far iran and its allies have not retaliated they are now threatening retaliation the words of the hezbollah leader hassan nasrallah were quite strong saying that these drone attacks will not be left. addressed and we can't allow israel to continue violating lebanese airspace so a sharp escalation if those retaliation if the if those groups start to retaliate then the situation could spiral out of control sudan's new prime minister has appealed for international support as the country begins its next steps towards democracy. says that his government wants an end to sanctions and what he called sudan's pariah status there cami collapsed under former president omar al bashir

with losing my family and my homeland each time we say we'll stand up for something that breaks us our hearts either in turkey or in europe up to have it once a better life for his family and i can share that in that i'm living witness of assad's crimes i want to tell the world. with the turkish border to the north sealed however the displaced in northern syria have nowhere else to go as the fighting intensifies most of these vehicles carry syrian state from the south of at the border in august the number on the move has reached at least $70000.00 the influx causes a huge traffic jam in the old overloaded city of it and it takes hours to move just a short distance especially in the at the refugee camp. every day there are more of these makeshift shelters under all of trees and not close to the turkish border. having been displaced several times to have us family from hama only arrived today

armature he says the government failed to protect against hate crimes and allowed mistreatment by more enforcements and this year he joins us now live from sri lanka's capital colombo good to have you with us. just summarize for us if you could your main concerns about what you've seen and heard in sri lanka. good afternoon my main concerns have been the persistent failure by the police and other parties to protect communities exposed to hate crimes and also the failure it appears to to to hold to to hold to hold accountable those who perpetrated these crimes and the growing divide in the country based on long term policies of educational segregation that have led to a committed to a community that can be seen repeated ised in many ways the predications of organized targeting of some communities in sri lanka did you see any evidence or
7:15 pm
find any evidence of that. well i visited many of the places that were the targets of such attacks and spoke to many of those who were targeted and there's a pattern in many of them talk about what they believe to be a pre-planned pretty good premeditated attack by design that seem to that seem to sort of focus on these communities so the sense of the people is that you know they are been subjected to attacks by by design and this is a real force but the fact that they have been many many such episodes in the recent past some of the links to incitement to violence and without much opposition from key political leaders and also without much resistance from the days when such attacks have taken place now having said that of course the police say that they had been reacting as far as possible to take into account those who have been engaged in these activities and that they have been able to move in some cases but
7:16 pm
for the people on the ground experience is that they can be facing such attacks for prolonged periods across several neighborhoods without much recourse to justice or protection how much of this is the fault of sri lanka's government does it need to do much more to control flashpoints to ease tension. i think of situation requires a long term strategy and some immediate steps as well the immediate steps required include again enforcing the law on everybody equally ensuring that perpetrate doesn't buy that as a whole to hold to account but the long term they do with a discourse a narrative of inclusion rather than focusing on an ethanol or national identity they were the inclusive identities and ensure and ensure that all communities feel that you could be part of a part of sri lanka the same time also addressing intra community tensions which which seem to also play a part in some of these issues including where there is extremism in some
7:17 pm
communities and the failure for the state again to protect everybody in these communities as well so all the larger picture is political leaders being able to hold people to account when they're out there while the laws have policies that are inclusive and engage with other communities and make sure they build a future that is inclusive for everybody rather than focusing on ethno religious divide lines of division is the government listening to you confident that things will change in sri lanka and soon i think there is a recognition in many places that things ought to change and there have been some positive moves taken in the past one year including a parliamentary committee which has been examining the reasons for horse to the t.n. steps were taken and those who are the moves of food to beach seem to be in that i direction such as plans to revise the education system plans to address the most imagined divorce act and plans to develop. a strategy and other plans to
