of the same there are no immediate reports of any casualties israel has been on a state of high alert earlier the lebanese army said an israeli drone violated its air space and caused a fire on its side of the border in a correspondent in beirut monitoring local television in the lebanese capital she's getting quotes where she is saying that the lebanese military is now saying as well that a lebanese town is as we speak being targeted by the israeli military will stay with these live pictures and we'll talk to our middle east correspondent another one of our team covering the story for us harry forsett joins us live now on the ground there harry where are you give us a sense of what's going on. we're just north of the israeli community of beit hillel which is a small village in the upper galilee region of israel

a few tens of kilometers short of the northernmost point of israel where it touches the lebanese border that border runs south west of where we are and i v.m. is actually about 30 kilometers southwest of where we are now according to the israeli military what happened was that there were several antitank missiles fired from the lebanese side of the border targeting israeli military base and israeli military vehicles the israeli military is saying that hits were taken in that attack although it's not specifying if there are you know any casualties so far it said it has responded to the sources of that fire and is striking other targets inside lebanon it's also saying according to israeli media reports that the entire border between lebanon and israel which has on the leader of hezbollah warned could be ripe for attack at any point along that border in his speech on

saturday night they're saying that the entirety of that border a 4 kilometer band back from it people are being told to keep inside and open the bomb shelters in that area to get the feeling area that israel was ready for this given that we haven't heard from her son nasrallah on hezbollah t.v. for a couple of weeks then he pops up twice in quick succession of a period of what 7 or 8 days. well i think israel's been ready since last sunday when he made that speech saying that israel had breached the terms of the the rules of engagement have been in place since the last israel lebanon war in 2006 he said that by target seeing southern beirut hezbollah stronghold with explosive drones which is what he says israel did israel has yet to to make any comments on the whether or not it was responsible for that last sun early early hours of sunday morning

a week ago from very shortly after that he said that hezbollah would strike back and put the israeli army on notice and they've taken that extremely seriously they say they have been fortifying their positions and preparing just yesterday we saw reports of pretty large columns of israeli armored vehicles being brought up here so the upper reaches of the galilee region and so certainly israel was ready and it put on a postponement a military exercise which was due to happen later in the week. not from september so i think it's not clear whether israel was aware just how approximate this attack would be but there was certainly ready for something and indeed earlier on sunday there was fire coming the other way the israeli military has confirmed it was engaged in a military action that coming after reports from al menar t.v. links to hezbollah in lebanon that an israeli drone had dropped incendiary material

on news on the lebanese side of the border setting fires to that area it said that local people put those fires out and then there was subsequently artillery fired from the israeli from the israeli side towards lebanon as i say the israeli military only said that it carried out a military action of some kind and that 5 had resulted from it we can hear and see at least one helicopter in the skies above us. it does seem that that's the situation is still unfolding and this is significant because not least because on the one hand it feels like it's literally quite a combustible situation but on the other hand as well this is the 1st time since that conflict back in 2006 that you're talking about that the that israel has tagged the the lebanese states as being involved in this it's not just hezbollah it's saying lebanon on the country. that's

right it made that very clear in the press release that it put outs in extremely. extremely highly produced video formats on thursday when it accused hezbollah and iran of conspiring together to bring components of precision guided missile equipment in to lebanese territory by air by land and by sea it said that members of the iranian revolutionary guards could force i were inside lebanon overseeing this program and this is something that house on the stroller denied last night by the way saying that there were no such missile factories inside lebanese territory but israel went all out to try to convince the world and to put hezbollah and iran on notice as far as it was concerned it knew what had been going on and had the names of those involved it it had graphics and

southern lebanon are coming under fire it's so early to simper whether or not. there are casualties where the shells are landing but this is clearly israel responding to an operation that has been carried out in plain by what are you that we. have acknowledged that has carried this operation saying that multiple hit an army base another scene has been hit multiple times in the israeli border town of the so this is what many have been waiting for many 11 on bracing themselves what kind of earth bound will have. to do in retaliation for what is an israeli armed drone attack on the southern suburbs of beirut its own home in the beirut. people are quite concerned whether or not this flare up will be contained in the next few hours or whether it will.

southern suburbs of beirut strongholds could this have anything to do with perhaps a change of the political dynamics in israel well this is what hezbollah and officials close to has the belief that nothing yahoo this is all part of his election campaign and that in their words he is just making up excuses to justify an attack against lebanon excuses like hezbollah is is producing their own precision guided missiles a lesson on that they are they have factories in lebanon which and they're being helped by the iranians allegations that has been lost categorically denies just last night not from the secretary general of hezbollah said that we already have position guided missiles and we have enough of them. so they believe that in one way or or another domestic politics in israel is that clay here but but at the same

time we cannot disassociate what is happening to the tensions across the region because what we saw last week was israel's carrying out a much more aggressive strategy against iran it wants to weaken if iran's influence across the region for years it has been targeting what it says are iranian targets and iranian ally targets in syria but last week it expanded the scope of attacks it does claim responsibility for series of mysterious attacks in iraq are getting iranian backed paramilitary group and it didn't claim responsibility for the drone attacks in beirut southern suburbs but it is believed to be responsible as well expanding the scope of the populations and against iran in the region has on the stroller as well the secretary general saying enough is enough if we don't stop.
