is massive but we know that some of the the cruise ship operators for example have donated thousands of bottles of water but there is there is more that needs to be done and there's it almost seems as though there is a collective cry for help by the bahamian people for the international community to do more to continue to provide assistance because this crisis really is far from over ok men who are up a lot thank you for giving us that update so that's the situation in freeport meanwhile hurricane dorian has weakened but it's still bringing flooding to the u.s. state of north carolina the storm now a category one is over the atlantic ocean but coastal areas do remain on alert as it makes its way up the east coast at least 4 people have been killed in the u.s. and more than 200000 people are without electricity dorian is expected to reach nova scotia canada late on saturday and gallacher is in charleston south carolina with an updates. well hurricane during has finally moved off the u.s.

do not wear that those who are given members of my by my party is irrelevant to britain. by now opposition was growing despite murder and many people asian many zimbabwe seemed ready to throw mugabe out they had a new hero morgan chang right who said robert mugabe's earlier cheve man's will always be overshadowed by the years of oppression. do we portray him as the great liberator or do we portray him as somebody who has betrayed the liberation that he fought for. i think the little prevail the 2 rivals ended up in government together although mugabe made sure he kept the real power and chunky violator returned to a position where he would eventually die without being is constantly sharing how hypocritical the west is and africa loves that and for that reason and i think he will be judged alternately as being

8:26 am
the latest that we know is that india got so close to landing on the moon with their victim letter and making history aiming for the 1st landing near the south pole of the moon. everything seemed to be going really really well until the final moments they got about 2 kilometer kilometers above the lunar surface when they lost contact with their probe they don't know if it crashed or maybe redirected itself to a secondary landing site they're hoping to figure that out in the next few hours and days but it was you know definitely really tense in india's mission control busy and a big disappointment after a mission that's gone really really well over the last month to reach them and give us a sense of some of the challenges faced. in this particular operation when landing on the moon. yeah you know during it's really difficult to land anything on the moon over like out of 30 missions maybe 1000 of them or so have
8:27 am
been have been successful you know it's easy to crash on the moon we saw israel crash a probe they were hoping to land earlier this year india was hoping to be the 4th country to soft land busy a spacecraft and then deploy a rover on the surface of the moon you have to you have to reach the moon launch on a rocket and that's a really critical phase you have to enter orbit around the moon they did that. last month as well and then you have to make sure that you you separate your spacecraft from its orbiter or or carrier vehicle india did that earlier this week and rendezvous you have to know how high you are how fast you're moving slow down so that when you reach the surface you're not moving very quickly but you can touch the surface very gently indeed it was really all on board so far for that until that last minute when they lost contact with the with the probe this is their 1st attempt to land a spacecraft on the surface this is their 2nd mission to the moon and so far you know they still have that orbiter in orbit for at least the next year so that part
8:28 am
of the mission is going very well this was kind of in extra reach for india and we're hoping they'll get some better news later on how likely is it that that we do get better news and that communication can be reestablished. well it seems very grim india did shut down their mission control kind of way there are folks still listening for signals but not having any signal from the spacecraft nasa deep space network with antennas around the world also lost contact they weren't hearing anything from the spacecraft that's not the best of signs it is possible that the spacecraft might have been able to lend itself and just lost contact you know they have their orbiter in orbit around the moon nasa has an orbiter as well you can be sure that they'll be looking for that but not hearing from the spacecraft during that critical period isn't a great sign india has resolved to keep at it to to keep listening and to keep

shooting for the moon they do have plans for a 3rd mission later on all right we'll leave it there we thank you very much tariq malik for speaking to us from new york jury ends in south africa are being offered free flights home after violent and team leader in triumph in johannesburg this week nigeria says it will seek compensation from south africa for attack on its citizens south african government has closed its missions in nigeria after a wave of retaliatory attacks. from the nigerian capital abuja. reactions from such an african countries have been swift and angry regarding the events in south africa for example reports from zambia said rioters attacked south african businesses or south african owned businesses in that country in nigeria police have arrested dozens of people in the commercial capital lagos for rioting and also targeting south african businesses in that city similarly there been some street protests in lagos. at
