including that something was imminent was when the u.s. president said something very big has just happened that was about 9 30 pm local time on saturday evening here in washington that was quickly followed about 90 minutes later by a statement from hogan gidley the deputy press secretary for the white house announcing this imminent announcement that we are now waiting scheduled to take place at any moment later stan this will take place from the diplomatic room of the white house and we do know that the u.s. president has been eager to change the news cycle and that may have something to do with the timing of this announcement because i have to tell you it's pretty unusual to have a formal announcement at 9 am local time on a sunday morning in washington and what is coinciding with this time of the sunday chat shows and the headlines for the president this week have not been good this is a nation that is is focused on the impeachment inquiry of u.s. president donald trump so this is an opportunity for u.s. president to change that news cycle we know that he is often eager to deliver big

announcements and this would certainly be one of them if there is the confirmation that there has been a successful strike killing the ice a leader so there are a number of reasons not only why the president might be trying to just counter the criticisms of the impeachment inquiry but also he's gotten a lot of pushback when it comes to criticism about his recent announcement of the withdrawal of u.s. troops from syria the big bipartisan criticism on capitol hill richelle has been that this would lead to a resurgence of eisel so you can see why the u.s. president might might be trying to counter those criticisms and can really exactly that he may be trying to counter those criticisms but what an announcement like this perhaps could mormon spotlight on the trumpet an assertion of what their policy actually actually is in the middle east. certainly that is an ongoing criticism that's not going to go away particularly particularly among democrats who
