in villages i mean it's a real problem with that so the crime they say one last thing they said and that was to drive out one ethnic community. into operations because they'd seen that you gave what does that mean for the mob that they also think that in one incident he thought that he. didn't like that leaving they all talked about that so far and peter you kind of thought that this is the path that the someone had been convicted of think so slow going to the international criminal . people. that. the spanish now they were hoping for life imprisonment we talked to some people in need to reform of the victims and you can read you also went to another area here one job where where i mean people there are all of them saying that he could be the can't you get them and they all. both

a lot of property. you turi might be the focus of this case but you now have a town more than 800 kilometers south victims of a moscow a 150 people were killed in one day in 2006 have been falling court proceedings kinley they sent a gun to was one of the leaders of rebel fighters who attacked their villages he says to have been passing the in charge of the q one to killings almost everyone here in q one lost a loved one of those we talked to said. and the fighters he led to use them off protecting a rival rebel they also say they want justice. rebecca shows us has cause she says her husband and one year old son were killed in. what's happening with entire gonda should be a deterrent to all those who want to come and terrorize us in the villages those people destroyed all lives this part of the country has been embroiled in armed
1:06 pm
conflict for decades thousands of rebel groups control remote villages and towns campaign as one the government and regional bodies to deal with human rights abuses . we need a proper court here with proper investigators and justice system people want to have their day in court and looked at perpetrators and the i.c.c. is too far away and disconnected from victims in the villages. into a gun that is the 4th person to be convicted by the i.c.c. . turi sais he deserves to be in jail for life rebecca. is still waiting for justice. catherine what kind of reaction to this will generate in the region. well this is really cool guzzled going to be climbing people you need to really be talking to the faculty be happy that justice has finally been believe that they did not think we could put these in fact
1:07 pm
a long time but it's also a disappointment for those areas of the people who suffered for so long some of them one thing their loved ones what killed some of these people were killed by a break we know that they're busy also somewhat want reparations and i mean just a few of us thought it was more contact than the r.c. so we have many rebel movements on many rebel groups that are controlling remote villages in this area for many years even when you got that i was around that if they even need both got the gun that had been going to he'll have a lot of security problems if the r.c. and the old one got a draft you talked to that a human rights complaint i would think they want a special order to address some of the conflicts that are happening here some of the human rights abuses as well so people on the one hand happy to just had been made that perhaps it will serve as a deterrent to others but also saying that more needs to be done to provide a lack of peace here in egypt and yasi catherine thanks very much. to

another developing story malaysia's prime minister says he will send a detained cambodian opposition leader to a 3rd country which is yet to be determined a coup up trying to return home to protest against the prime minister when sen but was taken into detention in malaysia she's the vice president of the banned cambodian national rescue party secure and her party leader sam rainsy trying to return to cambodia from self-imposed exile sam rainsy is leader of the national rescue party he joins us now live on the phone from paris mr rainsy where are you and when do you start your journey. are you the accurate is my we are just caught. and i am boarding a plane from paris to bangkok i will be in bangkok tomorrow morning early devolving and then hopefully i will have to.
1:09 pm
say hopefully what do you do when or if they don't let you in one at the airport in atlanta. or i can put it to the cambodian border i will ensure the thai authorities know that i will not create any problem for them so that they can they can allow me to go peacefully discreetly to the cambodian border and once in cambodia then we will be among those and we will watch toll would think it will be a peaceful march but it will also create people power ok we'll get to we will march in a 2nd if we if we can but what if when sen delivers on his pledge and deploys
1:10 pm
quotes thousands of troops to the cambodian border those troops actually they want a peaceful change in the book at the change because they are 'd with the pitch area and this regime i think they will return. they will protect the people and they will turn against the dictator and when you say we will march who are we talking about who's we. rhes. opposition leaders who will be joining to buy thousands if not haven't hundreds of thousands of. people in counting. my crimes in thailand. and then the charming by cambodian
1:11 pm
from inside the country though we all will be part of the popular 5 uprising when you talk about populist uprising is there a chance mr rains you know even again. because yesterday the prime minister of thailand said you will not be allowed in i will try 9 our possible way. to go back to my country it is not my right but it is my choice to do so you have already been found guilty of criminal defamation if you actually get into the country do you have to deal with that or is that something you would just want to be got rid of. 0 politically motivated them the court in cambodia is a kangaroo court when the book received
1:12 pm
a pre-paid. from the court and then justice to the kind of people who have said being the victims of these a dictatorship far the case you're also on record as saying that you want to create and i quote people power what does that mean it sounds quite vague no people power is something there need concrete very realistic it is what the c.d.p. no people are at she's in 1986 when they peacefully. brought 8 on the dictatorship of. even having a political fights with one sends the best part of 3 decades now mr raines e what do you have that he doesn't he sees the most favorable circumstances couldn't china has sold to cambodia 6 chinese
1:13 pm
cambodia has become a chinese colony the example of the people does not accept and the community look at the nations over the word the word to pawn cambodia the cambodian people to stop chinese cologne on loading because it is a danger not only from cambodia but on the whole southeast asia and for the whole of the word if you see. china penetrate. there were still we have to protect our values against the. chinese model of society that we reject one last question mr rains it we broadcast in cambodia on the off chance when sens watching this program now and listening to your words what's your message to him i want to say one sign you are
1:14 pm
there is how you must step down we lead you a peaceful way out if we out but stop stop treating because young people are this strong in cambodia stop sending attempt to attack not sam rainsy thank you very much. ok let's get more now on the detention and probable deportation of mr raines the skully good move so cool scott title with the details. the deputy leader of the main opposition party in cambodia most was detained by immigration officials in malaysia now this comes just after she attempted to hold a press conference in jakarta the capital of indonesia but was shouted down by cambodia as a basket or to that country now this comes around the announcement weeks ago by sam
1:15 pm
rainsy who's the founder of that now banned opposition party in cambodia he was going to return to cambodia this weekend with hundreds of supporters he said he was going to do that overland through thailand here but the prime minister here in thailand says he's not going to allow that to happen send is the current prime minister in cambodia he says the moment that sam rainsy or any of his supporters cross into cambodia they'll be arrested immediately he's even put troops at the border between thailand and cambodia. no human rights watch has issued a statement saying the government should commit exiled opposition leaders to return to cambodia and fully freely resume political activity is joining us on skype from bangkok is phil robertson deputy asia director at human rights watch phil robertson welcome back to the news hour why is this happening now well the opposition political party has set a date of return as the 9th of november that is the independence day of cambodia it's also
1:16 pm
a day before the biggest holiday in cambodia. the water holidays and so this is an opportune time for the c.n.r. either try to return they've been planning this for several months now and there are probably probably get that happen ok the following through it's trying to get a to happen sam rainsy he's not a stupid man he's a very well educated intelligent guy why is he doing this i mean realistically the chances of the big probability is he's not even gonna get across the border. well i mean i think that he believes very strongly in the restoration of democracy and human rights along the lines of the initial paris peace accords you know back in the early 1990 s. with all players signed. you know we have seen a lection that was far from 3 unfair and in july 28th. it has become a single party dictatorship and cambodia we've seen the eradication of independent
1:17 pm
media we have seen now well over 80 political prisoners in cambodia in prisons so the situation is quite grave and i guess he's decided that this is now the time to step back into the fray and tried to demand that the cambodian government. listen to him than to the exiled opposition that compromise was too much of a between other countries thailand and malaysia kind of tooting in the other direction seemingly coming out and supportive of tembo deal. well thailand is quite clearly said that ramsey will not be allowed to enter an island that has been a consistent message all along. ransey had been within the last several months in malaysia and in indonesia so you know i think there's a different perspective from the different os young countries cambodia is trying to
1:18 pm
bully all its neighbors to keep c.n.r. he exiled out or arrest them and send them back we don't think that anybody can actually do cambodia dirty work to arrest people and actually deliver them to one fan but our view is that c.n. r.-p. officials like all cambodians have the right to return to their country this is actually an international human rights guarantee that the right to leave your country and also to return to it and under the international covenant on civil rights that cambodia's ratified they should allow brand c. and his compatriots to fly directly into phnom penh and if they're arrested at that time well that's the next step in the situation here but they should not be barred from being able to return to that country is there a chance here however that when it comes to people and what happens to people mr rains is actually only going to create a flashpoint he's going to get to the border he's talking about marching to the
1:19 pm
capital peacefully he's not going to be allowed to cross the border and if there are hundreds of thousands of troops on the other side of the border they might have orders to react aggressively. well we'll see whether any of this scenario that sam ramsey and his colleagues have sketched out actually come to pass as i mentioned i think it's highly unlikely that it's going to allow them into the country much less let them go from the airport to the border overland to. sort of organize migrant workers to mark across the border we have seen actually on the cambodian border that there are posters everywhere with photos and the names of these cambodian exiles saying that they will be arrested if they are brought across we've heard information about consultations going on between the thais and the cambodians about the situation so our assessment right now is that it's probably highly unlikely that they're going to be able to get into thailand much less get to
1:20 pm
the border ok phil robertson good to talk to as ever many thanks. lot more still to come for you here on the news hour including 2 former employees of twitter a charged in the u.s. for hacking the accounts of people critical of saudi arabia plus threats to rape. then there are 5. and a boy female m.p.'s in the u.k. so they face intimidation and threats of violence in the sports news these celebrations continue for the springboks as they parade the rugby world cup around south africa. iran has resumed enriching uranium at an underground facility the process of injecting uranium gas into centrifuges ford plant was observed by inspectors from the international atomic energy agency to iran's been scaling back its commitments
1:21 pm
under the 2015 nuclear deal after the us pulled out and re imposed sanctions and iran has cancelled the accreditation of a u.n. nuclear watchdog inspector one of the international atomic energy agency staff was briefly detained last week and her travel documents seized it's believed this is the 1st such incident since the nuclear deal was signed in 2015 live to tehran correspond door search of her research or so let's talk 1st about that. inspector within the choreography of how the relationship works between tehran geneva and the g 8 countries is that significant. yes certainly this is very important it's the 1st time since the 2015 nuclear deal was signed such an incident has occurred apparently this female employee of the i.a.e.a. is one of where about 150 inspectors that come and go in iran she was detained last
1:22 pm
week after a trying to enter the now tense nuclear facility upon inspection that the iranian authorities discovered what they're calling suspicious material that she was carrying with her into the facility and that is when she was detained and consequently her accreditation has been revoked and she is now in vienna this is part of a larger part that we see that iran is scaling back its commitment and the relationship that it has with the remaining signature henri's of the 2015 nuclear deals becoming more and more strained at this incident will certainly not help the matters now iran as we started the fordo nuclear facility this was supposed to be a research facility for the next few years and as of january 2016 it became one under the nuclear deal but iran's president has said that because the european signatories that are left in the nuclear deal are not upholding their end of the bargain iran is reducing its commitment and the act that the 4th step that they've
1:23 pm
taken as of wednesday is the most severe one that is the centrifuges that are up and running that forgo all this is because the united states withdrew from the nuclear deal last year and imposed a new series of sanctions on iran they rein in some said that this is not what they signed up for and until the european signatories that are left to uphold their end of the deal iran will continue to scale back its commitments to also thanks very much. well the top stories in europe for you are in the news a french police starting to dismantle migrant camps as part of a new crackdown in paris people have taken shelter from the rain beneath an underpass as the authorities begin to move them on the government says it wants to put limits on the number of undocumented immigrants but some see it as an attempt to win over voters from the far right many many always know unfortunately these large scale operations have taken place before every time we're told it won't happen again but we need proper processing procedures when people arrive in france in order for them to have their rights respected in camps like these about 20
1:24 pm
percent of people refugees who are here legally but have not been offered any kind of housing there are also homeless families. there are people living in tents in many cities across from several have been cleared before including what was known as the jungle in cali as well as the grand seas near dunkirk and one area normandy but hundreds of people often return to the same sites despite the squalid conditions. joins us from paris natasha just take us through what's happening today . and i'm standing airports in the chapel which is in northern have paris this is one of the main camp areas you might say in part because they're not official camps of course they're just people who come and set their tents up example nowhere else to go there a series of networks of roads and people have taken shelter underneath and earlier today around 6 o'clock in the morning about 600 police officers came here to clear
1:25 pm
about 1600 people that have been living here in the most appalling conditions and i can say that we were here on thursday talking to some of the migrants asylum seekers they were living here we spoke to a group of afghan men who said they've been here for one year and when you think of how awful it is i mean there's no sanitation there's no says very little help they're just really having to try and rely on the charity of passers by. by those that conditions particularly school as in the ones that you heard that the mare of paris talk about she said that this is a situation that has to end and she called for these camps to be made and that's what happened the migrants were put on buses they were then taken to shelters around the paris region but as you can maybe even see behind me there are still people here is some people who perhaps let somewhere else also like to coming back and realizing that many of their possessions their tens of simply being cleared away and they don't know what to do is the man we've just spoken to said he doesn't know who to ask for help he's come from sudan he was in libya he crossed the
1:26 pm
mediterranean sea and he said i've been here in france for 3 years i've been trying to apply for asylum but he called find a way to make that happen and 6 of dismantling these camps one day after these new measures were announced. well i think there's no doubt that the french government wants to show that it's very serious when it says that it wants to be a lot tougher when it comes to immigration and that is why so soon after the announcement by the french prime minister on wednesday we've seen this come here in paris which is become a bit of a symbol of these kinds of camps across france being cleared so far but i think there are many people who will just see this is something of a p.r. exercise by the french government because it has to be known in the camps like this a play is really read to me i mean i've been dozens cleared out is the past few years this camp itself has been cleared several times and what happens each time is that people get taken away on buses they get put in a shelter for
1:27 pm
a few nights they're supposed to be processed those who are here illegally are supposed to be deported but that doesn't always happen and those who have a right to a point to asylum are supposed to be given their rights and help to apply for asylum but rarely happens as well and what happens is people filter back into society and many of them end up back on the streets and again i spoke to a somali man who said he's been taken away by pass off or come to fact he rationed right here 3 times and he's ended up back on the streets again so it really does seem like a desperate situation natasha thanks very much. people in some of iraq's major cities are struggling with access to the internet after weeks of anti-government protests all of social media remains blocked crowds of protesters are still camped out in baghdad's tahrir square meanwhile the u.n. special representative has been meeting with the protesters after she was criticized over comments she made about the demonstrations well for more on this let's bring in correspondent sasha cohen am who's live for us in baghdad so no sasha the u.n. special representative just wrapping up that meeting with protestors how did it go
1:28 pm
do you think. well peter person u.n. special representative in iraq her name is and has a sharp as you mentioned she met with about 200 protesters and that meeting ended a short time ago she vowed to hold what she says is oppression against them and help end the bloodshed and also try to ensure that their demands reached political leaders but this meeting comes on the heels of a tweet of hers that sparked outrage among protesters she cited the disruption of major infrastructure in iraq as a grave concern she said that everyone needed to protect it and that it was passing billions of dollars in losses in iraq that struck many protesters as. for example in the oil rich province of basra protesters have been hosting operations at the port for days because they say that revenue is not trickling down to that the
1:29 pm
government of looting the money they say all they are getting is pollution or services and so is the internet social media is that all still. blocks it is still done. yeah i can tell you that there was a big sigh of relief among people here in baghdad few hours ago when it appears that the internet had been restored it's still a bit spotty we understand that the internet has also been restored in karbala and basra this by the way was attacked if it had been used earlier on in october when these protests began and there's no reason to believe that the government might block the internet if things get hectic as the weekend approaches a social media blackout has been in effect for weeks and it is possibly a lot of anger among protesters. each day since the protests began hider raw it has been working this stretch near tahrir square selling iraqi flags
1:30 pm
for less than a dollar each the teenager dropped out of school when he was 8 to help support his family he says typically he would stand on a main street in the capital all day selling water but with iraqis he tree out at fervor flags have become big business is what we want a new country better than this one room. he killed young men every time young people come to buy flags and go back they start shooting live ammunition suffa else serai is one of the nearly 280 protesters killed in iraq since october 1st protesters say they're fed up with corruption and a lack of jobs and they're demanding the government's resignation a surprise friends say a tear gas canister hit his head last week while he was trying to protect other protesters under attack on a nearby bridge and at that idea. it has affected us greatly he was an irreplaceable person because he was educated and had
1:31 pm
a strong impact on the street especially among young people the protesters have started a radio station and are publishing at this newspaper is on top after the automated rickshaws that are transporting the will. did medics and supplies in and out of top gear square with the internet blackout the last few days they've been forced offline and are now printing these old fashioned newspapers it's a way for iraq ease to create a document of their experiences. blocking the internet is a catastrophe it's equal to oppressing shooting and killing your thirties have totally isolated us from the world and start killing us a spokesman with the iraqi military says social media sites are showing killing and hatred that are poisoning the minds of youth almost daily men in tahrir start to tell us if they die during these protests at least they would have achieved
1:32 pm
something greater than the dead end existence they've been living. natasha good name they're reporting live from the iraqi capital baghdad in a few moments we'll have the very latest weather for you with kevin but also still ahead here on the news out ramping up the pressure the impeachment inquiry into donald trump moves towards a new phase a public hearing. and police in chile a chance with using heavy handed tactics against protesters in sport new footage is released of the failed robbery of to football is back in july details coming up. well this massive cloud that we see here in the bama golf has been here for quite a while now i should not here but actually been tracking it for quite a while it is now intensifying here over the warmer waters but since october 24th
1:33 pm
when it was east of the philippines the system brought a lot of heavy rain across the philippines crossed over the south china sea made landfall in vietnam crossed another $800.00. kilometers and now entered back into the warm waters of the bay of bengal where now watching the storm intensify and we now have winds of about 100 kilometer gusting up to about 130 kilometers per hour right now over the next few days the storm is going to be making its way to the north so right now we're already seeing the feeder bands affecting parts of india as well as into bangladesh as we go towards saturday the storm is going to intensify to about $150.00 it's also going to be slowing down and it's on saturday that we start to get a little bit of question mark on what the storm is going to be doing some of the forecast models take it in land into bagley desh some of the forecast models actually keep it hovering in the northern part of the open water so if it does this we do expect to see some very heavy rain falling across much of this area anywhere
1:34 pm
across parts of northern india as well as bangladesh could be seeing anywhere between $200.00 and possibly up to $300.00 or more millimeters of rain so flooding is something we're going to be watching. the weather sponsored by catherine winds. from the london brood costs and to special guests and conversation they only want to protect life or not births i want to make the more you or your old unprompted uninterrupted black people for as long as we've been fighting back have been labeled as terrorist intimately reflecting on the issues of our time to collect the things that they're not going to send is not as early as someone else's nationalising studio to be unscripted coming soon on al-jazeera.
1:35 pm
in watching al-jazeera a reminder of our top stories this hour a former congolese rebel leader has been sentenced to 30 years in prison at the international criminal court that was convicted of 18 war crimes and crimes against humanity committed between 20022003. malaysia's prime minister says he will send to

taint cambodian opposition leader moves to an undetermined 3rd country opposition members are trying to return home ahead of a planned protest on sunday in the last few minutes another key opposition leader sam rainsy who we've been talking to here on the news was refused boarding his flight from paris to bangkok. police or started dismantling migrant camps as passed when you crack down the government says it wants to limit the number of undocumented immigrants critics say is an attempt to win over far right voters. at least 47 people have been killed in an attack on mining employees and the king of fast so a convoy carrying staff from a canadian own mind was targeted in the east they were being a scoresheet by the local military nicholas hart joins us live now from dhaka nic can you tell us some more about the attack. well peter this have been on a convoy by the border with with me and been in have been in the early morning it
1:37 pm
was a convoy made up of african engineers construction workers that were going to work on this canadian mining factory and they were escorted by the military when their military convoy drove over an i.e.d. exploded and then the attackers stormed the buses there were 3 of them now at least 60 people are missing but we expect that the death toll will increase in the hours to come it happened in a place where there's no cell phone connection so it took a lot of time for the security forces to get to the ground but peter despite no one claiming responsibility for this. the security forces that we've been in contact with say that this has the hallmark of the state in the greater sorrow well why because they have claimed responsibility on numerous attacks with in the area of the border where that shares with mali peter why was the mine told to sit.
1:38 pm
well the gold mining is an important source of revenue for brick enough us so in fact most of the gold that or a large portion of the gold that's mind. so in the united arab emirates that is then sold to europe a lot of it according to reuters investigation gets to the u.a.e. illegally and all these mines are mostly in areas bordering. mali area and other border here in britain of us where these armed groups are active it's a source of revenue for armed groups but there's also a source of revenue for the governments in the past the government was able to clamp down on the attacks because it has deals with with these armed groups especially under president. who was present there for several years now he's been forced out of office and since he fell out of office these attacks have increased just yesterday there's been an arrest warrants against him but with
1:39 pm
his downfall came the whole security apparatus so what we're seeing now peter is that despite there being in neighboring mali a u.n. peacekeeping mission of $1000000000.14 troops including french troops most of the attacks in this to help people that are dying or dying. and so this week the french minister of armed forces came to bring up on them and that the french forces will be deployed. so you know it's regions to try to stem this violence that's really intensifying with elections just a year away and so president is under immense pressure to clamp down on these attacks but it seems that he needs the help from the international community in order to do so peter thanks very much. 2 former twitter employees have been charged in the u.s. with spying for surgery arabia they're accused of accessing the personal accounts

arabia crown prince mohammed bin samana is actually mentioned in this criminal complaint although he is only referred to as royal family member number one it is believed that one of the twitter engineers flew to washington d.c. in 2015 right around the time that crown prince mohammed bin solomon was rapidly rising to his powerful status that he enjoys today and met with a member of the royal family and shortly after that the spying commenced the spies gather all sorts of information about people making critical comments about the saudi government including their e-mail addresses their ip addresses their dates of birth and so forth among the thousands of accounts that were breached was one belonging to a prominent saudi dissident omar abdel aziz he was close to the washington post
